June 10, 2013 at 3:40 am (Thoughts to Ponder) (, , , , , , , , , , )

The above quote was a “line” in a movie I watched recently. I wrote it down…it grabbed the attention that ponders long after initial reception. It brought to mind a similar concept from another movie where this teacher had a class of resistant students, prone to give up out of a victim mentality than fight for what gifts were available for the taking. She gave the whole class an A and said, “But its up to you to keep it.”

As I chewed on the above quote these questions fell like assembly line parts in my thoughts.

What is character?

Where does it come from?

What defines its full development?

As is my habit of late…I asked those questions…search my own resources for answers and then approached my Heavenly Father,  handed Him my “paper” and asked Him to “grade” it…then He tudored me in the correcting, teaching, redefining and settled my heart in what for now He would like me to stay firm on. I say for now, with emphasis on now, because He never stops expanding and developing truth in me. As I live He often settles me where I need to put to action a lesson, but later will move me again in correcting, teaching, redefining, refining that which He began at another “point in time”. Character is a constant state of development. Character is defined by a Who not a what. Character is Lived not a theory to adopt. Its structure is taught to the mind/heart; but its built on the movement of actions taken based on what He teaches.

Honesty is a character.
God is Honesty/Truth. His person, nature, and every action He takes personifies this truth.
As the Master/Maker/Origin of Honesty He alone can teach what its actions look like.
He may teach, don’t cheat. Cheating is anything that says you know something you don’t, have something you don’t, don’t have something you do and so on; and making out for your advantage the implication of that which is untrue.
Its lying, albeit rather indirectly at times. Often called a “little white lie”. Often explained by saying, “Well, its not all a lie.” Or explained as okay because one must protect themselves by doing so. Or excused because a greater authority “cheats” so “now you have to” to keep from being cheated. (I.E. cheating on taxes).

Now where He asks us to stay and stand firm is that for a time…wherever you have cheated from the least to the greatest you Turn and do the opposite of cheating. This can take some time…but the development of this character will “move on” to all sorts of “lie lessons”. Until He has decided our honesty has been fully developed. If we still draw breath in our earthen fallen shells, we are in constant development. Our character of honesty forms and takes shape to reflect Him, yet we will always need to keep learning. There is no graduation from Character class. (This lesson teaches the character…humility)

Jeremiah 10:23

Adonai (Lord), I know the way of humans is not in their control, humans are not able to direct their steps as they walk.

Mark 8:36-38 ~ Yeshua (Jesus) speaking…

Indeed, what will it benefit a person if he gains the whole world but forfeits his life? What could a person give in exchange for his life? For if someone is ashamed of Me and of what I say in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also will be ashamed of him when He comes in His Father’s glory with holy angels.

Romans 5:1-5

So, since we have come to be considered righteous by God because of our trust, let us continue to have shalom (peace/completeness) with God through our Lord, Yeshua the Messiah. Also through Him and on the ground of our trust, we have gained access to this grace in which we stand; so let us boast about the hope of experiencing God’s glory. But not only that, let us boast in our troubles; because we know that trouble produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope; and this hope does not let us down, because God’s love for us has already been poured out in our hearts through the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) who has been given to us.

One of the simplest examples of the quote above is to reword it just so:
If you are a virgin, the only way to “keep it” is to remain sexually pure. Once you loose it, it can not be “brought back”. The profoundness is obvious, it is easier to keep virginity than to recover it! Because once it is lost, there is no going back. Though keeping it may not be easy; compared to the toil of attempts to “recover” it – keeping is a cake walk!

Likewise, the Commandments of Character, God gave by speaking, teaching, directing at the beginning. Then He gave them “character development time” in action…to prove the statement above. Its a whole lot easier to refrain from lying than to lie and try to regain trust. Not easy to do always but the alternative is harder! Again, a lie cannot be undone. Only exposed and repented of. Recovery of integrity is much harder work than the hard work of keeping it. We start with “A’s”; keeping them is never easy, but easier than bringing the grade back from an “F”.

The Word of God and His ways are very elementary in concept. I praise Him for this!!

Of or To the Redeemed

April 5, 2013 at 12:29 am (Remodeling the Mind) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

What do You want me to do, Lord?” Asked a Child of the Redeemed

What are You doing, Lord?” Screamed a Child at the Redeemer

If this is Your will for me; help me to do what You will.” Said a Child of the Redeemed

If this is Your will for me; then You will have to do it.” Said the Child to the Redeemer

Lord, You are good and because You are the Cause of all…I will worship You with these troubles.” Said the Child of the Redeemed

Oh God, how can I worship You with all these troubles?” Asked the Child to the Redeemer

There’s a way that seems “right” to me, Lord. Show me Your way and the exact right will be done.” Said the Child of the Redeemer

God give me strength to do this thing.” Said the Child to the Redeemer without seeking a better way.

