Psalms 39:4-5; 90:11-12; 31:14-15
Make me grasp, Adonai, what my end must be, what it means that my days are numbered; let me know what a transient creature I am. You have made my days like handsbreaths; for You the length of my life is like nothing.
Who grasps the power of Your anger and wrath to the degree that the fear due You should inspire? So teach us to count our days so that we will become wise.
But I, trust in You, Adonai; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in Your Hand; rescue me from my enemies power, from those who persecute me.
Lazybones! How long will you lie there in bed? When will you get up from your sleep? “I’ll just lie here a bit, rest a little longer, just fold my hands for a little more sleep” – and poverty comes matching in on you, scarcity hits you like an invading soldier. (Thief during war).
So we’re back to; what could be causing a state of sleepiness in us. Time is a funny thing, the more we get, the less we value it. I know for myself, time alone isn’t the only thing that seems to dim with abundance. Yet lets take a good look at what caused the people to miss the coming Messiah the first time. First among these would apply to their state of mind right at the time He had entered their midst. Time can weaken resolve, commitment, passion and alertness. We know this in its very basic nature, when we are up for 18-20 hours of a day, the time seems to weaken us as it ticks by. We get tired. I’m pretty sure it’s not needed to explain how impatience grows thick, like a blanket with warmth to compell the eyes to shut. The people of that day were asleep in waiting, Time wasn’t doing its job to their liking.
This drowsiness made them susceptible to deception and hence they forgot where they were to look for Him. Coupled with this deception came delusion that suggested that time was now something they had possession of to do with as they pleased. It’s almost as if, when time stretches out across our hopes, we ‘pay it back’ by giving up. Strange, huh? It’s the ‘cutting off ones nose to kill a flea’. This generation and those since the Messiah’s cloud ride back to Heaven fits right in with those that waited thousands of years for His first promised appearing. God’s not fast enough for us most of the time. That is, until He acts, and then we’re begging to catch up! His first coming fulfilled four of the seven practice rehearsal appointments (Feast) that we have been commanded to keep, in quick order. One day there were seven, ninety days later there were three! God got alot done in short order! They were reeling. At least those who woke up enough to know who Yeshua was before He went back, leaving us with the promise of His return.
It begs more questions:
Is time given to us to spend as we please? (Yeshua’s parable of the investments) Can impatience really make one completely clueless to what’s really going on around us?
Let’s be fair. The Tanakh did not have all these words strung together all in one sequence for them to see.
I will send you, Yeshua Ben Yoseph, Ben Yahweh, and you will want to reject Him, but don’t! He will heal the sick, raise the dead, and be given power to forgive sins before He will willing go to the Cross as the sacrifice Lamb for the whole world, you will kill Him, and I shall raise Him back up in three days time. He will then be found again among you, and give you My last Words before He comes back to My Right Hand in victory to prepare all things for the time I will send Him back to the Wedding for which you are being prepared for and those who will come after you. To vindicate My chosen Ones and end the Tyranny of the Evil ones!”
Nope, this string of words won’t be found all in one book or passage. Yet, they are all there. Spread out like a bridge of Love from Heaven to earth. It took all the Time that made up the Tanakh to get them down just so.
We tend to forget that God’s enemy is watching too. God is smarter, but He’s not Thor the egotistical god that needs to prove He’s God and better than the deciever. Crafty is this enemy, yes, no doubt. So God will out-craft him! And indeed! The deceiver was surprised at His coming the first Time. Sadly he (the enemy) worked hard to make sure no one would wake up in time to see Him. For way too many, Yeshua’s attempt to rouse them was as rejected as He was. So did this surprise God? Nope. Time is God and God is Time. All He is, was and ever shall be, do, say, think, is Him! I Am that I Am! In other words, if He isn’t, then there isn’t anything! His plans and ways are perfect, unlike any kind of perfect we can conceive. Though when you know Him, you begin to see, as through a mirror dimly, but still it’s enough for make us trust Him if we seek Him, without ceasing. His second coming will follow the same pattern as the first. He will be on Time and His enemy will be shocked again, with no pigs left to escape into.
