Awake! Quote of the Day

June 15, 2017 at 1:40 pm (Remodeling the Mind, Thoughts to Ponder, WSGD Newes) (, , , )

Acts 17:11

Now the people here of nobler character than the ones in Thessalonica; eagerly welcomed the message, checking the Scriptures EVERY DAY to see if the things Paul was saying were true.

1 Peter 1:10-12

The prophets, who testified about this gift of deliverance that was meant for you, pondered and inquired diligently about it. They were trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of the Messiah in them was referring in predicting the Messiah’s sufferings and the glorious things to follow. It was revealed to them that their service when they spoke about these things was not for their own benefit, but for yours.  And these same things now have been proclaimed to you by those who communicated the Good News to you through the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) sent from Heaven. Even the angels long to look into these things!

2 Peter 1:19-21

Yes, we have the prophetic Word made very certain.  You will do well to pay attention to it as to a light shining in a dark, murky place, until the Day dawns and the Morning Star rises in your hearts. First of all, understand this: no prophesy of Scripture is to be interpreted by an individual on his own; for never had a prophesy come as a result of human willing – on the contrary, people moved by the Ruach HaKodesh spoke a message from God.

James 1:18

Having made His decision, He gave birth to us through a Word that can be relied upon, in order that we should be a kind of firstfruits of all that He created.

2 Timothy 2:15

Do all you can to present yourself to God as someone worthy of His approval, as a worker with no need to be ashamed, because he deals straightforwardly with the Word of the Truth.

Isaiah 34:16

Consult the book of Adonai and read it: not one of these things will be missing, none will be lacking a mate. For by His own mouth He gave the order, and by His own Spirit He brought them together.

Psalms 119:97

How I love Your Torah (Instructions)! I meditate on it ALL day!

✡ Oh, God, may we seek You as diligently as we would seek shelter, peace, sustenance, and wages! For our lives depends on our willingness to find all truth in You alone! To search it our for ourselves, not relying on any human teaching and others seeking to make us transformed. For You alone in cooperation, that is relationship with us can bring us into Your Kingdom; where all things needful for every day we live will be found, as You promised. May You make us able to seek You more each day. Not for knowledge alone or self management, but for the joy of finding You! ✡

Personal Note

June 8, 2017 at 5:17 am (Mile Stones, Remodeling the Mind, Thoughts to Ponder) ()

My mom and I got together this week. Our usual fully loaded with deep thoughts and ponderings were flying around somewhere on a birds wings. We walked the yard, talked about plants, ideas – then chatted more about things I can’t remember now. It felt weird. Mom and I’s chats usually go down in memory banks well worth the effort to recall if needed but rarely does it take effort. Bits of wisdom, strength and encouragement bubble forth from a time now etched somewhere where Adonai keeps His records of them. Joy sits on the edge of its seat with our talk of Yeshua and His Word, His love, His – everything! Not many can say their strongest bond is the God who made them. I’m sitting here thinking…all my close friends have this hallmark. What a gift!

Yet, with Mom and I’s last tea time, there was a different depth, just as profound. Just being. I wonder…how many people realize that – just being – is all that God requires in beauty? Look at flowers! Just like Yeshua said they don’t spin and toil, they just stand in the ground and receive. What they give they are completely unaware of!

The last year has been hard, for both Mom and myself. Our lives, individually, changed in crazy ways, unexpected. Good and hard. The last 6 months have been a landslide of information that has been jolting. The excitement of learning brings joy, yet at the same time the warfare and heaviness of the times still reminds us we’re finite and get tired and must rest – and just be!  Just sit and chat about ‘stuff’ silly girls! We both have a penchant for desiring to fill each moment up with tons of significance! It’s God’s image in us that calls that out. Yet so, too, does He call out for us to let Him fill things up and not take for granted the small stuff is loaded too!

Things have shifted much for me. I’ve been asked to step out more boldly, and thus my ‘friends and family’ once thought to be of the same mind and heart have betrayed. Mom, too, has felt the sadness of the same. We silently understand the pain but are counting it as joy as The Word instructs. It’s kind of hard to describe how one counts joys that hurt. I won’t try now. I think it’s a silent knowing.

