☆ The Five-fold Bond Securing God’s Power ☆

5. His Interceding Son

Christ’s presence and activity in heaven remind God of His firm commitment to defend His followers. We have been promised that one of the Saviors ongoing activities in heaven is ever to intercede before the Father on our behalf. Intercession is purely an office of mercy to believers, that they might have given them whatever is needed for the performance of all God has promised. Jesus Christ is our ambassador to see all carried fairly between God and is according to agreement. Although Christ sits in His exalted position beside the Father and out of the storm in regard to His own safety, yet His children are left behind in combat with satan. They remain in His heart, and He will not forget them for a moment. Witness the speedy dispatch He made of the Holy Spirit to the apostles when He ascended to the Father, Christ had sent the Holy Spirit to comfort not only the first Followers but all believers until His return.

Adoption, Disciple, Enlistment – A Call to War – 16

☆ The Five-fold Bond Securing God’s Power ☆

3. His Everlasting Covenant

God’s covenant engages His almighty power. He puts His own hand and seal to His promise, and like the mountains surrounding Jerusalem it stands, never to be removed. As His Name is, so is His Nature – a God who keeps covenant for ever. He does not parcel Himself out, a few crumbs to one, a crust to another – as one feeds the sparrows. He allows you to claim as yours whatever He has. He makes His covenant with every believer. Were some left to fight it out by strength of their own abilities, then the strong would be likely to stand and the weak to fall in battle. But, castled in the covenant, all are safe together – because all rest in the power of His might.

4. His Self-Imposed Obligation

Since God demands our trust, He is obligated to prove Himself trustworthy. All His promises are yea and amen; He has therefore bound Himself to use His power in our defense.
Where can anyone flee in any need, or when danger of sin, satan, or his instruments, except to God? ‘What time I am afraid,’ David said, ‘I will trust in Thee’ (Psalm 56:3). *When you take sanctuary in God, you can rest assured He will not betray you to the enemy. Your willing dependence on Him awakens His almighty power for your defense as surely as a newborns cry awakens its mother, regardless of the hour. He has sworn the greatest oath that can come from His sacred lips: that all who flee to their hope in Him for refuge, shall have strong consolation (Heb.6:17,18). This should embolden your faith to expect a kind haven when you turn to God for protection. Having set up His name and promises as a strong tower, God calls His people into His chambers, and expects then to enter and make themselves at Home.

☆ Questions for further digestion ☆

♡ Can you name the character traits of God found within the many names He gives us to call upon in the Word?

♡ How has the word covenant become a dull “religious word” to you?

(The covenant or commitment God has made provided no avenue on His part for a lack of fulfillment. He does not divorce, renig or fail to keep every part for all time. It has never depended on what His people did or did not do, and never will. He has married the harlot, the backslider, the faithful, the Bride of His choosing. .. There is no divorce court in heaven.)

♡ Do you see how human reasoning and culture has so degraded our perception of trustworthy based on its “easy-outs” and loopholes it has set up within the context of commitment between humans?

♡ Do you see why He has proven His trustworthiness by the simple observable proofs we see everyday of how opposite He is in keeping His word. (Example: the Sun comes up and goes down every day, shining and giving life to every nook and cranny of the whole earth for the purpose of keeping His creation; no matter what the people do or don’t do. .. the Sun and its rising and setting is one of the most abundantly see-able things He has given to prove His trustworthiness! )

God’s Perfect Response to Satan’s Accusations ~ Part 2

2. God uses Satan’s tricks to make His saints thankful.

You know the boulders the devil rolls in your path. If today the road is clear, what relief and joy your soul must feel! None surpasses Satan at stirring up trouble, yet you have peace in your conscience. To whom are you obliged for your serenity of spirit? To none but your God, who holds Satan in custody and will not let him enter the garden of your soul! This thief sees your pleasant fruits as they hang, and his mouth waters at them; but the wall is too high for him to climb. God keeps him out of this paradise. It is not the grace of God in you, but the favor of God as a shield about you that defends you from the wicked one. What more do we need to hear to make our hearts swell in gratitude?

