The Fall into Self Absorption

December 30, 2017 at 2:41 pm (WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

In Hebrew, the phrase ‘the eyes of both of them were opened’ can be correctly interpreted in our English comprehension today as:

‘Then they became aware of themselves.’

Before this pivotal moment awareness of one’s self was non-existent. That is phenomenal! Notice closely how the second half of this verse confirms this.

So they sewed fig leaves together to make themselves loincloths.’

First of all fig leaf was a ridiculous choice of covering. Neither hardy nor even comfy. Later in verse 21, God makes them fitting cloths to accommodate their new self aware self. Sturdy and comfortable. Yet it cost an innocent life. Self absorption always cost a life! Secondly, they had never before this moment even thought to ‘make something for themselves’. It simply wasn’t needed, desired, or known; this idea of making something for oneself or of one’s self. They did die in that moment. Not from our human perspective after the fall. Death means one ceases to exist, physically present to touch and be. Yet to Adonai, the death was that now we had the capacity to live like we were the most important thing to consider. True life has no need to consider itself. This is why Yeshua was able to say so simply: “Do not consider/worry about what you will eat or what you will wear.”  Really what He was saying was ‘don’t think about yourself.’ Self absorption kills life. Envy, jealousy, hatred, rage, greed; these things killed Yeshua, these things killed many and still do. These things are prime examples of how everything around one becomes all about them. Worry grows where contentment was planted. Considering oneself becomes the cancer, all of humanity was infected by it. There’s no scripture that says, think about yourself, not one. In every scripture that refers to a personal inventory, it’s God who is the one considering us, cleansing us, making us new. We are told to consider our actions, namely how they will – first of all reflect and effect Adonai, –  secondly how they will effect others. How they effect us is determined by the result of Adonai and others coming before or after one own self. Most of us know it’s usually ugly if it’s after.

Let’s fast forward to the next pivotal moment. Where Yeshua (Jesus) points out the key to following Him.

John 15:9-14

Just as My Father has loved Me, I too have loved you; so stay in My love. If you keep My commands, you will stay in My love – just as I have kept My Father’s commands and stay in His love. I have said this so that My joy may be in you, and your joy be complete. This is My command: that you keep on loving each other just as I have loved you. No one has greater love than a person who lays down his life for his friends. You are My friends, if you do what I command you.

I say somewhat loosely that this is a pivotal moment. On one hand every Word that came from Yeshua’s lips was pivotal. Yet here we see Him adress the first pivotal moment in the beginning where self absorption took hold. No, He doesn’t mention Genesis 3. Not like we in our reference minded ways tend to do. From the Hebraic mind that moment was never needed to be recalled only on occasion. That moment was the focus of all misdeeds in the whole of history. It was never forgotten, always in the mind of those who sought after and followed the One True God. Yeshua spoke from history at every point in the present for the future. He covered every aspect of time in every Word He spoke. He is, was, and always will be infinite! Our minds do not naturally process this way. It requires the Holy Spirit to even begin to. Hence why so often Yeshua said, “He who has ears let him hear.” In essence He was anointing each soul at the moment to be opened, much like the eyes were opened at the fruit-fall but in reverse. To become more aware of one’s self will never be the goal of God’s Kingdom. Let your communion with God be where you get your revelation time for your own self – from His eyes only, who we are, what needs changed – there is no condemnation but more importantly – there’s no focus on one’s self.  Self help is evil as there is no such thing. We could no more help ourselves than we can dance and the rain pours. If man kind wants to be ‘bettered’, to improve upon what they are in and of themselves, it will take God alone to conceive a new perception in the heart and mind of us all. For only in Him can our love become true love, our kindness true kindness, selfless and unaccounting.

I’ve known only a few people whom I would consider having been given the gift of love. It’s as natural as breathing for them to drop anything for someone without thinking of inconvenience or their own self. Without accounting what they do for who and especially with no expectation of any return. The majority of us, if honest, will admit that it takes work to weed those ugly things out with the help of the Spirit of God. Not that the joy Yeshua speaks of isn’t an instant reward. Most people I know really feel joy at helping another, giving to someone. Yet we must remember what the thief comes to steal in God’s Kingdom. Joy. How does he do it? By bringing back to mind awareness of self. Expectation creeps in, resentment erodes gratitude and begins to take account of time lost, energy expelled, feelings hurt, thank you’s not expressed, love not returned. In other words the fig leaves of self absorption begin to find their ways into our hands and not even a second has elapsed before we find we sew to cover what our God created soul automatically knows is shameful.

