New Beginnings

January 3rd, 2013

I prayed and waited. Asking God to tell me what to post in the “spirit” of a new year. All was quiet. The 31st of December 2012, rolled over into the 1st of January of 2013. All that came was quiet. Not even my own constant topic revolving door made a move in that direction…or it seemed to me. Then yesterday as I traversed my Facebook page, the scripture “The beginning of wisdom is the fear of Adonai (the Lord)”, kept my revolving door turning at a steady pace. As it often does, it took a while for me to see the “New Year theme” in that verse. My own prior “filings” of that verse into “other “categories” had me a bit at a loss for what the Spirit was trying to say to me. It’s so hard not to do that; tuck a particular verse into a “specified” folder in the mind. It’s natural to do so. So most of January 2nd was a bit of God tapping my forehead for my attention pointed in a different direction. No condemnation, mind you, just very pointed “Uhhh, hello, follow Me!” So, I turned to Proverbs and read it (for what could easily be the 10 thousandth time). I know this one by heart, it has read me far more thoroughly than I have it! This time asking Him to clear my mind of prior readings and filings so as to see it anew. Have you ever heard the Spirit of God “cheer” you on? You know…do a little “Alright!! Now We’re gonna see!” type dance.

So I read…hmmmm. What is “jumping out” is…”knowledge of the Holy One is understanding”. The latter part of the verse. I sit up a bit more, sensing that something new is peaking around the corner. He then sends me over to Psalms. Take a look 🙂

Psalms 111:10
The first and foremost point of wisdom is the fear of Adonai; all those living by it gain good common sense. His praise stands forever.

Then we jog over to Job.

Job 28:28
And to human beings He said, ‘Look, fear of Adonai is wisdom! Shunning evil is understanding!”

Back over to Proverbs…

Proverbs 9:10-12
The fear of Adonai is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
For with Me, your days will be increased; years will be added to your life.
If you are wise, your wisdom helps you; but if you scoff, you will bear the consequences alone.

A light was starting to approach a new way of thinking here. I was piqued! To clarify, I have researched the word fear in the context these verses refer to, long ago. Fear here is not, shake in your boots; run for your life; attack or defend, type mentality. Its reverence, deference, understanding Who is boss, God, knows all, sees all, IS ALL, hence the “bowing” from your core mentality. I note this time what it says in Psalms; this is first and foremost to wisdom. Wisdom leads to understanding. My former “files” had a side note. Wisdom as spoken in Ecclesiastes is not an end but a beginning! In other words to want wisdom just to “get things right” for the purpose of not “doing wrong things” alone, is foolishness. Why? Because wisdom’s purpose is to bring us into relationship, that “getting to know“, conversational, interactive action of knowing God, Himself, His person. Without wisdom, there can be no understanding. All sorts of scriptures start dropping down like windows on a PC for me.

A fool says in His heart…there is no God.
Enter through the Gate, many will try to break in another way, but the only way to the Father is through Me.
I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Noone can receive anything (wisdom/understanding) unless it has been given to him from Heaven.
Those very Scriptures bear witness to Me, but you won’t come to Me in order to have Life!

These and many more! Which by the way is a fruit of wisdom…this leading straight to the Word, what He says. I am beginning to see a new way of how God blinds and unblinds His sheep. Showing error is thought to be an “unblinding”, which is true, but the purpose to it is wisdom! A focus on a blind spot that wisdom may lead to understanding, a knowing of the Holy One. Not just a editing of bad behavior!

Taken altogether; what then is this “New Years Theme”?? A focus on the purpose to beginnings! Isn’t it amazing how The Beginning, so beautifully takes us to a “beginning” to teach us about Life?

(Did you notice how He included the following two verses in Proverbs? Where it addresses what most peoples “new years resolutions” try to attain?)

Where its found, and the free offering of it? As opposed to “new years resolutions” that usually require a “price” on our part. Wow! The quiet, was well worth the wait! Truthfully I was becoming a bit discouraged, wanting so badly to hit the “deadline” of midnite December 31st, 2012. God’s timing is so very perfect! He really doesn’t have “new years”, everyday is a line drawn straight to a purposed and promised end! He understands our need for definition between days, months, years; but to Him September 8th is just as important as January 3rd. Can you hear Him calling?

“Begin here! With wisdom, come! Come and see! Come and know! Come as you haven’t before! Come to Me!

Grace and peace in Yeshua the Messiah ❤
