Purpose and Provision ~ Part 3

March 28, 2013 at 11:09 pm (WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

Matthew 6:9-13

You, therefore, pray like this:
Our Father in heaven! May Your Name be kept holy.
May Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us the food we need today.
Forgive us what we have done wrong, as we too have forgiven those who have wronged us.

And do not lead us into hard testing, but keep us safe from the Evil One.
For Kingship, power, and glory are Yours forever.

Focus for part 3:

> the word and meaning of Name

> the word and meaning of the word Father

~ Name ~

When studying the scriptures it has become a absolute must that I ask the Spirit to lead me to Yeshua (Jesus) – the Teacher for direction and leading to the Father (El Elyon). For it is Adonai Elohim (the Lord God) who has decreed that He be made known. He is known by His Name. Not like I, Lisa, am known by mine. There are soo many Lisa’s, it is my last name that distinguishes my name from all the others and not completely at that. For there are surely more than one of us in combination. The meaning of my name is consecrated or devoted to God. For which, I pray, I honor; yet not everyone named Lisa desires such.

Names are not given as they used to be; **where a name was a representation of whom the individual is/was, based on their character and function. The nature and character of God is found within His Names, which are lost or obscured in our translations and Greek/Western view of scripture. Just as a name can give us a clue about the individual’s character, we can also find some interesting clues about the character of the family lineage. Below is a list of the sons of Adam, the lineage of the promised Messiah, as found in Genesis chapter 5 with the Hebraic meaning for each name:

Adam  – man
Seth – appoint (set in place)
Enosh – mortal (also means man, as man is mortal)
Kenyan – dwelling place (literally a nest)
Mahalalel – light of God (also means praise as it illuminates another)
Jared – comes down
Enoch – dedicate
Methuselah – his death brings
Lamech – despair
Noah – comfort

When the meanings of these names are combined, we discover a very interesting prophesy of the coming Messiah based on the functional descriptions of the names of Adam’s descendants. (Get ready to make that ‘whoooaa’ sound 🙂 )

Man appointed a mortal dwelling, the light of God will come down dedicated, His death brings the despairing comfort.

I.E. Yeshua, Salvation, God with us, Lamb of God, (Jesus) **taken from His Name Is One; An Ancient Hebrew Perspective of the Names of…God. by Jeff A. Brenner**

Kinda makes you look at all those names listed in Matthew and wonder, huh? I recommend you look into it…its just as jaw dropping! Everything God does is FULL of meaning/function/purpose! Not a jot or tittle is “simply placed to “fill in a blank space””.
His Name is above all names! Full of character and function with the purpose of being known!

I highly recommend you getting the book referenced above and below…you will simply just be awed from front to back in the detail of the God we serve! 🙂

~ Father ~

The Hebrew meaning of the word Father is: Strength of the house.

This stands in much conflict in our day due to the fact that somehow the mother has gotten this reputation. The woman of a house is most often the most revered. Not without reason, us women have worked hard to project this persona into the family dynamic. Women do have a “strength” but not like a father. (This is another subject, for another time)
**The following comes from the Jeff Brenner book listed above but abbreviated. The section on God – the Father is pages long and I need not repeat it all.** Looking at the language from a Messianic perspective I have changed the small s in sons to caps in order to get straight to the point. All things such as families, marriage, community and so on are a representation of the Father’s will on earth as it is in heaven.

**The Father builds His family through His Son(s). It is the responsibility of the Father to teach and instruct His Son(s) in family matters so that when the time comes for them to lead the family, they will do so according to the will of their Father.

As sons of God, it is our responsibility to listen and learn from our Father who is in heaven so that we can grow to follow in His will.** (page 83)

So when we say ‘Our Father’ we are identifying that we no longer “look horizontally” for guidance and instruction but “vertically”. We are adopting a heavenly family dynamic, in which God is the strength of our house.

**The Father of the household manifest many of the characteristics of God to His family. He is the el – power, the older experienced ox that is yoked to His children to teach them. As the adon – lord of the family it is His responsibility to bring life to the family through His own work, teaching and decision-making. He is the mela’ak – messenger, whose responsibility is to bring the messages of God to His family. He is the moshia – deliverer of His family by protecting them from evil, both literal and figurative. As the borey – creator He creates new life. He is the qanah – jealous one by guarding over His family. He is to be qadosh – set apart (holy) from the world and devoted to God and His teachings.** (page 115) again I replaced small letters for caps to emphasize the Father in heaven. The only perfect Father at all these things.

