Of or To the Redeemed

“What do You want me to do, Lord?” Asked a Child of the Redeemed

“What are You doing, Lord?” Screamed a Child at the Redeemer

“If this is Your will for me; help me to do what You will.” Said a Child of the Redeemed

“If this is Your will for me; then You will have to do it.” Said the Child to the Redeemer

“Lord, You are good and because You are the Cause of all…I will worship You with these troubles.” Said the Child of the Redeemed

“Oh God, how can I worship You with all these troubles?” Asked the Child to the Redeemer

“There’s a way that seems “right” to me, Lord. Show me Your way and the exact right will be done.” Said the Child of the Redeemer

“God give me strength to do this thing.” Said the Child to the Redeemer without seeking a better way.

“God in heaven, I praise Your ways and thoughts, see there Your Child who has not and get the glory on earth as in heaven! How can I enter into Your will for them?” The Child of the Redeemer requested.

“God, that soul is lost. I pray for them to read their Bible and ask for Your help.” Judged the Child to the Redeemer

“Yeshua (Jesus) show me how to become an answer to prayer as You have taught us how to pray.” Said the Child of the Redeemer.

“Jesus thank You for teaching me the words to pray.” A child sent a thought to a Redeemer.

“Lord, I thank You that You have shown me how to obey and leave my feelings out of my actions.” Praised the Child of the Redeemer.

“God, change my circumstances so I can praise You, change my feelings so I can forgive, give me x,y, z so that I can truly obey You.” Told the Child to the Redeemer.

“Father, I thank You for my dying many deaths today, my flesh fought hard to win its way. But You Yeshua (Jesus) showed me how, and there’s no doubt You live in me now.” Offered the Child of the Redeemed.

“God forgive my sins today, and the ones I keep repeating. Make me better tomorrow.” Cried the Child to the Redeemer.

There are such subtle distinctions between each Child’s prayers. Yet they open and close doors between the Kingdom and the world. Can you see them? The small sliver of despondency? The You do for me instead of You do/did and in me? The difference between the changed from moment to moment; and unchanged. One communicates an alive and active relationship with God. One communicates an acknowledgement that God has potential. Both get used by God; one attempts to use Him; the other knows Him. Hidden in the language of “victimization” one defeats and feels defeated. Full of praise and trust in a Real and Present, Just and True, Loving and Guiding Father; even the appearance of defeat does not sway the final trusting choice and invitation to action.

So much focus in today’s society is spent on “here’s what God can do for you”. Like a new chain of store that offers discounted “spiritual fruits”. At a park I was handed a track that said, Get the Most out of Family Life. I opened it and read, the person who handed it to me seemed so dedicated to its message. It read like a point for point on 5 how to’s to get God to make you happy with your family. Scripture was sewn in and around like so much decor. No mention of how we have made God a by-line, a method, a system instead of The Author, Originator, Designer of Family. Not one suggestion to simply ask Him…anything! My heart simply breaks with the breaking of His.
A popular radio broadcast on christian radio belted out the FM Static of “Save Marriages”; and proceeded to focus on gay-marriage verses “real” marriage. I pushed the off button, and asked,

“Lord, would gay marriage even be an issue if “real” marriages hadn’t forsaken You in the first place?

Its so much easier to point out the wrongs elsewhere. Yet if…if…each Child of the Redeemed focused on the Redeemer within them and thereby all their relationships flowed out of the communion with the Creator…what would there be to say then?

How do we miss the mark when there’s only One that’s so obviously missed?

Who is asking these kinds of questions among the “leaders” of our community’s? Who is willing to be the “stumper of pride”? So much fluff about “self-esteem” and only being “encouraging” damns up the river of Living Water we are called to be. Encouraging is mistaken for “making no offence”. How can correction come from such thinking? Not correction as in punishment, but perspective changing. Vision correction. Are eye-doctors shunned for giving glasses to a near-sighted person? Why is correction a four-letter word? I praise the correcting of my vision…because it helps me! This is the kind of help that this scripture means:

Psalms 121

If I raise my eyes to the hills, from where will my help come?
My help comes from Adonai, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip –
your Guardian is not asleep.
No, the Guardian of Israel never slumbers or sleeps.
Adonai is your Guardian; at your right hand Adonai provides you with shade – the sun can’t strike you during the day or even the moon at night.
Adonai will guard you against all harm; He will guard your life.
Adonai will guard your coming and going from now on and forever.

The use of the eyes in this passage is no mere matter of convenience! Our vision is in constant need of a “Lens crafter”. Since He is the Maker of heaven and earth, there is nothing on it or in it He doesn’t have an perfect plan and purpose for. So essentially there is nothing too small to not “consult” Him about…much less the “big” stuff.

Are we Children OF the Redeemer?
Or are we Children simply made by Him…unaware of Who He is, and including Him as a matter of convenience when it seems to “fit our need”?

These questions burn within me…and I am placing all I am in the furnace of His answers. I can begin only in me…holding my pace in submission to the Pace-Maker’s promise…that He, Himself will speak to me and lead me. It changes me day to day. Can you hear Him???