There were important details in the Tanakh to get done prior to His Hand of action coming in swiftly as it did then. Sadly, too many are not taught that the beginning contains the end and the end the beginning. There are signs people grossly miss by not seeing the Bible as a Complete Book. There are over 500 “old testament” references in Revelation alone! This is why people lose heart waiting, the deceiver has put to sleep a vital part of seeing God work exactly as He promised, and His Timing is as precise as the entire Word of God reveals! Yet again, there are vital things that have been at work by God all this Time. As we walk with Him faithfully, we stop being self absorbed about our time and stay true to Time, Himself! The only one being left out on the plan and timing is the enemy! God is busy protecting us! Making sure all that can be awakened will be, making sure the Bride is worthy of Him, making sure all have had a chance to go to the dress rehearsals that remain to be prepared for the Wedding. This is all that is left to do. Oh, sure there is the reckoning to the enemy and his hordes, to those who persecuted and will persecute the Bride. But! We are the apple of His eye! As He is to be ours! Nothing is delayed, nothing is being left out. His victory is sure and our delight in Him is not unfounded! We must not allow ourselves to fall asleep. This action He has placed in our choosing.
1 Corinthians 3:18
Let no one fool himself.
Awake! Awake! Zion! Clothe yourself with your strength! (Our strength is His Voice!) Daniel 10:17-19 – For how can this servant of my Lord speak with my lord, when my strength and breath have failed me? Then, again, someone who looked human touched me and revived me. He said, “You man so greatly loved, don’t be afraid. Shalom (peace) to you; and be strong, yes, truly strong.” His speaking to me strengthened me, and I said, “My Lord keep speaking; because you’ve given me strength.”
…Get up, sleeper! Arise from the dead, and the Messiah will shine on you!
It’s our choice to fall asleep, and our choice to wake up. We only feel trapped by weariness when we have fallen behind and not kept up to hear our Shepherds Voice which keeps the deception from having access to our ability to see.
Let me clarify here. There is s difference between a righteous fatigue and a willful “nap”.The former does not steal our ability to remain steadfast. The latter does, and can cause such delusion so as to make one think they are awake when they are not. This is why we need the body to reflect to the eyes that they are closed. Put into the simplist literal terms. When we are not at attention, we bump into things and it hurts, the part of the body that took the blow, sends the cry to the eyes to…Pay Attention! Wake up! Unnecessary pain, does that. Unwarranted pain is different (persecution).
Exhortation in the Body of Messiah must renew it’s STRENGTH in Him! Full of love, but without hesitation to give a good tap to wake those who are falling asleep. We are all, each one of us, the little second and minute marks of God’s Timepiece where He has us. We must not be put to sleep because we want to be 15 seconds earlier or 25 seconds faster when it’s the Last Hour! Every second is full of such meaning! Full of so much of Him! Let’s not miss it!
The concept of God being Time itself may seem a bit odd. In part 3, we’ll dig deeper into this. Until then, search for Him yourself…you’ll find Time to be very different as you do.

The following link (at the bottom) inspired this blog. Actually it and many other documentaries I’ve been watching for a while now. Honestly I was unsure what was driving me to watch these real life stories. Some were very inspiring and dealt more with acts of nature and the hardships people over-came to move on, most were, sadly, the moving forward after another human being caused harm and suffering to them and those they loved. These are called crimes. It took some time but Adonai has finally began to speak into His pulling me into this documentary marathon I seemed to have been running.
The documentary below is graphic in many ways, more in depth than most and longer. If you choose to watch it, please be aware of children who may happen upon you as you do. This film is the best film to put all the points I’m about to make into perspective. It’s raw nature has a stunning balance that is rare in documentaries and, of course, as I’m drawn to…God gets an amazing glory in the end. All the points here are capable of standing on their own without viewing it however.