Look at the difference between these two pictures.

They say a picture speaks a thousand words. In application to what we’ve covered so far, what do these pictures say to you? It’s a lifestyle and total change in thinking in every way. The difference will astound you. One is community and selflessness. The other is convenience and self centered. One invest in the currency of the Kingdom of heaven, the other invest in the things that rust and moth destroy. One is the way of this world, my house, my life, my responsibilities, my needs, my timing, my opinion, my rights. One is the way of God in this world. Where we live, we have responsibilities, we have needs, we have time to give, energy to share. Where my heart is not settled until those around me are better fed than I.

What would the world be like, according to the Father and Yeshua’s ways? The question has been asked, written about, talked about forever. Yet we can not read, study and listen our way into application. What can you do to enter in, now, where you are, today? This is always the purpose of the question. The purpose of such writings and talks. Action, trust in action, love in action, our walk with God evident by what becomes a natural flow from the Spirit from our union with Yeshua. His coming is imminent. Yet, the mission, the call, – has not changed. We wait, we look for Him. But we do so by looking at others. The church is failing in this. The average Believer is failing in this. So the world looks like a empty plot with cranes lifting heavy objects into place for one person at a time, for physical comfort and individual needs and wants. Completely clueless of the neighbor, unaware of the Father’s heart breaking. The Father who made all things, for the purpose of love. Not self reliance.

I leave off with a small handful of the Word that shares this view. From the beginning of our Bible to the end, Adonai, over and over again, points to this fundamental element of His heart. It would be wise for anyone desiring to enter into that Heart to look every single one of them up and ask the Living Word to breath this life into their soul, to again go back to the garden – where self absorption was non-existent. Discovery of God and all He did, does and desires to do is the only thing that matters. May we all be shaped by the wind of His mouth in it! Again just like at the beginning – where He said: “Let there be Light!” And there was!

Galatians 6:2

Bear one another’s burdens – in this way you will be fulfilling the Torah’s true meaning, which the Messiah upholds.

Philippians 2:3-4

Do nothing out of rivalry or vanity; but, in humility, regard each other as better than yourselves – look out for each other’s interest not just your own.

1 John – the entire book.

Proverbs 21:21

He who pursues righteousness and kindness finds life, prosperity, and honor.

Proverbs 28:27

He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who hides his eyes will get curses in plenty.

Proverbs 29:13

The poor and the oppressor have this in common: Adonai gives light to the eyes of both.

All of Matthew chapter 6.

All of Isaiah chapter 5.

Deuteronomy 10:12-21

So now, Israel, all that Adonai your God asks from you is to fear Adonai your God, follow His ways, love Him and serve Adonai your God with all your heart and all your being; to obey for your own good, the mitzvah  (general principles for living) and regulations of Adonai which I am giving you today. See, the sky, the heaven beyond the sky, the earth and everything on it all belong to Adonai your God. Only Adonai took enough pleasure in your ancestors to love them and choose their descendants after them – yourselves – above all people’s, as He does today. Therefore, circumcise the foreskin of your heart; and don’t be stiff necked any longer! For Adonai your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty, and awesome God, who has no favorites and accepts no bribes. He secures justice for the orphan and the widow; He loves the foreigner, giving him food and clothing. Therefore, you are to love the foreigner, since you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. You are to fear Adonai your God, serve Him, cling to Him and swear by His Name. He is your praise and He is your God, who has done for you these great and awesome things, which you have seen with your own eyes.

Deuteronomy 15:7-11

If someone among you is needy, one of your brothers, in any of your towns in your land which Adonai your God is giving you, you are not to harden your heart or shut your hand from giving to your needy brother. No, you must open your hand to him and lend him enough to meet his need and enable him to obtain what he wants. Guard yourself against allowing your heart to entertain the mean-spirited thought that because the seventh year, the year of sh’mittah (release) is at hand, you would be stingy toward your needy brother and not give him anything; for then he may cry out to Adonai against you, and it will be your sin. Rather, you must give to him; and you are not to be grudging when you give to him. If you do this, Adonai your God will bless you in all your work, in everything you undertake – for there will always be poor people in the land. That is why I am giving you this order, ‘ You must open your hand to your poor and needy brother in your land.’