God in heaven, I praise Your ways and thoughts, see there Your Child who has not and get the glory on earth as in heaven! How can I enter into Your will for them?” The Child of the Redeemer requested.

God, that soul is lost. I pray for them to read their Bible and ask for Your help.” Judged the Child to the Redeemer

Yeshua (Jesus) show me how to become an answer to prayer as You have taught us how to pray.” Said the Child of the Redeemer.

Jesus thank You for teaching me the words to pray.” A child sent a thought to a Redeemer.

Lord, I thank You that You have shown me how to obey and leave my feelings out of my actions.” Praised the Child of the Redeemer.

God, change my circumstances so I can praise You, change my feelings so I can forgive, give me x,y, z so that I can truly obey You.” Told the Child to the Redeemer.

Father, I thank You for my dying many deaths today, my flesh fought hard to win its way. But You Yeshua (Jesus) showed me how, and there’s no doubt You live in me now.” Offered the Child of the Redeemed.

God forgive my sins today, and the ones I keep repeating. Make me better tomorrow.” Cried the Child to the Redeemer.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

There are such subtle distinctions between each Child’s prayers. Yet they open and close doors between the Kingdom and the world. Can you see them? The small sliver of despondency? The You do for me instead of You do/did and in me? The difference between the changed from moment to moment; and unchanged. One communicates an alive and active relationship with God. One communicates an acknowledgement that God has potential. Both get used by God; one attempts to use Him; the other knows Him. Hidden in the language of “victimization” one defeats and feels defeated. Full of praise and trust in a Real and Present, Just and True, Loving and Guiding Father; even the appearance of defeat does not sway the final trusting choice and invitation to action.

So much focus in today’s society is spent on “here’s what God can do for you”. Like a new chain of store that offers discounted “spiritual fruits”. At a park I was handed a track that said, Get the Most out of Family Life. I opened it and read, the person who handed it to me seemed so dedicated to its message. It read like a point for point on 5 how to’s to get God to make you happy with your family. Scripture was sewn in and around like so much decor. No mention of how we have made God a by-line, a method, a system instead of The Author, Originator, Designer of Family. Not one suggestion to simply ask Him…anything! My heart simply breaks with the breaking of His.
A popular radio broadcast on christian radio belted out the FM Static of “Save Marriages”; and proceeded to focus on gay-marriage verses “real” marriage. I pushed the off button, and asked,

Lord, would gay marriage even be an issue if “real” marriages hadn’t forsaken You in the first place?

Its so much easier to point out the wrongs elsewhere. Yet if…if…each Child of the Redeemed focused on the Redeemer within them and thereby all their relationships flowed out of the communion with the Creator…what would there be to say then?

How do we miss the mark when there’s only One that’s so obviously missed?

Who is asking these kinds of questions among the “leaders” of our community’s? Who is willing to be the “stumper of pride”? So much fluff about “self-esteem” and only being “encouraging” damns up the river of Living Water we are called to be. Encouraging is mistaken for “making no offence”. How can correction come from such thinking? Not correction as in punishment, but perspective changing. Vision correction. Are eye-doctors shunned for giving glasses to a near-sighted person? Why is correction a four-letter word? I praise the correcting of my vision…because it helps me! This is the kind of help that this scripture means:

Psalms 121

If I raise my eyes to the hills, from where will my help come?
My help comes from Adonai, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip –
your Guardian is not asleep.
No, the Guardian of Israel never slumbers or sleeps.
Adonai is your Guardian; at your right hand Adonai provides you with shade – the sun can’t strike you during the day or even the moon at night.
Adonai will guard you against all harm; He will guard your life.
Adonai will guard your coming and going from now on and forever

The use of the eyes in this passage is no mere matter of convenience! Our vision is in constant need of a “Lens crafter”. Since He is the Maker of heaven and earth, there is nothing on it or in it He doesn’t have an perfect plan and purpose for. So essentially there is nothing too small to not “consult” Him about…much less the “big” stuff.

Are we Children OF the Redeemer?
Or are we Children simply made by Him…unaware of Who He is, and including Him as a matter of convenience when it seems to “fit our need”?

These questions burn within me…and I am placing all I am in the furnace of His answers. I can begin only in me…holding my pace in submission to the Pace-Maker’s promise…that He, Himself will speak to me and lead me. It changes me day to day. Can you hear Him???

“See…I make all things NEW!”

A True Inheritance

January 23, 2013 at 2:35 am (Remodeling the Mind) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

A True Inheritance – in which the true business of life is not to get what you can, but rather to give what you can, and to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly before your God.

All things are shadows of Thee, Lord:
The sun himself is but a shade
My soul is but the shadow of Thy Word,
A candle sun-bedayed!

Diamonds are shadows of the sun;
They drink his rays and show a spark:
My soul some gleams of Thy great shine hath won,
And round me slays the dark.

