Workin’ It Out ~ Part 3

I have many favorite “authors”. I am of the opinion that everyone one of them write from the same Source. This Source is the same Source that every human hand was inspired to write about in the Word of God. In Part 2, I said my Favorite Author is the Holy Spirit; ie: God. This is the most accurate statement; for within this view, every “sub-author” that makes my favorite-list always points me to Yeshua (Jesus). Was this not exactly what Yeshua said “the work” of the Holy Spirit was??

Among my sub-favorite’s list of authors George MacDonald is at the top of the list. He wrote fiction, poems, fantasy fiction (his was the inspiration behind Tolkien and Lewis), sermons, and plays. His books are hard to find but worth every penny and effort to “own”. There is more in a paragraph of words he may write than a book could fill. Yet, what puts “his” words in a class by themselves is how they send me straight to the Word. Whenever I read “his work” the Spirit immediately begins whispering Scriptures in my ear. I will give an example.

**Can it be any comfort to them to be told that God loves them so that He will burn them clean?…They do not want to be clean, they cannot bear to be tortured. ~ George MacDonald – taken from C.S. Lewis’s book George MacDonald; page 4 titled The Awakening.

Luke 11:39 ~ Yeshua (Jesus) speaking…

However, the Lord said to him, “Now then, you P’rushim (Pharisees), you clean the outside of the cup and plate; but inside, you are full of robbery and wickedness. Fools! Didn’t the One who made the outside make the inside too? Rather, give as alms what is inside, and then everything will be clean for you!” (See also Matthew 23:25)

John 3:19-21 ~ Yeshua speaking…

“Now this is the judgement: the Light has come into the world, but people loved the darkness rather than the Light. Why? Because their actions were wicked. For everyone who does evil things hates the Light and avoids it, so that his actions won’t be exposed. But everyone who does what is true comes into the Light, so that all may see that his actions are accomplished through God.”
(See also John 12:46)

Romans 6:20-23

For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in relationship to righteousness; but what benefit did you derive from the things of which you are now ashamed? The end result of those things was death. However, now, freed from son and enslaved to God, you do get the benefit – it consist of being made holy, set apart for God, and its end result is eternal life. For what one earns from sin is death; but eternal life is what one receives as a free gift from God, in union with the Messiah Yeshua, our Lord.

**When we say God is Love, do we teach men that their fear of Him is groundless? No! As much as they fear will come upon them, possibly far more…The wrath will consume what they call themselves; so that the selves God made shall appear. ~ George MacDonald – same reference; page 5.

2 Corinthians 3:16-18

“But,” says the Torah, “whenever someone turns to Adonai (the Lord), the veil is taken away.” (Exodus 34:34). Now, “Adonai” in this text means the Spirit. And where the Spirit of Adonai is, there is freedom. So all of us with faces unveiled, see in a mirror the glory of the Lord; and we are being changed into His very image, from one degree of glory to the next, by Adonai the Spirit.

Colossians 3:10

and have put on the new self, which is continually being renewed in fuller and fuller knowledge, closer and closer to the image of its Creator.

Ephesians 4:23-24

and you must let your spirits and minds keep being renewed, and clothe yourselves with the new nature created to be godly, which expressed itself in righteousness and holiness that flow from the Truth.

**Nothing is so deadening to the Divine as an habitual dealing with the outsides of holy things.

He will shake heaven and earth, that only the unshakable may remain: He is a consuming fire, that only that which cannot be consumed may stand forth eternal. It is the nature of God, so terribly pure that is destroys all that is not pure as fire, which demands like purity in our worship. He will have purity. It is not that the fire will burn us if we do not worship thus; yea, will go on burning within us after all that is foreign to it has yielded to its force, no longer with pain and consuming, but as the highest consciousness of life, the presence of God.
~ Both quotes by George MacDonald – same reference.

Deuteronomy 4:24

For Adonai your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

Hebrews 12:26-29

Even then, His voice shook the earth; but now He has made this promise:

“One more time I will shake not only the earth, but heaven too!” (Haggai 2:6;21)

And this phrase, “one more time,” makes clear that the things shaken are removed, since they are created things, so that the things not shaken may remain. Therefore, since we have received an unshakeable Kingdom, let us have grace, through which we may offer service that will please God, with reverence and fear. For indeed, “Our God is a consuming fire!”

Psalms 97:3

Fire goes before Him, setting ablaze His foes on every side.

Hebrews 10:31

It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the Living God!

As I read these quotes, these Scriptures fell into my mind. One served the other, and it is Adonai, the Spirit who is confirmed as the Author, of both. Learning how to discern what is God and is not requires the Holy Spirit. Without Him, nothing written in the Word or by any other so inspired author; nothing seen or heard or spoken will clarify the God that created the World and everything in it; the God who sent Yeshua to die and rise again from the consumption of His fire to become the fire by which all things are made clean, find freedom and live in union with Him.

This is just one of many ways God coaches me through a “work out”. As you can see, He is the One who does the “heavy lifting”…I just…follow. 🙂
