Shabbat Shalom! The Joy of Yeshua

May 25, 2017 at 11:07 pm (Thoughts to Ponder, WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , , , )

Anyone who has followed me on this blog has likely picked up that I am fond of the Hebrew language and the beauty of the traditions our Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) was brought up in and part of.

There is a growing anomosity and misunderstanding in the believing community I’d like to separate myself from. This takes clarity on my part. First, I’m not what some would term part of the “Hebrew Roots” movement. Second, I don’t affiliate myself with any ‘movement’ in this regard. I simply asked one day, “who are You, Yeshua?” (Jesus at the time as that was the name I was raised to call Him by). I still call Him Jesus, and Yeshua. I am not of those who think the pronunciation of His name is cataclysmic to one’s walk with Him. God sees the heart, He has known when I said Jesus, who I was referring to every time. There are those who argue, insanely in my humble opinion, that His name should be said and spelled in various forms in Hebrew to the point of division within the body. I am vehemently against this kind of division! There are 100’s of languages spoken on this planet today. In every language Yeshua/Jesus, the Son of the Living God, God of the Bible, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – the Father of Yeshua, has revealed Himself. God knows who is calling to Him and who is not. We are not to knock heads over semanitics. The only arguments I’ve entertained in a calm discussion format is the comparison that all gods in all religions are referring to God Almighty of the Bible, not true; and the subject of rigidity within the body of pronunciation of Yeshua in Hebrew. I simply refer to the Apostle Paul’s instruction for this not to be found in the body of Messiah (Christ).

Moving on…I believe in answer to my prayer, God began to show me what Yeshua grew up with, the language and culture. This took me back to why God called Abraham out and made the Hebrew nation in the first place. So in getting to know Yeshua more, just like He said, I would see the Father more! The Hebrew language made the Word make sense in ways that it never did, and made it more than it was before. Not the forbidden ‘adding to” but the deepening of its richness. Example: in the hebraic perspective what is “in front of us” is what we have known/know – our past and present – because we can see it. What is “behind us” is the future – what we can’t see and don’t know. Now let’s look at a scripture that often confused me growing up.

Luke 9:62

To him Yeshua said, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and keeps looking back is fit to serve in the Kingdom of God.”

Now to put this in context: three people talk to Yeshua about following Him, one declares he’ll follow Him wherever He goes and Yeshua responds about the foxes and birds that have places to lay their heads but He does not. The second asks to go home and bury his dad first, Yeshua responds to let the dead bury the dead but tells him to follow Him. The third says, I’ll follow You but let me say good bye to the people at home to which the verse above is Yeshua’s response.

His last response here was to all three of the people in the section of verses and all those listening to the conversations. There is no doubt theres alot to be taken from this section of scripture but I’m focused on the hebraic perspective above. I was always taught that “looking back” was the referring to the past. Taken from this perspective one can still gleen from scripture a good lesson. Not to let the past define your present and thus your future, not to get stuck in the past and so on and so forth. All good and worthy but not what Yeshua was saying! Yeshua spoke from the hebraic perspective, He is saying don’t get caught up trying to figure out everything; past, present or future, just follow Him! This perspective ties all three examples together and speaks a powerful instruction especially for those who would believe and follow Him when He returned to the Right Hand of the Father. Another example is the word peace, means completeness/wholeness in Hebrew, not absence of strife. It changes the way you understand what He means when He says this word! If you look in the books of Kings and Chronicles you will find this phrase in every reference to each leader/King…”so and so did what was evil/good from God’s perspective”  This is very important. Man is ever taking things and putting them in their own perspective and acting on that perspective. To Follow Yeshua, in other words, to do as He did, think as He thought and act as He acted on – one must submit to The Father’s perspective. It’s not how we think of things that matters it’s how God does. I don’t refrain from murder because I just think murder is wrong, I refrain from murder because God says it’s wrong. Let’s face it, many people refrain from murder because they just don’t like it or agree with it or even have the ability to see it as okay. Yet, there is a difference between them (driven by morality) and one who acts only on what God says is good and refrains to act on what God says is bad. It’s becoming a child of His Kingdom or just a nice child of this one. It’s like taking His mark, rather than being marked by this world. Every time my heart transforms into the image of His likeness it because it simply trusts God because He’s God. I don’t get the credit for being good in this case, God gets the credit for transforming me through trust/faith.