All knowledge is but broken shades –
In gulfs of dark a wandering horde:
Together rush the parted glory-grades –
And lo, Thy garment, Lord!

My soul, the shadow, still is light,
Because the shadow falls from Thee;
I turn, dull candle, to the center bright,
And home flit shadowy.

Shine, shine; make me Thy shadow still –
The brighter still the more Thy shade;
My motion by Thy lovely moveless will!
My darkness, light delayed!.

For a Child of God is not bound to walk in the dark, but only to wait until the light comes. Neither must they act, merely for the sake of doing something, and thus run the risk of doing wrong. They that believeth shall not make haste. They have nothing of the common mammonistic feeling of the enormous importance of money, and do not feel that it lay upon them a heavier weight of duty than any other of the gifts of God. If a poet is not bound to rush into the world with his poem, surely a rich man/woman is not bound to rush into the world with their money. Rather set a herd of wild horses loose in a city! A Child of God must first know how to use their money before they begin to spend it. And the way to use money is not so easily discovered as some would think, for it is not one of God’s ready means of doing good. The rich, as such has no reason to look upon themselves as specially favored. They do have reason to think themselves especially tried. In loving a certain youth, Jesus did him the greatest kindness He had in His power by telling him to give his wealth to the poor, and then to follow Him in poverty.

The first question is not how to do good with money, but how to keep from doing harm with it. Whether rich or poor, a Child of God must first of all do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with their God. Then, if they be rich, God will let them know how to spend. It is not because of God’s poverty that the world is so slowly redeemed. Not the “righteous expenditure” of money will save it, but that of life and soul and spirit – and that of nerve and muscle, blood and brain. All these our Lord spent – but no money. Therefore of all means for saving the world, or doing good, as it is called, money comes last in order, and far behind.

~ Taken from The Laird’s Inheritance by George MacDonald ~
(I substituted “Child of God”, they, themselves, where the single gender of “man”, he, himself, his was George’s use. I felt it important as the times we live in differ now and so many “sensitivities” today can distract from the message when “man” is referred to in a general human-kind sense; as was the way it was used then without such distractions.  I am sure George would not feel put off in the least.) 🙂

Who Stands for Who? ~ Part 2 ~

December 19, 2012 at 1:56 am (WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Matthew 5:38-48
“You have heard that our fathers were told, ‘Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you not to stand up against someone who does you wrong. On the contrary, if someone hits you on the right cheek, let him hit you on the left cheek too! If someone wants to sue you for your shirt, let him have your coat as well! And if a soldier forces you to carry his pack for one mile, carry it for two! When someone asks you for something, give it to him; when someone wants to borrow something from you, lend it to him.
You have heard that our fathers were told, ‘Love your neighbor – and hate your enemy,’ But I tell you, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! Then you will become children of your Father in heaven. For He makes His sun shine on good and bad people alike, and He sends rain to the righteous and unrighteous alike. What reward do you get if you love only those who love you? Why, even tax collectors do that! And if you are friendly only to your friends, are you doing anything out of the ordinary? Even the Goyim (Gentiles) do that! Therefore, be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Wow! I was raised on the quoting of scripture. And I can tell you NO ONE knows what to do with these verses. They have been cut up, inverted, rearranged, and exempted. These words are among the hardest Yeshua (Jesus) ever taught. Right up there with eating His body and drinking His blood!

In our society today these stand as a road block to the progressive movement of “believing in oneself” and “standing up for what’s ‘right’. All of the “movements” against violence, abuse, crime, and phobia’s use language that is directly opposite of Yeshua’s here in Matthew. The language…hesitates…with human logic.

“God said that but He can’t mean its okay for people to be abusive! Shall we tell a child being molested to continue inviting their abuser into their bed!?! Shall we tell the abused spouse to ‘just offer the other cheek’?!? This scripture must be missing something…perhaps God meant…….”

But there it is in black and white, no matter the translation, binding, language; “if someone hits you on the right cheek offer him the left also”.
Let someone sue you, and for more than they have a “right” to. Give if asked, not give if you have, or want. Lend if asked, not if you can. Hmmmm…these words stand in direct opposition to even the christian teachings of yesterday and today. They are so directly opposite of how a human thinks we “adjust” their meanings and invent forms of tolerance. (There’s that word, did you look it up?) But let’s clarify nowhere does Yeshua say, “It’s ok, for abusers to abuse, persecutors to persecute, suer’s to sue, no He doesn’t say its right to do these things. He is telling us a truth we must trust, but don’t see easily. That offering both cheeks, is not saying its okay! We think that way. God is telling us to decide Who to let think for us! Us or Him.

But here’s the thing! Ready? Yeshua then exampled those exact words all the way to His last breath on the cross!