I look to the sky, I always have, but lately each day is a possible last. At least as I’ve known it. Truthfully, it is not easy to describe that feeling either. I can’t wait to be with the Lord and in a mind and body that doesn’t have a mind of their own to hurt or disappoint Him! Of all the thoughts of being with the Lord, that last part is what I long for the most! Not discounting the actual being – physically with Him – mind you; but that part where no thoughts betray or rebel, no action signifies anything but His glory – wow! Daily I’m with Him, He is that real to me! I’ve no doubt it will be far better than I experience now, but honestly, right here and now, He blows my mind! I don’t think that’s going to change! Yippee! Hallelujah! I hope it never does. I’m all signed up for an eternity of mind blowing relationship with Adonai Elohim! All this world fades in comparison.

Just be…

Thats hard to do in a world needing to be awakened, time running out, hearts continuing to break, lives struggling, bodies failing…eyes drooping. I wonder, always have, what Yeshua must have felt in the same light of my thoughts this way. Then He whispers the answer. Have you heard Him? Just the resonance of His voice is half the answer, a lifetime of food for the soul. Are we inspired and made to feel alive every day? Seems like a tall order. Indeed it is if we think it’s up to us to obtain that! The key is…just listen for, look for – Him – and just be. Be His – in the small stuff, be His, in the heavy, be His, in the rat race, be His, in the unknown, be His, in the knowing, be His, in everything! He becomes all in all that way! That someone’s prayer for someone is just seeing their face in your mind and releasing a butterfly in the heart, picturing them fluttering about landing on flowers, fingers and noses with Abba’s delight sending giggle waves rippling through the air with them. Sometimes the heaviest things in the world are made light in the simplest little things! God is in control. Help me live every hour like that is true, My Lord and King!

So…if the thoughts of Mom and I’s last chat has inspired these thoughts…perhaps it went deeper than I knew! Grab a loved one or friend and just be together this week! See that God is!

✡ May the completeness of His grace and depth of His delight hold you inside the shelter of His Wings! ✡

Shabbat Shalom! The Joy of Yeshua

May 25, 2017 at 11:07 pm (Thoughts to Ponder, WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , , , )

Anyone who has followed me on this blog has likely picked up that I am fond of the Hebrew language and the beauty of the traditions our Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) was brought up in and part of.

There is a growing anomosity and misunderstanding in the believing community I’d like to separate myself from. This takes clarity on my part. First, I’m not what some would term part of the “Hebrew Roots” movement. Second, I don’t affiliate myself with any ‘movement’ in this regard. I simply asked one day, “who are You, Yeshua?” (Jesus at the time as that was the name I was raised to call Him by). I still call Him Jesus, and Yeshua. I am not of those who think the pronunciation of His name is cataclysmic to one’s walk with Him. God sees the heart, He has known when I said Jesus, who I was referring to every time. There are those who argue, insanely in my humble opinion, that His name should be said and spelled in various forms in Hebrew to the point of division within the body. I am vehemently against this kind of division! There are 100’s of languages spoken on this planet today. In every language Yeshua/Jesus, the Son of the Living God, God of the Bible, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – the Father of Yeshua, has revealed Himself. God knows who is calling to Him and who is not. We are not to knock heads over semanitics. The only arguments I’ve entertained in a calm discussion format is the comparison that all gods in all religions are referring to God Almighty of the Bible, not true; and the subject of rigidity within the body of pronunciation of Yeshua in Hebrew. I simply refer to the Apostle Paul’s instruction for this not to be found in the body of Messiah (Christ).

Moving on…I believe in answer to my prayer, God began to show me what Yeshua grew up with, the language and culture. This took me back to why God called Abraham out and made the Hebrew nation in the first place. So in getting to know Yeshua more, just like He said, I would see the Father more! The Hebrew language made the Word make sense in ways that it never did, and made it more than it was before. Not the forbidden ‘adding to” but the deepening of its richness. Example: in the hebraic perspective what is “in front of us” is what we have known/know – our past and present – because we can see it. What is “behind us” is the future – what we can’t see and don’t know. Now let’s look at a scripture that often confused me growing up.

Luke 9:62

To him Yeshua said, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and keeps looking back is fit to serve in the Kingdom of God.”

Now to put this in context: three people talk to Yeshua about following Him, one declares he’ll follow Him wherever He goes and Yeshua responds about the foxes and birds that have places to lay their heads but He does not. The second asks to go home and bury his dad first, Yeshua responds to let the dead bury the dead but tells him to follow Him. The third says, I’ll follow You but let me say good bye to the people at home to which the verse above is Yeshua’s response.