Micah 6:8

Human being, you have already been told what is good, what Adonai demands of you – no more than to act justly, love grace and walk in purity with your God.

I will forever be grateful the Lord led me to Mr. George McDonald’s writings. The best thing I’ve ever read about ‘Self’ has been written by his hand. See link below.

Psalms 95:7
For He is our God, and we are the sheep in His pasture, the sheep in His care. If only today you would listen to His voice:

Matthew 10:7-10 ~ Yeshua (Jesus) speaking
As you go, proclaim, ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is near, heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those afflicted with tzara’at (leprosy), expel demons. You have received without paying, so give without asking payment. Don’t take money in your belts, no gold, no silver, no copper, and for the trip don’t take a pack, an extra shirt or a walking stick – a worker should be given what he needs.

Mark 9:7
Then a cloud enveloped them; and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is My Son, whom I love, Listen to Him!

John 10:27 ~ Yeshua speaking
My sheep listen to My voice, I recognize them, they follow Me.

John 12:26
If someone is serving Me, let him follow Me; wherever I am, My servant will be there too. My Father will honor anyone who serves Me.

If I could put to simple words, what I believe my “call” is and thereby what this Blogs “theme” would be it would be:

“The key to walking with God is believing He exist, and that we exist to know Him. We know Him by His voice, what He says directly to us. He speaks through His Word, about who He is, what He’s like, about His, desires, loves, and what He has made. In the “Old” Testament He spoke both directly to people and through prophets and priests chosen specifically to teach the masses. In the “New” Testament He sent His Son, thereby fulfilling scripture (what He said) “They will all be taught by Adonai (the Lord). He, Himself. ( John 6:45; Is. 54:13; Heb. 8:11; Jer. 31:31-34) Changing our perspective on sin. Not sin, itself, for sin was/is always that we did/do not listen and obey HIM! So Yeshua (Jesus), Salvation – died for all the deeds of sin, offering up Himself and becoming the NEW Way to the Father. Not that its “new” in that there are those from before Yeshua’s birth that are with the Father. But, because of Yeshua’s work as a human, we have a God who came down personally and spoke in a way we understand in a “new” way so as to hear and upon trusting in His visible work, we can now hear the Father directly in our hearts each and everyday, in all things, so as to relate to Him. Out of this listening, relating, communing, and obeying we know Him! Hence we serve Him out of passion and love built up in our communication with Him because we trust in Yeshua, fall back with all we are in His work, and obey as He sends us out everyday.”

My passion is “bent” towards the emphasis on His Voice! Sharing what it sounds like in me, what He taught in His previous “speakings” (the Word), and how accessible His voice is now because of our wonderful Savior Yeshua! To ANY who will listen, both the lost and the saved, since He is the only One who really knows the difference! The burden He has placed in my heart is how those He loves have been so deceived as to believe that God, Himself, does not speak to His children directly anymore! That His “story” and interaction with real spoken words has ended in Revelation. This simply is not true, and would contradict everything from Genesis to Revelations God has said!

The scripture in Revelations that gets tortured into oblivion is found in chapter 22, verse 18-19.

I (Yeshua) warn everyone hearing the words of the prophecy in this book that if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues written in this book. And if anyone takes anything away from the words in this book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the Tree of Life and the holy city, as described in this book.

Herein, lies the rub. The “book” being referred to; which one? Most say the Bible as a whole. But how can this be?? Read again the very specific words He used: “words of the prophecy” and “words in the book of this prophecy“. The key word here is prophecy!
Was creation itself prophesied? Adam, Eve? No. The Bible consist of teachings, stories of people who followed God, stories of people who did not, some prophesied about, some not! Not every word in the Bible is prophesy! I suggest to you that the book He is referring to is Revelations. Look! Look how it has been added to and taken away from so far!! People have taken away the word prophecy and added every book of the Bible with those two scriptures alone!! Further proof is found in the language surrounding these words; plagues written in this book and Tree of Life and holy city as described in this book.
The next argument is that the plagues, Tree of Life, and holy city are prophesied about in several other books in the Bible. Yes, they are. But there again, its key word is prophetic, prophecy. Seems Yeshua was very concerned with how we read prophesies and interpret them. Because He knew who many would come along and do the adding and subtracting! In other words, don’t mess around in this department! If you don’t understand it, don’t try to add to your own understanding! Wait until He, Himself teaches you from His! Revelations is the most controversial book in the Bible, by both “believers” and “non-believers”! Yet, since the Bible as a whole is not just prophecy we know that this interpretation can not be true! God, Himself has been adding and adding and adding to Genesis has He not? Has He not done this through His people? And if His plan stretches to eternity, how can we possibly think He has ceased from 70 AD to add by speaking to His chosen? This simply would not make sense! Paul, Peter, Titus, Timothy their books would then be rendered as cursed and pointless since some of their writings were written AFTER Revelations! The Bible is not written chronologically! How do we know this? Because the “End” is written about but no one has seen it yet but God!!! Is He now, silent? Don’t believe it for a second!!!