I realize these question have been asked before; in multitudes of ways. The concept isn’t new, the answers…well no less complex…sort of. Perhaps sometimes God puts us in front of these questions in more intimate settings and has us write out the process to solidify it for our own walk in this life. I lean in this direction. Though He often asks us to share for the purpose of someone else, yes, even just one other person, His work in you will be used in His work in them. I pray these writings only do what He intended.
What would a society be like if:
☆ The “old sexual code” of proper conduct was the norm and the only accepted method – legally, morally, ethically?
Definition: No sex before marriage. Sex is viewed as sacred and private between adult men and women (plural in context not in number of persons at one event). Sex is only sacred between those two individuals of commitment before God and man on their wedding day. Sex with a child, animal, same sex person, or family member is a CRIME, punishable by death. Why? Simply put, sex ANY other way kills something extremely valuable to God.
☆ God’s rules of justice was adopted by society
Definition: Don’t murder, don’t lie, don’t covet, don’t take lightly His Name – meaning His character, don’t dishonor parents, don’t commit adultery – unfaithfulness in marriage – this being considered a value BEFORE marriage; that faithfulness to one’s spouse begins the day they are born for the one God has set aside for them. Thus rendering experimental, recreational, better put, premarital Sex – WRONG.
God is indeed God, no other God will be tolerated, not because of rules but because any other thing given His place will lead to the utter heartbreaking corruption of the person God created. All other instructions will be broken without fail if these two are not the focus – the beginning and end of all moral judgement.
Remember to give God one day. (Remember the Sabbath) Just to Him – rest for that day; the needs and cares of the whole world will be cared for by Him and only Him on this day. How can He prove it if we’re constantly in control? This builds our trust and proves further…God is in control. And for good reason!
☆ Questions and ponderings
Who was the first to introduce the death penalty?
How does Yeshua (Jesus) without nullifing God’s previous dictates fulfill them all with justice?
What is the true sign of repentance?
God knew that child abuses and societal influence of all kinds would be a factor in any crime committed in all those instructions from Genesis to Leviticus for balance and justice. What does this say about His methods of instruction?
Trust and obey – God is the only One worthy of such from anyone. Only He knows the balance point between good and evil, right and wrong, lies and deceit and ignorance and naivety, innocence and willfulness, cause and effect.
Did God make/create murders, rapest, adulterers, cheats, etc?
Haven’t we all murdered in our thoughts? (This is where all physical acts begin) He created me and you. We have all lied, cheated, adulterated. In our thoughts, when we lie, we steal from someone. Everyone is owed the truth as a standard of conduct in the Kingdom of God. And rape? Again starting in the thoughts, none sees and most will never show they existed. Rape is non-consentual sex. Has everyone consented to all our imaginings? Sound extreme or over-the-top? Again the questions are pointed at the possibilities of society if such things were viewed this way and acted on accordingly. Would porn have ever been born? Would any inappropriate sexual act or deed be subject to leniency or acceptibility which has indeed led to the corruption of society?
☆ Questions everyone should find the answers to. (Yes, the word “should” got used…without apology)
What is the difference between God’s true ways and the many ways the church has distorted them? Ie: exorcism, branding, legalism, judgement.
Why did Yeshua accept death on the cross? Keeping in mind, yes, He was innocent, but on that cross He took every sin ever committed and that would ever be committed on Himself!
How do all these things, these questions, these answers impact a life? Yours, mine, the neighbor, the community, society?
☆ Truths Indisputable
God alone makes, creates, shapes. Man gets ahold of these and as soon as they try to change it, even ever so slightly, these things become dysfunctional. In other words, they can no longer be cherished and enjoyed as He designed them.
God made: man, woman, earth, space, marriage, Sex, relationships/family, balance, Justice, life, death, forgiveness, mercy, truth, grace, compassion, kindness, patience, long suffering, giving/generosity, hope, peace, love.
