Purpose and Provision ~ Part 5 ~ A

Matthew 6:9-13

You, therefore, pray like this:

‘Our Father in heaven!
May Your name be kept holy.
May Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us the food we need today.
Forgive us what we have done wrong, as we too have forgiven those who have wronged us.
And do not lead us into hard testing, but keep us safe from the evil one.
For Kingship, power and glory are Yours forever.

In the parts preceding, as in this one, I bold the text being highlighted in the part. The “topic” is the prayer Yeshua (Jesus) told us to pray. The title of the series is: Purpose and Provision. What I am saying is that all of what we need to walk with God is provided within the context of this prayer. We find His purpose for us within it as well.

The corresponding highlights this time will be a two-part series, within this series. For the wealth of what Yeshua came to do is found within the highlighted portions. His coming and all He did, ushered forth the Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. His dying on the cross and rising again ushered in the Age of Forgiveness; by which not only God can forgive, but we too, through the Son, now part-take in a heavenly realm. Without the Son, we can not part-take in the Kingdom of Heaven. There is no forgiveness of sin, without Yeshua.

My study on this grouping of words highlighted above was…hard. Forgiveness is a complex subject now, confused and deranged by so many “schools of thought”. Turns out I needed the lesson. So to begin I will start by listing where the Spirit took me in the Word, tying these groups of words together. For I had not realized how they were so relatively connected. To clarify, every word of the prayer is both relative and connected, but these stand in a “class” of their own. I pray the Spirit be sufficient in me to do this justice! To be frank…I am overwhelmed! These two subjects:
The Kingdom of Heaven
are on their own immense! So here we go!

Matthew 3:2

“Turn from your sins to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near!”
(This is Yochanan John the Baptist speaking)

Matthew 4:17 ~ Yeshua (Jesus) speaking…

From that time on, Yeshua began proclaiming, “Turn from your sins to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near!”

Matthew 5:10 ~ Yeshua speaking…

“How blessed are those who are persecuted because they pursue righteousness! for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

Matthew 10:7 ~ Yeshua sending the Twelve out…

As you go, proclaim, “The Kingdom of Heaven is near…”

Matthew 16:18-19 ~ Yeshua speaking…

I also tell you this: you are Kefa (Peter – which means Rock) and on this rock I will build My Community, and the gates of Sh’ol (Hades) will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in Heaven.

Matthew 18:18 ~ Yeshua speaking…

Yes! I tell you people that whatever you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.

Luke 11:20 ~ Yeshua speaking…

But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you!

Luke 22:42 ~ Yeshua speaking…

Father, if You are willing, take this cup away from Me, still, let not My will but Yours be done.

John 18:36 ~ Yeshua speaking…

Yeshua answered, “My kingship does not derive its authority from this world’s order of things. If it did, My men would have fought to keep Me from being arrested by the Judeans. But My kingship does not come from here.

John 20:21-23 ~ Yeshua speaking…

“Shalom aleikhem! (peace be unto you)” Yeshua repeated, “Just as the Father sent Me, I Myself am also sending you.” Having said this, He breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit)! If you forgive someone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you hold them, they are held.”

1 Corinthians 8:12

and so, when you sin against the brothers by wounding their conscience when it is weak, you are sinning against the Messiah!

Psalm 103:19-22

Adonai (the Lord) has established His throne in heaven;
His Kingly power rules everything.
Bless Adonai, you angels of His, you mighty warriors who obey His word, who carry out His orders!
Bless Adonai, all His troops, who serve Him and do what He wants!
Bless Adonai, all His works, in every place He rules!
Bless Adonai, my soul!

Ephesians 4:32

Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted; and forgive each other, just as in the Messiah God has also forgiven you.

Colossians 3:13

Bear with one another; if anyone has a complaint against someone else, forgive him. Indeed, just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must forgive.

Romans 15:7

So welcome each other, just as the Messiah has welcomed you into God’s glory.

Daniel 2:44

“In the days of those kings the God of heaven will establish a kingdom that will never be destroyed, and that Kingdom will not pass into the hands of another people. It will break to pieces and consume all those kingdoms; but it, itself, will stand forever

Matthew 6:14 ~ Yeshua speaking…

For if you forgive others their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others offenses, your heavenly Father will not forgive yours.
(Note: this is the very next verse after the close of the prayer…Yeshua’s words right after the ‘amen’)

Here are some quotes I found about forgiveness that are popular today. When I say popular, I mean in every circle of society. Even those who say they walk in the Light of Yeshua’s forgiveness. None of these quotes reflect the Kingdom of God in the prayer above. I will bold and italicize the words that “give the wolf in sheep’s clothing” away.
I could comment on each, but its not my voice you need heed in discerning the truth for the lie. Aside from the fact that several of these pull in a righteous anger in my heart…only God can handle :-). In other words…I had some…forgiving to do…the kind that cries out “Forgive us Father, for we know not what we do, say…we know not YOU!”

~ Just because I forgive you, doesn’t mean I want you back. I’m forgiving, letting go and moving on to something bigger and better. ~ Author not named

~ True forgiveness is when you can say, “Thank you for that experience.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

~ Forgiveness has nothing to do with absolving a criminal of his crime. It has everything to do with relieving oneself of the burden of being a victim – letting go of the pain and transforming oneself from victim to survivor. ~ C.R. Strahan

~ Forgiveness is not something we do for other people. We do it for ourselves – to get well and move on. ~ Author unnamed

~ I don’t forgive people because I’m weak. I forgive them because I’m strong enough to know people make mistakes. ~ Author unnamed

~ The truth is forgiveness isn’t about the other person. Its always about us. ~ B. Uyemura

~ Forgive all who have offended you, not for them, but for yourself. ~ Harriet Nelson

~ It takes a strong person to say sorry and an even stronger person to forgive. ~ Author unnamed

~ My problem is I can’t stay mad. I always end up forgiving people even when they don’t deserve it. ~ Author unnamed

~ Forgive those who insult you, attack you, belittle you or take you for granted. But more than this…forgive yourself for allowing them to hurt you. ~ Author unnamed

~ Forgiveness does not always lead to a healed relationship. Some people are not capable of love, and it might be wise to let them go along with your anger. Just wish them well and take care of yourself. ~ Author unnamed

~ I’m a good enough person to forgive people who hurt me, but not stupid enough to trust them again. ~ Author unnamed

I can only say that with everyone one of these quotes, supposedly wise, I could not “hear” these words coming out of Yeshua’s mouth. It is God who gets all the focus and attention in forgiveness, whether we forgive others or not. We can not forgive unless He enables us, forgives us first, and its always about Him…not even a little bit about us. It is for His glory that He forgives. It is for His glory we do too. God is the only One who gets anything “out of it”, and not from us. This “I forgive to get “well”, move on, overcome, survive, be good enough” rhetoric is just plain tit for tat. What is forgiveness that gets given to get?? Not Gods. He is not interested in our “survival” but the complete transformation He alone does in His forgiveness.

Sometimes the best way to know what something is; is to show what it is not. Next part will stick more to what it is and show how the mighty Kingdom of Heaven comes down on earth as it is, in Heaven. 🙂

Grace and peace in Yeshua the Messiah ❤

Currently it looks like BlogEngine is the preferred blogging
platform out there right now. (from what I’ve read) Is that what you’re using on your blog?