So this is how my mind has been transformed the most. It’s not that I wasn’t a Believer before I embarked on learning the Hebraic perspective, it just grew me up more in Him, enabled me to Follow Yeshua. This is how God has moved me. It’s not a prescription to follow, it’s not personal to anyone but me and Adonai. It may encourage one to look into the things I say because they, too, find their hearts being drawn closer to the God who made them, if so, PRAISE ADONAI! If not, it’s not “sign” that God is not doing the same for anyone else but differently. (Not differently that theres any other way except through Yeshua, I must qualify this!)

As a result, we celebate the Sabbath. Friday evening as the sun sets we light the candles, break bread, and drink the wine with their messianic hebrew blessings. Again from the hebraic perspective, one learns that God gave the instructions for these things for a very good reason. To act on something is to make it a part of you. God wants us to enter His rest, not our own. Yeshua never failed to do the Sabbath – not one time; and it was His joy! Let’s be honest, He could not afford not to enter His Father’s rest! Neither can I! There is something beautifully mysterious about acting on the ushering in and participation of the Sabbath. It’s not legalism, it’s worship and honor in my heart that motivates me. I don’t believe I’m better because I do it or I get special kudos from God. Except that which comes from being united with Yeshua and in turn with the Father as Yeshua says in John 17.

Perhaps you may want to know what this ushering in of the Sabbath looks like?

I will tell you what we do, having learned from various Messianic (meaning those who follow Yeshua as Messiah) resources.

We have two candle holders, a kaddish cup, and plate for the bread (a simple glass and plate will do). At just before sunset on Friday night we say the following blessings, I light the candles, say a silent prayer, we then say the blessings over the bread and wine, and say a prayer over each other (my husband, Sam and I). If our children were there we would say the blessings for children. They are grown and not living near us but we still count them in our prayers. Here are the blessings.

To usher in Sabbath, all present recite:

I then cover my head with a scarf as a symbol of my coming under God’s Authority. I light the candles, reaching with both hands out beyond the candles and pulling my hands forward to my face three times in honor and welcome of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to receive His light, resting my hands over my face in a silent prayer. Then together we recite this blessing:

We then recite the blessing over the bread, break and eat.

Then we recite blessing over wine, and drink.

(I apologize if the pictures are hard to read, but it’s alot to type, my prayer is printed out or zoomed in on,  its legible)

We then say our prayers with and over each other, at times Sam will just pray over us, we don’t allow our personal hearts to become formal, we want God to move in us. Reverence is never to be confused with religious formality.

We are still learning hebrew, so we follow the English transliterated and English. We are learning and have fun with it, again it’s not meant to be legalistic.

I pray this encourages you in your following of Yeshua. May He come soon with the shalom of eternity!

✡ Grace and peace to you in full measure in Yeshua the Messiah ✡

Plans and Promises

March 15, 2015 at 12:06 am (Mile Stones, WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Ever spent an entire day looking at “things”, or some-“thing” specific. Something you think might be part of your future, but so far it’s just “wait and see”. So you go, even enjoy the hunt, finding new things that weren’t there last time, opening your mind to possibilities that hasn’t occurred to you much before, and stretching obedience out along the tight skins of faith. It’s the toughest when one year turns into two and two to four and so on. When you have to ask God to repeat Himself, because His “go do this” and our thinking for His timing somehow with the ticking of time on our calenders make for big question marks that pop up on our faces like acne on a pubescent youth. Yet certain of His patient repeating, we go. Ahhh, leaps of trust!

Sam and I went on such a hunt again this time of year, just like the preceding four years before. It was a good day. We enjoyed ourselves and the travels to “go and have another look”. We truly enjoy each other and what we are looking at, both of us content to just put in some “leg work” towards a dream/goal/desire neither of us feels any surer about in solidarity but sure about the instructions. Or should I say the Instructor. If you asked either of us if we are “excited”, the answer would be – “yes, and no.” I think the word that would best describe it would be content. We are excited for “if and when” the Lord opens the door but content to wait and sure that either way we can find joy and peace with and without.

