☆ Three Reasons for Trusting God’s Power ☆

1. His Past Record

Throughout history God has proven the sufficiency of His power, yet it is not easy to believe that God is Almighty. Moses himself was a star of the first magnitude for grace, yet see how his trust blinks and twinkles until he overcomes his doubts. He said to God, ‘The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and Thou has said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month. Shall the flocks and herds be slain for them, to suffice them? (Numbers 11:21-22) This holy man lost sight for a time of the almighty power of God, and began questioning how the Lord could keep His Word. He might as well have said what he was obviously thinking: ‘O God, have You not overestimated Your power this time? What You have promised cannot be done!’ For so God interprets his reasoning: ‘And the Lord said unto Moses, Is the Lord’s hand waxed short?’ (Vs. 23)

It was the same with Mary in the New Testament: ‘Lord, if Thou had been here, my brother had not died’ (John 11:32) To this, her sister Martha added, ‘Lord, by this time he stinketh’ (vs. 39) Both were Godly women, yet they had serious doubts about the extent of Christ’s power. One limited Him to place – ‘if Thou had been here…’ As if Christ could not have saved Lazarus’ life absent as well as present! The other limited Him to time – ‘now he stinketh…’ As if Christ had brought His remedy to late, and the grave would not release is prisoner at His command. *Despite their unbelief, God proved Himself faithful.

Now, Follower of Christ, before you point at the wrinkle in their trust, perhaps you should check for holes in your own. Do not have such a high opinion of yourself as to think your own trust does not need your utmost effort continually to acknowledge the almighty power of God. When you see those heros of trust dash their feet against this kind of temptation, how can you be so confident?

– to be continued. ..
☆ Questions for further digestion ☆

Note: I find it rather humorous that the women were concerned with stink. ..:-). And after all Moses had seen God pull off. .. He still struggled with trust. It gives me hope! I believe God is most interested in building this one ‘muscle’ more than any other! In every situation I am inclined to ask. .. ♡ “What would be the most Incredulous a.k.a. impossible thing God could do here?” ♡ Where am I the least inclined to go in my thinking about God’s limits and/or reach? This is why time invested into each thought and prayer is so essential. Prayers tossed up on the go are not without value. .. but it takes relationship to converse with God. .. and we die to ourselves most when we allow Him to have the final say. We do limit God by our natural inclinations. .. it must be a consistent effort (like the tending to our Armour) to look for His impossibilities for which we are instructed to ask for! We can not ask for things we don’t “see” or know to comprehend. .. only God gives us this insight!

The most confusing and hard to see situations are likely where He would prove His power the most if we would but go to Him and ask Him to show us Himself. .. and wait in trust while He does so. After all its a promise He made. .. and often we are just limited in our patience and trust to keep looking, asking, seeking, knocking.

♡ the questions are in there. .. can you see them?