I will leave off there with that thought and get to my main point. (Sorry, my passion here is popping out 🙂 ).

Serving with our gifts is speaking, writing, teaching and sharing all we are learning about God, and experiencing as a result of that with ANYONE who will listen! Without asking for anything in return, except God’s approval. There are hundred’s of thousand’s of blogs, musicians, artist, and so on doing these very things on the internet! Brother’s and Sister’s SUPPORT them! Share their post! Like, rate, email and reblog them! Its FREE! No charge! Comment and share with them your own thoughts and encouragements! Never in the history of the world has Jesus, Yeshua, God the Father been so PUBLISHED! First by the Bible, the BEST SELLING BOOK ever and still going strong, and now through His children here, like me, blogging!
Sure there are those who are misleading, untaught, and flat out twisting God, Yeshua and His Word, but these are easy to know when you are…here’s the word again…listening to Him!

One of the “signs” of His “ownership” is that we pour out what He has given and have no thought to how it gets “recognized”. The Lord is our Provider, and He will use all to bring glory to His name! Even our mistakes! Do we trust that? For myself, resoundingly YES! I don’t need to “make sure” everyone who speaks His name is His! He does that! If I have found anything lovely, pure, of good repute, building up in Him, I share it! Knowing that I, myself, have so much to learn, still see only small glimpses of truth, and can not be perfect, but my heart….oh how my heart does know and love Elohim, God, Yeshua, Jesus, the Spirit my Counselor! My blog may have errors, in grammar, in total perspective, in tone, in many things, but the error IS NOT found in my heart towards my God! Neither will everyone else “get it all right”; but our spirits can be listening to another’s and see that they are marked by His Spirit! This is what the body of Yeshua the Messiah is all about.
We heal the sick, not only of body, but the most important part, the heart/soul, when we share about our Hope – Yeshua! “Un-crippling” the lame by encouraging someone else’s walk with Him! He is the cure for the most devastating leprosy ever…deadening of the heart! The payment has been made for this!! Yeshua! Jesus! We have no need for recognition beyond Him! The best gift we ever give is sharing how He has been received by us as our gift! Let us continue to share! Continue to Walk! Continue to give FREE of charge in the Spirit and Character of the One from Whom we have received – Yeshua the Messiah! May He get the glory now and forevermore!

Revelations 21:6-7
And He said to me, “It is done! I am the ‘A’ and the ‘Z’, the Beginning and the End. To anyone who is thirsty I Myself will give free of charge from the Fountain of Life. He who wins the victory will receive these things, and I will be their God, and He will be My son.

Revelations 22:17
The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come!’ Let anyone who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let anyone who is thirsty come – let anyone who wishes, take the water of life free of charge.”

Isaiah 55:1-3
“All you who are thirsty, come to the water! You without money, come, buy, and eat! Yes, come! Buy wine and milk without money – it’s free!
Why spend money for what isn’t food, your wages for what doesn’t satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and you will eat well, you will enjoy the fat off the land.
Open your ears and come to Me; listen well, and you will live – I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the grace I assured David.

1 Corinthians 4:7
After all, what makes you so special? What do you have that you didn’t receive as a gift? And in fact it was a gift, why do you boast as if it weren’t?

Hebrews 3:7
“Today, if you hear God’s voice, don’t harden your hearts, as you did in the Bitter Quarrel,” (where we quarreled bitterly in the wilderness with Moses)

Thanks Giving

November 18, 2012 at 4:58 am (WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

image

Rarely do we have a “holiday” or celebration with two actions, verbs, forms of worship conjoined into one word. Thanks. Giving.