I wonder if Noah felt the same?
Build a boat, huh, never seen rain or a flood before. Closest thing to a boat I’ve seen is a canoe/raft for the river. But here I am following these instructions for a boat. Not just a big boat either, a huge boat! People think I’m nuts, heck sometimes I think I’m nuts. But here comes that Voice, telling me to trust giving only as much details as the next task. Pitch actually comes in handy for more than this boat too. In fact I’ve applied more than a few of the techniques for the boat to other things. The Voice knows what He’s about. Been thirty-five years. Still never have seen rain or a flood, the boat is not done, but tomorrow I’m going back out to do more building. Wonder how it’ll turn out? Wonder if the dang thing will sit in this field for twenty years before I see its purpose? Not my business to know I suppose. So far everything the Voice has said has been quite convincing and always works just like He says it will. Better than I imagined it in my head. Sometimes I think I’m doing this just to see the thing done with my own eyes. Who cares if I ever see the flood, this thing is going to be quite the sight to see.

Don’t your eyes bug out when you see how long it took for the “rain/flood” to come? Go back and look it up (Genesis 7:6). Makes you kinda think twice about waiting on God to complete His plan when He points you in a certain direction and a few years go by and you are tempted to scratch your head and think “well, I guess it’s not what He told us to do after all!” Look at the number of those years for Noah, and take heart. I do. The Israelites waited four hundred years for God to send the promised deliverer. Abraham waited beyond his years for God to send the seed that would make his seed like the stars in the sky! Some Jews are still waiting for the Messiah! For those of us who follow Yeshua (Jesus), two thousand plus years, we’ve been waiting for His return. Don’t know about you, but I’m not going to stop looking, waiting, believing, hoping, and trusting.

image

Time is nothing to God in the sense of limitations. He’s got nothing but time. And resources! Thats one of the things that trick us. Noah, I wonder if he had to purchase anything for that ark? Somehow I don’t think so. But if we are going to be doing this thing God said, we’ll have to have some moolah (that is money said in a word that defies the accounts). 🙂 Yet I know, Sam knows, it’s not a problem for God. Remember when Peter was instructed to go pull a coin out of a fishes mouth for their taxes? (Matthew 17:27) I figure God can provide pretty much anyway He sees fit, and the more shocking the better! (That’s human-speak for impossible) 😉
Why should I doubt Him? Why should we look for “normal” methods from a God who repeatedly has proven His ways are not our ways, and normal to Him is impossible to us!

image

So…we went today. Collected more brochures, saw more features, entertained different ideas, learned a little more than we knew before and obeyed the same God/Voice that spoke to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Noah, Elijiah, and on and on through the “Old” Testament into the “New” (quotes are added to emphasize the stretch of definition from old to new, the new has been around a while) 🙂 Saul (Paul) heard the same Voice, Timothy, Titus, and so on. Big instructions, with huge requirements, lots of impossibilities, and the sands in their “hour-glasses” always seemed to keep refilling! Patience isn’t a lesson for the young alone, but for life! All of it.

image

It was a beautiful day. I’m glad we obeyed. I’m glad He takes us on adventures and not just journeys. I’m most especially glad His ways are not mine, and His specialty is impossible and timing is perfect. We wait, because of Who we are waiting on, not the thought of what He said/says to do. That boat a.k.a. the Ark never would have got built had Noah waited on the flood to build it, or his own thinking to make sense of it.

image

Make plans, but count on God’s promises! Keep moving down the road He prompts you to go on. Don’t doubt in the darkness, what God has plainly shown you in the Light. One thing is absolutely sure, it never works out like you think it will, but it always leads us straight where we belong. In unity and harmony with a mind-blowingly awesome God. And down a path of adventure you would never have dreamed to see or go on. Don’t mistake a prompting to go from one step to another for the end result. The Promise is that we shall be loved and provided for, the plan…is to bring us Home!