His last response here was to all three of the people in the section of verses and all those listening to the conversations. There is no doubt theres alot to be taken from this section of scripture but I’m focused on the hebraic perspective above. I was always taught that “looking back” was the referring to the past. Taken from this perspective one can still gleen from scripture a good lesson. Not to let the past define your present and thus your future, not to get stuck in the past and so on and so forth. All good and worthy but not what Yeshua was saying! Yeshua spoke from the hebraic perspective, He is saying don’t get caught up trying to figure out everything; past, present or future, just follow Him! This perspective ties all three examples together and speaks a powerful instruction especially for those who would believe and follow Him when He returned to the Right Hand of the Father. Another example is the word peace, means completeness/wholeness in Hebrew, not absence of strife. It changes the way you understand what He means when He says this word! If you look in the books of Kings and Chronicles you will find this phrase in every reference to each leader/King…”so and so did what was evil/good from God’s perspective”  This is very important. Man is ever taking things and putting them in their own perspective and acting on that perspective. To Follow Yeshua, in other words, to do as He did, think as He thought and act as He acted on – one must submit to The Father’s perspective. It’s not how we think of things that matters it’s how God does. I don’t refrain from murder because I just think murder is wrong, I refrain from murder because God says it’s wrong. Let’s face it, many people refrain from murder because they just don’t like it or agree with it or even have the ability to see it as okay. Yet, there is a difference between them (driven by morality) and one who acts only on what God says is good and refrains to act on what God says is bad. It’s becoming a child of His Kingdom or just a nice child of this one. It’s like taking His mark, rather than being marked by this world. Every time my heart transforms into the image of His likeness it because it simply trusts God because He’s God. I don’t get the credit for being good in this case, God gets the credit for transforming me through trust/faith.

So this is how my mind has been transformed the most. It’s not that I wasn’t a Believer before I embarked on learning the Hebraic perspective, it just grew me up more in Him, enabled me to Follow Yeshua. This is how God has moved me. It’s not a prescription to follow, it’s not personal to anyone but me and Adonai. It may encourage one to look into the things I say because they, too, find their hearts being drawn closer to the God who made them, if so, PRAISE ADONAI! If not, it’s not “sign” that God is not doing the same for anyone else but differently. (Not differently that theres any other way except through Yeshua, I must qualify this!)

As a result, we celebate the Sabbath. Friday evening as the sun sets we light the candles, break bread, and drink the wine with their messianic hebrew blessings. Again from the hebraic perspective, one learns that God gave the instructions for these things for a very good reason. To act on something is to make it a part of you. God wants us to enter His rest, not our own. Yeshua never failed to do the Sabbath – not one time; and it was His joy! Let’s be honest, He could not afford not to enter His Father’s rest! Neither can I! There is something beautifully mysterious about acting on the ushering in and participation of the Sabbath. It’s not legalism, it’s worship and honor in my heart that motivates me. I don’t believe I’m better because I do it or I get special kudos from God. Except that which comes from being united with Yeshua and in turn with the Father as Yeshua says in John 17.

Perhaps you may want to know what this ushering in of the Sabbath looks like?

I will tell you what we do, having learned from various Messianic (meaning those who follow Yeshua as Messiah) resources.

We have two candle holders, a kaddish cup, and plate for the bread (a simple glass and plate will do). At just before sunset on Friday night we say the following blessings, I light the candles, say a silent prayer, we then say the blessings over the bread and wine, and say a prayer over each other (my husband, Sam and I). If our children were there we would say the blessings for children. They are grown and not living near us but we still count them in our prayers. Here are the blessings.

To usher in Sabbath, all present recite:

I then cover my head with a scarf as a symbol of my coming under God’s Authority. I light the candles, reaching with both hands out beyond the candles and pulling my hands forward to my face three times in honor and welcome of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to receive His light, resting my hands over my face in a silent prayer. Then together we recite this blessing:

We then recite the blessing over the bread, break and eat.

Then we recite blessing over wine, and drink.

(I apologize if the pictures are hard to read, but it’s alot to type, my prayer is printed out or zoomed in on,  its legible)

We then say our prayers with and over each other, at times Sam will just pray over us, we don’t allow our personal hearts to become formal, we want God to move in us. Reverence is never to be confused with religious formality.

We are still learning hebrew, so we follow the English transliterated and English. We are learning and have fun with it, again it’s not meant to be legalistic.

I pray this encourages you in your following of Yeshua. May He come soon with the shalom of eternity!

✡ Grace and peace to you in full measure in Yeshua the Messiah ✡

Biblical Education

May 21, 2017 at 1:40 pm (Remodeling the Mind, Thoughts to Ponder, WSGD Newes) (, , , )

I love that God saw fit to teach things that through time science has backed up His teaching. I hate that the same science has found a way to remove Him from the source of Truth.