There is always much emphasis on the first word. Thanks. Some people choose to name something they are thankful for everyday of November. Or at least until the end of the actual day. They usually start out as: “Today, I am grateful/thankful for…” Nothing wrong with gratitude or thankfulness! Good things these are. A command by God to do  – daily, hourly, minutely. At least that’s how I interpret always and continually. November gets the highlight, like pew-fillers on Easter Sunday. Or the thoughts poured out into material gifts on Christmas.
There are the other parts of those sweet scriptures that jump out too. See if you can see them “hopping” up and down 🙂

Ephesians 5:20
always give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ).

Colossians 3:17
That is, everything you do or say, do in the name of the Lord Yeshua, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

1 Thessalonians 5:18
In everything give thanks, for this is what God wants from you who are united with the Messiah Yeshua.

Ok, so I helped the wee words hop off a little…(big grin). Giving thanks rarely finds a empty heart. BUT! Giving thanks for everything?? Wow, that’s a tall order. How in heavens name does one thank God in the name of Yeshua for…constipation…root canals…acne…hatred…violence…murder? There must be more to thankfulness than feelings and lip service here. Maybe the answer is hidden in the word give.
Let’s see…how else is give “paired up” in scripture? Hmmm…the most obvious is for-give. Perhaps there’s more to the word give than English supplies as substance? In Hebrew give is defined as: To make a present; to present a gift; to grant, allow or bestow by formal action. In Hebrew thought, give, gift and love are all connected, almost inseparable! To forgive is a bestowing of unearned allowance, acceptance, love. To give thanks is a gift of love and acceptance of God’s goodness, even if what we see as hard, wrong, unforgivable, hard to accept; we give thanks for what we don’t see…the good God is, does, and will bring out of it. Giving is the rather “slip under the radar” part of Thanks-giving. Its easy to find something we like to be thankful for. But – everything? Whoooaa! I just don’t feel thankful for so many things, namely because those things make me feel bad. So I see, what a gift indeed it must be to God when I tell my feelings to take the back seat, and with my whole will thank God out of love for Him for everything. It says, “What You say is truth Lord, You cover all sin, You make it all good, You have the mightiest power and “upper-hand” in all things. I trust You, I love You, and my flesh fails to submit with feelings but I will because of Yeshua, in Yeshua choose actions and speech that represent that Truth regardless of how I feel.”
Its a powerful gift, and a gift that God loves and keeps the thanks-giving going all year long, not just November.

A note:
Something that profoundly changed my understanding of when scripture reads: in Yeshua’s (Jesus’s) name. Referring to asking for anything, and in the above scriptures; give thanks for everything in His name. It does not mean: simply attach the words Jesus, Yeshua, Christ, God, Lord to whatever you are praying for either in praise (thanks) or petition. Its a sad thing that such ways of thinking turns God’s power into human dictation. Again the word name is and means character, spirit, what the person represents as who they are, not a word you call a person to specify who you are talking to or about (or in this case asking for something from). We don’t name our children traditionally this way, it has lost its favor. Biblical names all mean and represent their character, who they are. I will leave it to you to research this to completion. But, quickly added; to ask for anything and thank God for everything in Yeshua’s name in English translated the way it was meant to read is:
Ask for/give thanks for everything in submission and unity to all that Yeshua is, did, does and wants, in His character and the Spirit of His character. Hence if we ask for something that goes against His name/character, ya likely are asking for nothing, thanking Him for something He would not Himself give thanks for (an example: He would never thank His Father for the downfall, ruin, and eternal torment of ANYONE) He is thankful to His Father, for His grace towards all He has made, whether they deserve it or not. He asks His Father for the things that really matter, needs of the soul, a new car is likely not a soul need, more money (yes, it doesn’t matter how poor), things materialistically, not soul needs. As we begin to accept that, life begins to change dramatically for everyone. He’s not Santa Claus or the Wizard of Oz, His Kingdom barters on a totally different “currency”. So we can thank God in His name that He doesn’t give us all we ask for, and doesn’t receive all we often say “THANK GOD OR THANK JESUS for that!” Yes?

Thanksgiving is an amazing celebration, an opportunity to give and be thankful that sets the pace for the “good race”. Its a wonderful thing that God gives us yearly reminders what Life is really about! Giving all of ourselves to Him, thanking Yeshua (Jesus) for all He has done to make everything worth thanking Him for! To Him be the glory, now and forever!

Yes, indeed His cross changes everything!
Happy Thanksgiving to you all, may you be blessed in Yeshua’s name! 🙂

Grace and peace in Yeshua the Messiah ❤