God Said it First

October 18, 2014 at 1:08 am (Remodeling the Mind, Thoughts to Ponder) (, , , , , , , , , , )

If it is Truth, pure, right, worthy, or wise. ..God said it first. When I read other authors, listen to other speakers/teachers. ..I listen for the sign that they belong to God. The words they speak; though arranged differently, some more expanded, some more simple; have a ‘ring’ to them. They are repeats for what Adonai (the Lord God), Yeshua (Jesus), or the Spirit has spoken from the dawn of time. The Word of the Living God.
Those who wrote what is now called The Bible were taught, inspired, or directly told what to say by God, Himself. Paul said he was taught by Yeshua Himself. The apostles witnessed themselves the speaking, teaching and living of Yeshua. .. their ‘books’ come as a result of that and their own living, walking relationship with Yeshua.

The following are quotes by various people; some still alive, some now part of the cloud of witnesses. Below the quote is the Living Word… where it was said first… or at least where it can be traced back to where its been said by God before any human. Solomon is famous for ‘his’ wisdom but we know he asked for wisdom from God. Hence where his wisdom comes. Ours too. .. and those who have come and gone and yet will be. If they will have wisdom. .. it too will come only from God. He has the copy write. .. but the thing is. .. He is happy to share and let us put His truth and wisdom into words that present day audiences will be able to understand. He gets the glory. .. There is no doubt in His mind. 🙂

John 14:26

Dietary Truth

June 17, 2014 at 12:25 am (WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , , , )

image

When we begin to shop in the Kingdom of Heaven for our food.
The truth sits on the shelf…the only thing you can do to get it is trade. There’s no amount of money by which it can be brought into a persons possession. The trade? Your lie for The Truth. Many people drop a lie, and grab truth. As soon as it dawns on them that the truth is uncomfortable until it’s consumed and allowed to work itself into every thought and action; go back and re trade for the lie. What most don’t understand is that once they have eaten that truth and went back on their trade…the Truth then mixed back in with their lies creates cancer…often for the body…always for the soul. Once we have been given the truth we are responsible to live it. This is why noone will stand before The Truth and be able to say – “I didn’t know.” – because The Truth will be faithful to make sure if we do…we will be liars.

The Truth is a person…not a concept. The Truth created everything, everywhere, in all times. The Truth never creates nor created anything to operate correctly without Him. Anything mixed up with the absence of Him…is a lie. This is absolute, final and The Truth cannot make an exception. We don’t like finality, big walls that are unbreakable. So we invent mechanisms to climb over walls and delude ourselves with lies that camouflage grace with a mind that wraps itself around the thought of “I can wait to apply truth”. Thus the mind cancers and leporizes and we become blind, dull and senseless all the while believing we are evolving; becoming wiser, smarter, better. Every lie, without exception is the Truth rejected.

The Truth is food for the essence of what makes one a living being. It must become the main ingredient in our daily diet. To know Him, and take His every instruction and act immediately upon the foreign introduction to our lie based diet is to consume and be changed forever. To be set free…always means freedom from deception. The only thing that binds and imprisons is lies. We often are deceived into believing we have freedom of movement just because the chains are long…but in truth…each link is still a lie and the length of chain may be long but gives the illusion of freedom because one can still go far on lies. When we begin the let The Truth break each link…the discomfort is that the freedom we perceived is starting to reveal itself as bondage and the shorter the chain the tighter it feels. But the Truth will meet the anchor of the chain and break us free completely…one link at a time. Feelings lie. Don’t live in service to them. If we choose the Truth, and let our feelings go; calling them up to wait for the proof of their deception…we learn what true perseverance is.

The Truth would have us be free…not feeling free. The Truth isn’t rigid and unfeeling…it’s sure, steadfast, patient and long suffering. He is precise. Completely trust worthy. He knows the hour of completion and doesn’t sway by temporary delusion. He fights for freedom complete…not temporary alleviation. Consume Him and we are free…taste and discard and we will be eaten away by the deadliest cancer…lies – consumed then by symptom treating and temporary alleviation. Believing all the while that the medicine of our own making is irradiating the source while creating more havoc than the origin of the disease. Being deluded is asymptomatic to consuming a lie. It’s effects breed it’s own kind. More lies. Just as consuming The Truth breeds it’s own kind, inch by inch, day by day more freedom. It works it’s way into the “blood stream” and immediately submits to the Master who created it. It cleanses, purifies, corrects, immunitizes, defends, and produces optimum life as it was designed from the beginning. Without Him…All life giving systems begin to break down and disease. For some quickly…and some at a monotonous pace. Only The Truth knows why. It’s never given to the created to know, so that no replacement can be invented. The Truth keeps Himself true. And offers Himself to us as a means by which we keep in union with being kept true. It’s as absolute that we can and never will find truth without Him as the Sun will never cease to shine. It shines on…even on cloudy days. It’s not required to see and feel it’s warmth to know it’s there. It’s just convenient to our human comfort based devotion, not more convincing.