Here’s proof:

Psalms 97:4

His flashes of lightning light up the world; the earth sees it and trembles.

Psalms 77:16-18

The water saw You, God; the water saw You and writhed in anguish, agitated to its depths. The clouds poured water, the skies thundered, and Your arrows flashed here and there. The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind, the lightning flashes lit up the world, the earth trembled and shook.

Jeremiah 10:11-13

This is what you must say to them: ‘The gods that did not make heaven and earth will perish from earth and from under heaven.'” God made the earth by His power, established the world by His wisdom, spread out the sky by His understanding. When He thunders the waters in heaven roar, He raises clouds from the ends of the earth, He makes lightning flash in the rain and brings the wind from His storehouses.

Job 37:2-4

Just listen to the rumbling of His Voice, to the thunder that comes from His mouth! He sends it out under all of heaven, His lightning to the ends of the earth. There follows a sound, a roar – He is thundering with His majestic Voice, and He keeps releasing the lightning even while His Voice is being heard.

Job 37:11-13

He weighs the clouds down with moisture, and they flash forth His lightning. He, by His plans, turns them around, so they do what He commands them anywhere on earth; He brings them forth on the earth sometimes to punish, sometimes to express His grace.

I’m always so worshipful of Him! That before scientific endeavors, He explains all things. That even though the scientific math and equations are missing from His explanation – what really matters – He reveals and it’s enough.

Are you looking for how God has explained the things man takes credit for having discovered and proven? It’s quite helpful to those whom you may be planting seeds, watering and exposing to the Son! Someone once told me, “it’s hard to argue when you say “God said.” This is true. It’s even harder to argue when you can show how you are only repeating what God has said, Himself.

Job 38:22-27 – God speaking to Job out of storm.

Have you gone into the storehouses for snow or seen the storehouses for hail, which I save for times of trouble, for days of war and battle? By what path is light dispersed, or the east wind poured in the land? Who cut a channel for the downpours, or a way for the lightning and thunder, causing it to rain where no one is, in a desert without anyone there, drenching the waste and desolate ground, till the tender grass sprouts?

I think it’s interesting how most references to weather related things in the Word of God, are connected to His Voice and battle.

I wasn’t born into a scholarly home, my folks were hard working, Bible believing, people. They didn’t drill religion, they just believed what they read in His Word. They encouraged me to read it, both by spoken word and by example. I watched them read it all my life. Not because they were in distress or crisis, but at all times, everyday most the time. When I was young we would go to Fairplay Colorado where we had a small family cabin amongst one of  the wonders of the world of Aspen trees. When we would take hikes they simply gave God the glory and credit for the things we’d see. It was in their speech, because they believed what He said. There would be incredible thunder storms up there at almost 10,000 feet! As a child I would get scared. They comforted me by assuring me that the same God who put the bush on the mountain that held the eggs of the robin we’d seen that day, was in charge of the lightning and thunder and rain. That, yes, He was mighty and powerful, but He cares for His creatures with tenderness. That the thunder was Him talking to the earth. Though I felt often still scared, and thought perhaps the earth was is trouble and being scolded, it still comforted me to know it was God flashing and calling out in the storm. I grew out of my fear, now I long to hear Him thunder from Heaven, having learned that He’s not talking to the earth, but telling His enemies to stand down! Reminding them He is still watching and taking account! Warning them, that one day these little spurts of storms will become a last and final one to their undoing!

The real truth to know about lightning and thunder has little to do with what this world thinks it does.

✡I pray this encourages you to search for Him in all things. To discover that The One True God who created everything, really does say something about everything, and it reveals a Creator that did so for much better reasons than science and technology. He didn’t and doesn’t need any formula to make anything, yet He gave one to each created thing. May we worship Him who created all things, not worship the things He made! Grace and peace in Yeshua the Messiah! ✡

Adonai’s Word for Today

May 2, 2017 at 1:03 pm (Remodeling the Mind, Thoughts to Ponder) (, )

Isaiah 30:18-21

Yet Adonai is just waiting to show you favor, He will have pity from on high; for Adonai is a God of justice; happy are all who wait for Him! People in Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. At the sound of your cry, He will show you His grace; on hearing it, He will answer you. Though Adonai may give you but bread and water, and not much of that; your Teacher will no longer hide Himself, but with your own eyes you will see your Teacher. With your ears you will hear a Word from behind you: “This is the Way; stay in it, whether you go to the right or the left. ”

✡ Grace and peace in full measure be yours in Yeshua the Messiah ✡