God’s Perfect Response to Satan’s Accusations ~ Part 1

***This is a series taken from The Christian in Complete Armor by William Gurnall.***

What immeasurable comfort to know we are not left on our own to ward off Satan’s blows to our conscience. Is he clever? Your God is more so, who can safely lead you through the devil’s labyrinth right back to Himself!

1. God uses Satan’s own schemes to make His saints wise.

With them He unmasks the devil and exposes the children of Beelzebub, those offspring of the enemy who show the same craft as their infernal father in vexing the spirits of the saints. These are some of the ‘children of Satan’ whom Satan sends out to molest a saints peace.

Those who dig up the saints old sins, which God has forgiven and forgotten, merely to grieve His spirit and muddy His name; these show their devilish malice indeed, who take such pains to travel many years back to find a handful of dirt to throw on the saints face. Thus Shimei taunted David, ‘Come out, thou bloody man’ (2 Sam. 16:7). When you meet such reproaches, answer them as the French theologian Beza did those who, for lack of better ammunition, charged him for some impious poems he penned in his youth. ‘These men,’ he said, ‘begrudge me the pardoning mercy of God.’

There are also those who lie in wait for the saint to stumble, then point out every faltering step to make him seem graceless, and themselves graceful by comparison. Such pawns of the devil bring a curse upon themselves, although they think little of it. Consider Amalek, the remembrance of whose name God threatened to blot out from under heaven (Deut. 25:19). Do you recall what he did to deserve Gods wrath? He had his soldiers slay those at the rear of Moses’ company who were feeble and could not keep up with the rest! We can hardly imagine a greater cruelty, yet in God’s sight it is even worse to smite with the edge of a mocking tongue the feeble in grace.
Some wicked men sin with the evil purpose of troubling the saints spirit.

Perhaps you have watched a blasphemer in action. When he discovers there are those who love the Lord and cannot bear to hear His name taken in vain, he deliberately uses foul language the grates on chaste ears and troubles the sensitive spirits of his listeners. This rascal strikes Father and child at one blow. He thinks dishonoring God is not enough, but insists that the saint stand by to see and hear the wrong done to their heavenly Father.

Perhaps worst of all are those who
blame a child of God for the consequences of their own sins. This is why Ahab called the prophet ‘the troubler of Israel’ when it was really himself and his fathers house who were the blame. What grief to Moses’ spirit for the Israelites to lay at his door the blood of those who died in the wilderness. God, Himself, can testify Moses was their constant bail when at any time His hand was raised to destroy them.

The finest of God’s servants in this crooked generation of ours lie under the same curse. ‘We may thank them,’ say the profane, ‘for all the miseries of our nation; we were doing fine until they tried to reform us.’ Do not blame the good medicine that was administered, but the corrupt body of the nation that could not keep it down!!

Who Stands for Who? ~ Part 2 ~

December 19, 2012 at 1:56 am (WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Matthew 5:38-48
“You have heard that our fathers were told, ‘Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you not to stand up against someone who does you wrong. On the contrary, if someone hits you on the right cheek, let him hit you on the left cheek too! If someone wants to sue you for your shirt, let him have your coat as well! And if a soldier forces you to carry his pack for one mile, carry it for two! When someone asks you for something, give it to him; when someone wants to borrow something from you, lend it to him.
You have heard that our fathers were told, ‘Love your neighbor – and hate your enemy,’ But I tell you, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! Then you will become children of your Father in heaven. For He makes His sun shine on good and bad people alike, and He sends rain to the righteous and unrighteous alike. What reward do you get if you love only those who love you? Why, even tax collectors do that! And if you are friendly only to your friends, are you doing anything out of the ordinary? Even the Goyim (Gentiles) do that! Therefore, be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Wow! I was raised on the quoting of scripture. And I can tell you NO ONE knows what to do with these verses. They have been cut up, inverted, rearranged, and exempted. These words are among the hardest Yeshua (Jesus) ever taught. Right up there with eating His body and drinking His blood!

In our society today these stand as a road block to the progressive movement of “believing in oneself” and “standing up for what’s ‘right’. All of the “movements” against violence, abuse, crime, and phobia’s use language that is directly opposite of Yeshua’s here in Matthew. The language…hesitates…with human logic.