He didn’t just say it, He did it, exactly sentence for sentence, word for word, action for inaction! He showed us how, what we get stuck on is the why. If we could just understand His logic here, perhaps if He would clarify, then we could obey! If you begin to see the danger here, keep reading.

The point is this: the Father in heaven is at His throne and He will not, does not miss a thing. Let Him stand for you. The illusion is that we don’t see immediate results so He must be sleeping! Oh, my dear fellowsheep, don’t believe that! Our Father sees and His justice is immediate, we are not on or in our timing! How else could Yeshua and our Brother Steven have prayed that God not hold their persecutors abuse against them? (Acts 7:60 & Luke 23:34) They must have known something most do not! That in heaven time is now! And if we loose something here on earth it is loosed in heaven. (Matthew 18:18) That our trust is powerful when placed in God’s hands! Our lives become extraordinary instead of ordinary. As Yeshua said, “Even the Gentiles do that!” Gentiles at that time were people who lived and had never heard from Jehovah God. Never read the Ten Commandments. They were “Bible illiterate”. They had had no guidance from the One and Only Living God.

Today, there are so few of these kinds of people, they are the minority not majority! God has kept His promise, the Whole World has easy access to Him now! I don’t mean easy as in those who pay with their lives to live for, study, walk and love Jesus is easy. I mean the accessibility to God, His Word and His voice has never been easier than it is today.

Yeshua is telling us here Who to stand for! And its not ourselves, our things, our rights, our “truths”. But HIS! Because He stands for us, and we are being asked to trust that its enough. Oh, how we must die to ourselves to do what He asks! What He showed us. We become less He becomes more!

Here’s the most common definition to the word tolerance:
– a fair, objective, and permissive attitude towards those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality – differ from one’s own.

You can not read the Bible without understanding 2 things about our little definition to this word where God stands.
1) God is the most tolerant of those who differ from Him.
2) He is not permissive of those ways that differ from His.

One day the world over will see both His extreme patience towards those who opposed Him and His lack of permissiveness to it! What evil seemingly “gets away with” now, will be reconciled one day. All will see, nothing was “gotten away with”. We either live everyday as if that’s absolutely true, or we don’t. This is trust/faith in God.

Final note:
Notice verse 45 from the scripture at the top?
“Then you will become children of your Father in heaven.” This can not be understated. To do, as Yeshua says, is to become a Child of God. We are not asked to do only what feels right or seems logical to us. We are asked not manipulated, not pushed, asked to trust only what God says, just because He said it, if we believe He is truly God.

Proverbs 19:11
People with good sense are slow to anger, and it is their glory to overlook an offense.

Proverbs 25:21
If someone who hates you is hungry, give him food to eat; and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.

Romans 12:14, 17-19, 21
Bless those who persecute you – bless them, don’t curse them!

Repay no one evil for evil, but try to do what everyone regards as good. If possible, and to the extent that it depends on you, live in peace with all people. Never seek revenge, my friends, instead, leave that to God’s anger; for in the Tanakh (Old Testament) it is written, “Adonai (the Lord) says, ‘Vengeance is My responsibility; I will repay.'”

Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.

John 17:9
I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world, but those You have given to Me, because they are Yours.

Worthy is the Lamb!

September 26, 2012 at 11:42 am (Remodeling the Mind) (, , , , , , , , , , )

Revelation 5:6-14

Then I saw standing there with the throne and the four living beings, in the circle of elders, a Lamb that appeared to have been slaughtered. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the sevenfold Spirit of God sent out into all the earth. He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of the One sitting on the Throne. When He took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down in front of the Lamb. Each one held a harp and gold bowls filled with pieces of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people; and they sang a new song,

“You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals; because You were slaughtered; at the cost of blood You ransomed for God persons from every tribe, language, people and nation. You made them into a Kingdom for God to rule, cohanim (priest) to serve Him; and they will rule over the earth.”

Then I looked, and I heard the sound of a vast number of angels – thousands and thousands, millions and millions! They were all around the Throne, the living beings and elders; and they shouted out,

“Worthy is the slaughtered Lamb to receive power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory and praise!”

And I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, under the earth and on the sea – yes everything in them – saying,

“To the One sitting on the Throne and to the Lamb belong praise, honor, glory and power forever and ever!”

The four living beings said, “Amen!’ and the elders fell down and worshipped.

May we join them…

May we join them? A little check inside my spirit rings like a little service bell. Can I join them? With pre-occupation with how I do, when I do, what I do, if I do for Him? Is then the focus on the Bride or the Bridegroom? On the garment she wears or the crown on His Head? Focus on Him? Or focus on Him in me?

Ahhh, here He is! Here He is enthroned in my heart leading me into the Truth! Cascading my countenance to His glory!

Little checks (√) in the heart are His specialty! They call us out on the water to Him! There we “fall in” and join all of heaven and all creation in worship of…