When anything He made gets altered they become the twisted polar opposite, they act against instead of for.
Only God can be troubled or sort out the details of something so complex as a human being, created in His image, so hated by His enemy. A human justice system? How can one expect perfection within it? There are more things we need not know than we need to know. So many things we need to simply be able to trust and obey, for there is no other way! Too many opinions, to many postings and publications of things we need not concern ourselves with. I wonder how much medication people would stop needing for anxiety if they just didn’t hear, see, and know so darned much these days. I know the jurors of the case below will never ever be able to remove the images and details of that case from their minds. It could be argued that it may be for good reasons, it could also be argued against all good reasoning! That is: if humans keep thinking of those things. God isn’t Teviah from Fiddler on the Roof, He’s not up there saying… “On the other hand…but on the other hand…” He is capable, and by that it means, completely perfect and split-second fast, at knowing every second, every instant, every occasion, every event, of everyone involved in everything, taking all things into consideration and doing the right thing. Period. Only God. So what? if we just can’t let go of controlling things trying to “understand” everything…what if…what if we just did it God’s Way?
We can. I can, I will by the grace given by Yeshua, the Holy Spirit. It begins with just one day, all those little choices, God’s Way, not mine. Society as we read in the Truth called the Word of God will not operate according to Gods ways, not right now. But…our homes can. These will effect other homes…which will effect our community…which may effect revival in some small section of society. BUT! The impact on our true Home, with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, where they have come to make their home in you and me…eternity ripples, souls praise, heaven is singing that tune as we speak (errr…or read 😉). As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!
Grace and peace be with you in Yeshua the Messiah
What is the essence of Praise?
Is it just knowing God is? How often does it come easy when He paints a wondrous sky? When He does anything to make us smile? How does one apply the sacrifice of praise? This question lays heavy on my heart theses days. Almost every believer I know (almost) doesn’t seem to grasp the concept of sacrificial praise. When asked in a poll, nine out of ten believers could not quote a scripture that speaks of sacrificial praise. May seem rather inconsequential unless you realize how often its referenced in the Word. 218 times the word sacrifice is in the Word, half of them include praise with them. In the half that doesn’t refer to praise directly with it, it gives strong indications of it being in conjuction to or related to, or a result of. ..pretty incredible.
To sacrifice means to give something up. To praise means to lift something or someone up in exaltation. Put together, as the Word repeatedly states it, we sacrifice the opposite of praise for praise of God . After all it would hardly be a sacrifice to praise God when I’m happy. It would seem these days that we have this assumption that we are entitled to our feelings. So praise can come after I’ve had my pout, rant, disappointment, hurt, anger – especially if it comes on the heals of injustice. Yet as I enter into the presence of God, and He teaches me, He clearly says to sacrifice my feelings and with all my heart, mind, and soul praise Him, especially when I can hardly dredge up a thin whisp of His praise-worthiness, this is true sacrifice. It requires faith. Faith in the God who is working at all times to and for the good of those that love Him. This is a foundational truth that must be lived. How better to live it than to practice it? Or do it. Something can’t live, as dead words on a page, it must become active to live. Dying to oneself will always come with the sacrifice of one’s feelings. Not the ignorance of them, or denial, but the will turning towards the Father and actively willing itself into the Kingdom of Praise. It’s the arm wrestle of me and my view verses God and His. Every promise He has made can be used to contradict a complaint from human lips. Yes, every single one. Noone keeps their promises like God, not one.
Someone once said, “I really can’t see one thing today that is worth praising“. For those in throws of this temptation let me share a perspective. Everyday, in order for the day to be called a day, the sun must have risen(God be praised), in order for one to be able to call a day a day, one must have been given breath to enter into it(God be praised). One may argue, “what if I wish God had taken me Home instead?” Simply put, then your will has not entered into His, for if you were willed to go Home to be with Him, your breaths would have ceased and there you would be. So. ..sacrifice your will to the sovereign God you say you believe in and thank Him for the day He has made, ask Him to change your heart and open your eyes to the gift of the day you are in and thank Him for your purpose in His will to be here, now.