The following scripture wraps up this concept of Fatherhood perfectly.

Isaiah 63:15-16

Look down from heaven; and see from Your holy, glorious dwelling.
Where are Your zeal and Your mighty deeds, Your inner concern and compassion?
Don’t hold back, for You are our Father.
Even if Abraham were not to know us, and Israel were not to acknowledge us, You, Adonai, are our Father, our Redeemer of Old is Your Name

As we can clearly see…when we say ‘Our Father…may Your Name be kept holy…we are saying a wealth of things! Yeshua (Jesus) knew all these things when He taught this prayer! To Hebrew disciples who knew this language well and still they did not totally “get it” right away. The vastness of God’s detail and purposes are so that our finite minds must stay still and “chew” on His words for a time just to get a glimpse! It is full of this kind of knowledge and anticipation that Yeshua gave us these words as a “doorway” into prayer. He knew His/our Father, He knew that the depth and width of all the Father longs to teach us! He also knew that the Father, Himself, will take full responsibility for teaching us all we need to know…even if it takes an eternity!!

May His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…today…now!! Amen!

Jesus Calls Us

March 28, 2013 at 3:41 am (Devotionals) (, , , , , )

Jesus Calls Us ~ A Hymn by Cecil Frances Alexander (1818-1895)

Jesus calls us; over the tumult
Of our life’s wild, restless sea,
Day by day His sweet voice soundeth
Saying, “Child, follow Me

Jesus calls us from the worship
Of the vain world’s golden store,
From each idol that would keep us,
Saying, “Child, love Me more.”

In our joys and in our sorrows,
Days of toil and hours of ease,
Still He calls in cares and pleasures,
Child, love Me more than these.”

Jesus calls us: by Thy mercies,
Savior, may we hear Thy call,
Give our hearts to Thine obedience,
Serve and love Thee best of all.

I love the old Hymnals, but do not always love the style of music they have been written in. Its my own fault if there’s a fault in it. I do enjoy the ballads some were tuned to, but often to me they have all “sounded the same”…musically speaking. Their words, however, cause my whole being to enter into worship! So I go to these as devotionals often. I have a couple of “books” that share a bit of their “history” and then the words of each song. I am always struck at how rare it is that with all our education and technology; so very few write songs like those found in “Hymnals”. I mean no lack of appreciation for contemporary worship or their writers!! Yet even those of the best today will share how the times of “less” produced more. History has application in flavor and definition that gets lost in the “up-to-date” and latest fashion in its depth.
No accident!

I don’t even know the “tune” this song was written to. I have never heard it or sang it rather to the notes it was written with.

This songs words sing without the need for instrumentation. The soul lifted up to Abba, becomes the very music of His heart!

Drawing Near to God (Spurgeon’s Faith’s Checkbook)

March 27, 2013 at 2:05 am (Devotionals)

Drawing Near to God
March 27

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. (James 4:8)

The nearer we come to God, the more graciously will He reveal Himself to us. When the prodigal comes to his father, his father runs to meet him. When the wandering dove returns to the ark, Noah puts out his hand to pull her in unto him, When the tender wife seeks her husband’s society, he comes to her on wings of love. Come then, dear friend, let us draw nigh to God who so graciously awaits us, yea, comes to meet us.

Did you ever notice that passage in Isaiah 58:9? There the Lord seems to put Himself at the disposal of His people, saying to them, “Here I am.” As much as to say — “What have you to say to me? What can I do for you? I am waiting to bless you.” How can we hesitate to draw near? God is nigh to forgive, to bless, to comfort, to help, to quicken, to deliver. Let it be the main point with us to get near to God. This done, all is done. If we draw near to others, they may before long grow weary of us and leave us; but if we seek the Lord alone, no change will come over His mind, but He will continue to come nearer and yet nearer to us by fuller and more joyful fellowship.

To be Free or not to be Free?

