Inside My Broken Shore

May 8, 2014 at 2:52 am (Mile Stones, Poems, Remodeling the Mind, Songs) (, , , , , )

I think I finally know what You are saying when You say “poor”
No bank can hold this poor girls riches
And the cupboards fall to the floor
With Your Spirit living inside there’s always room for more

I think I finally know what You are saying; the truth behind the “food”
In a soul starved world which abounds in riches
The stomach lays there nude
To do the will of the Father is substance more profoundly real
Than the healthiest of consumption
Real food is not concealed

I think I know what You are saying; the wealth of “thirst” for You
For waters roar abound and rapid
But the quench of thirst rest on Your eternal touch
It seems so small but saves so much

I look around and find myself aloft with every creature
Trying to fill an eternal stomach with what these eyes can see
But gently and softly You turn my gaze within and to Your Son
He takes my hand and pulls me near and all my wealth is done

Empty, Uncertain
Your waters break my shore
On the run to find pigs
They’re welcome here no more
Full but still filling
My eyes overflow
My spirit is “pooring”
But Yours is more than sure
The Kingdom is giving
Beyond the break of day
You open my eyes to the offer
That will never go away
Because I’m poor
You are surely feeding
And the Kingdom is filled and flowing
Inside my broken shore