“God said that but He can’t mean its okay for people to be abusive! Shall we tell a child being molested to continue inviting their abuser into their bed!?! Shall we tell the abused spouse to ‘just offer the other cheek’?!? This scripture must be missing something…perhaps God meant…….”

But there it is in black and white, no matter the translation, binding, language; “if someone hits you on the right cheek offer him the left also”.
Let someone sue you, and for more than they have a “right” to. Give if asked, not give if you have, or want. Lend if asked, not if you can. Hmmmm…these words stand in direct opposition to even the christian teachings of yesterday and today. They are so directly opposite of how a human thinks we “adjust” their meanings and invent forms of tolerance. (There’s that word, did you look it up?) But let’s clarify nowhere does Yeshua say, “It’s ok, for abusers to abuse, persecutors to persecute, suer’s to sue, no He doesn’t say its right to do these things. He is telling us a truth we must trust, but don’t see easily. That offering both cheeks, is not saying its okay! We think that way. God is telling us to decide Who to let think for us! Us or Him.

But here’s the thing! Ready? Yeshua then exampled those exact words all the way to His last breath on the cross!

He didn’t just say it, He did it, exactly sentence for sentence, word for word, action for inaction! He showed us how, what we get stuck on is the why. If we could just understand His logic here, perhaps if He would clarify, then we could obey! If you begin to see the danger here, keep reading.

The point is this: the Father in heaven is at His throne and He will not, does not miss a thing. Let Him stand for you. The illusion is that we don’t see immediate results so He must be sleeping! Oh, my dear fellowsheep, don’t believe that! Our Father sees and His justice is immediate, we are not on or in our timing! How else could Yeshua and our Brother Steven have prayed that God not hold their persecutors abuse against them? (Acts 7:60 & Luke 23:34) They must have known something most do not! That in heaven time is now! And if we loose something here on earth it is loosed in heaven. (Matthew 18:18) That our trust is powerful when placed in God’s hands! Our lives become extraordinary instead of ordinary. As Yeshua said, “Even the Gentiles do that!” Gentiles at that time were people who lived and had never heard from Jehovah God. Never read the Ten Commandments. They were “Bible illiterate”. They had had no guidance from the One and Only Living God.

Today, there are so few of these kinds of people, they are the minority not majority! God has kept His promise, the Whole World has easy access to Him now! I don’t mean easy as in those who pay with their lives to live for, study, walk and love Jesus is easy. I mean the accessibility to God, His Word and His voice has never been easier than it is today.

Yeshua is telling us here Who to stand for! And its not ourselves, our things, our rights, our “truths”. But HIS! Because He stands for us, and we are being asked to trust that its enough. Oh, how we must die to ourselves to do what He asks! What He showed us. We become less He becomes more!

Here’s the most common definition to the word tolerance:
– a fair, objective, and permissive attitude towards those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality – differ from one’s own.

You can not read the Bible without understanding 2 things about our little definition to this word where God stands.
1) God is the most tolerant of those who differ from Him.
2) He is not permissive of those ways that differ from His.

One day the world over will see both His extreme patience towards those who opposed Him and His lack of permissiveness to it! What evil seemingly “gets away with” now, will be reconciled one day. All will see, nothing was “gotten away with”. We either live everyday as if that’s absolutely true, or we don’t. This is trust/faith in God.

Final note:
Notice verse 45 from the scripture at the top?
“Then you will become children of your Father in heaven.” This can not be understated. To do, as Yeshua says, is to become a Child of God. We are not asked to do only what feels right or seems logical to us. We are asked not manipulated, not pushed, asked to trust only what God says, just because He said it, if we believe He is truly God.

Proverbs 19:11
People with good sense are slow to anger, and it is their glory to overlook an offense.

Proverbs 25:21
If someone who hates you is hungry, give him food to eat; and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.

Romans 12:14, 17-19, 21
Bless those who persecute you – bless them, don’t curse them!

Repay no one evil for evil, but try to do what everyone regards as good. If possible, and to the extent that it depends on you, live in peace with all people. Never seek revenge, my friends, instead, leave that to God’s anger; for in the Tanakh (Old Testament) it is written, “Adonai (the Lord) says, ‘Vengeance is My responsibility; I will repay.'”

Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.

John 17:9
I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world, but those You have given to Me, because they are Yours.