The Kingdom of heavens diet is not a temporary diet to offset the weight gain of worldly living. It will not play along with the illusion of temporary change. It cannot be gained without a lifelong commitment to change the diet from lies to Truth. Often comfort food to only that which holds up under the Truth. We will struggle while He transforms our taste buds and brings satisfaction more to the body than our mouths. Where function trumps sensation. Hold true to Him and He will prove His superiority and absolutely convince us…that He truly did knit us together in our mothers wombs. .. and He began with Truth… and the design was, is, and always will be freedom.

True Life is found by the Way of Truth. True Living is done by following Him. Discarding the illusion of daily transaction on any level that excludes Him at every moment, in every situation, for any length of time. It’s a total consumption of a Creator that made His creation so they couldn’t live without Him. What grace! What Love! What genius! Now that is God! See His Son – eat, drink and be free!

Hebrews 2:1; 8-9

Therefore, we must pay much more careful heed to the things we have heard, so that we will not drift away.

In subjecting everything to Him, He left nothing unsubjected to Him. However, at present, we don’t see everything subjected to Him – at least not yet. But we do see Yeshua (Jesus) – who indeed was made for a little lower than angels – now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by God’s grace He might taste death for all humanity

John 5:26

For just as the Father has Life in Himself, so He had given the Son life to have in Himself.

John 6:35

I am the Bread which is Life! Whoever comes to Me will never go hungry and whoever trusts in Me will never be thirsty.

John 6:53-55

Then Yeshua said to them, “Yes, indeed, I tell you that unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man (Truth) and drink His blood (forgiveness), you do not have life in yourselves. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal Life – that is I will raise him up on the Last Day. For My flesh is true food and My blood is true drink. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My Blood lives in Me, and I in him.

John 8:31-32

So Yeshua said to the J
Judeans who had trusted Him, “If you obey what I say, then you are really My talmidim (followers), you will know the Truth and the Truth will set you free. “

John 14:6

Yeshua said, “I Am the Way – the Truth and the Life; noone comes to the Father except through Me.

John 14:15-17

If you love Me, you will keep My commands; and I will ask the Father and He will give you another Comforting Counselor like Me, the Spirit of Truth, to be with you forever. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees nor knows Him. You know Him, because He is staying with you and will be united with you.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

May the God of shalom (peace) make you completely holy – may your entire spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless for the coming off or Lord Yeshua the Messiah. The One calling you is faithful, and He will do it.

Psalms 119:25-32. ~ D. ~ Dalet

Psalms 119:25-32
I lie prostrate in the dust;
Revive me, in keeping with Your Word.
I told You of my ways, and You answered me; teach me Your laws
Make me understand the way of Your precepts, and I will meditate on Your wonders.
I am melting away from anxiety and grief; renew my strength, in keeping with Your Word.

Keep deceitful ways far from me, and favor me with Your Torah (the Law).
I choose the way of trust; I set Your rulings before me.
I cling to Your instruction; Adonai, don’t let me be put to shame!
I will run the way of Your mitzvot (commands/instruction), for You have broadened my understanding.

Interesting to note that the first 4 verses are “directionally” man to God. Starting with the mentioning of dust (earth). Also that the various ways of saying instructions or Torah is said 4 times in the first 4 verses.
In the second 4 verses, it changes “directionally” God to man. He alone keeps us from deceit, favors us, gives us the will to choose, keeps us from shame, sets His rulings before us, broadens our understanding. Also the various ways of saying Torah/commands/Law; are mentioned 4 times in the second half of this section.

I have bolded the words that all connect to what you learn in the following links for the Letter and Number. Enjoy!