March 23, 2013 at 2:06 pm (WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , , , )

This is a radical diversion from both the theme of this blog and the message it seeks to highlight. Though the title is definitely in keeping with it. 🙂

Recently some changes have been made in cyber-land and as a result it seems the content of my blog has been “gifted” with free adds. Please know I have not added these adds. To remove them will cost me money. For which I am willing to pay but the system by which to try and eliminate them seems to “roll back on itself” and as yet won’t allow me the honor of sparing you. To say I am frustrated is mute. Though the aggravation is minor. So I apologize to you all for the inconvenience as I work this out; and ask for your patience, as I am not tech-savvy.

We have for many years enjoyed the free-ness of the internet and all it provides! It was the intention of its designer, but alas those who worship the currency of the world have decided “nothing in life is free”. To that I agree to an extent. Nothing in this world is free. Not even air!! You must give a breath away to receive a new one. And, lo, we only have an allotted number! So it’s seems good to me that God is faithful in keeping His word! Only the gift(s) of God is FREE!

I suppose even this could be rationalized to the point that it may “lose” some sense of freedom. For in exchange for His gift(s) we often find ourselves “giving up” something of the self we were before. Though I don’t count this as loss, and the replacements He gives far exceed any initial investment. The Kingdom of Heaven beats any market known to man in dividends!! The interest yielded is unaccountable to the finite mind! So I say,

Glory to God!! May His Wisdom continue to be proven ABSOLUTE!”

To say there is absolutely NOTHING we could need that He has not already provided exactly as needed is the essence of Yeshua’s (Jesus’) teaching in not worrying about a thing in this world! If I have a material need and He does not provide the resources to secure it; I thank Him and seek to enter into His lesson of how to do without or perhaps follow His lead in a method of acquirement I, myself, would not have thought of on my own. My life “of worries” has profoundly been replaced with thanksgiving and trust in the God of all things! Living without is almost always (at first) offensive…even absurd to my “Americanized intellect”. Yet pushing through the offense has renewed that “americanized mind” into true freedom!

To be free or not to be free?

That is the question. Who one seeks out for the answer…makes all the difference!!

John 8:31-32 ~ Yeshua (Jesus) speaking…

So Yeshua said to the Judeans who had trusted Him, “If you obey what I say, then you are really my talmidim (disciples/followers), you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:36 ~ Yeshua speaking…

So if the Son frees you, you will really be free!

Galatians 5:1

What the Messiah has freed us for is freedom! Therefore, stand firm, and don’t let yourselves be tied up again to a yoke of slavery.

We could all gripe and complain about the new limit to that which had none in internet accessibility without charge. Or the ability to use it without charging others for the privilege. Yet, I am glad to report that all things are happening in order to make the truth of God’s word stand out for those with eyes to see it! For this, I am happy and joyful! The “times” we live in now, seem to be shouting like thunder the revelation of the Wisdom we are led to by the Spirit; by which we enter through the Son, our Messiah; by which we are seated at the feet of the Father, and kept in perfect peace! Freedom!!

A Sure Guide (Spurgeon’s Faith’s Checkbook)

March 23, 2013 at 4:42 am (Devotionals)

A Sure Guide
March 23

I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not. (Isaiah 42:16)

Think of the infinitely glorious Jehovah acting as a Guide to the blind! What boundless condescension does this imply! A blind man cannot find a way which he does not know. Even when he knows the road, it is hard for him to traverse it; but a road which he has not known is quite out of the question for his unguided feet. Now, we are by nature blind as to the way of salvation, and yet the Lord leads us into it and brings us to Himself, and then opens our eyes. As to the future, we are all of us blind and cannot see an hour before us; but the Lord Jesus will lead us even to our journey’s end. Blessed be His name!

We cannot guess in which way deliverance can possibly come to us, but the Lord knows, and He will lead us till we shall have escaped every danger. Happy are those who place their hand in that of the great Guide and leave their way and themselves entirely with Him. He will bring them all the way; and when He has brought them home to glory and has opened their eyes to see the way by which He has led them, what a song of gratitude will they sing unto their great Benefactor!

Lord, lead Thy poor blind child this day, for I know not my way!