What does it cost you to call yourself a follower of Christ? Have you been stoned (with real rocks, not weed) for your belief in Him? Do you know the sacrifice of not doing the thing you think you can’t live without, just because He said “Live without it.” Do we truly know that when He says that He is prophecying? Literally, if you give it up, you will really and truly live, actively putting His Word to action, faith being a real live thing working inside you. This is Life, the Life Yeshua (Jesus) came to give. The Life He lived, and now we can by the power of His Spirit live too. I can honestly say I never succeed at such sacrifice, until I’ve admitted my defeat in ability and asked for the Spirit to give me praise instead. I can’t drudge praise up on my own. So, you see the denial of the feelings that cause complaint, pout, rage, bitterness, doubt, comparison, etc – may indeed be acknowledged but not lived instead they must be sacrificed, exchanged for what we don’t possess. The only reason we reason to our advantage to keep our feelings and “work through them”, is simply because we don’t want to let them go. Not one person has ever worked through their feelings leading to life, faith in God. Read Hebrews 11. There is no mention of one hint of one person of Faith who “worked through their feelings But had faith. Not one. Every single one, sacrificed their feelings and turned towards God to obtain faith. Often our feelings are cronic lairs. Why? Because they are hitched to our comfort, our perspective, our desires, our failures, the fallen nature of this world. But, what about delight, joy, love, compassion. ..aren’t theses feelings, you ask? Depends. Depends on Who gives them to you. Do you delight at the sunset? Any question as to Who gets the credit for it? And love? This is constantly being defined by feelings, it’s not a feeling, Love is and always will be a choice. Love is sacrifice, if you don’t sacrifice for the one you say you love, you don’t love them. To sacrifice in love, one must give up something of themselves for the other. It must cost something. Another long subject for another blog, but love is not a feeling, it’s a result of feelings being yielded to Love Himself. What does the Word say about joy? I won’t answer this for you, look it up, study it, it’s not a feeling we come by as good little human beings in and of ourselves. All things good – every single good thing ever only and ever will come from God. If you experience it, thank Him for it, cause we don’t get joy without Him or compassion, or delight. One may argue; “but non-believers delight in sunsets“. So? This is evidence of the contrary of what is true about sunsets? Whether one believes or not, God made sunsets, and if one delights at one, they delight in Him, whether they acknowledge it or not. The Author of the sunset does not change, and why wouldn’t He give delight to anyone for admiring His work? That is the amazing thing about God, He doesn’t wait to be who He is, do what He does, on us to believe Him or acknowledge Him. Never has, never will. He came while we were yet sinners, remember? Yes, indeed, even the sinners are given delight in the things that come from God alone.
But, praise, sacrificial praise, this is only given to them that believe and acknowledge Him. Those without Him are quite incapable of faith. But lest, we who follow and live for God be proud, we, too are incapable without Him. The difference is, we who have let Him take over our lives, have been given the power of the Spirit of God to do the things of God. So we see, it all comes from Him, not us. This why, I believe, that nine out of every ten of those believers in that poll, had no clue about sacrificial praise. It’s the stumbling stone we trip over, living a life we get credit for vs. living a life He gets credit for. Indeed it’s a contradiction to even say, I can live my own life. My life is dead if lived for me. Only Life and God go hand in hand. Without Him, death is the only result of anything.
I belabor, but I do so at the lead of the God of Life. Read up about sacrificial praise in His Word, ask Him to expand upon it into your limbs. You’ll find, much of the walk with Him will have this sacrificial praise as it’s hallmark. It takes faith to praise God when bills are due and money is no where to pay, it takes faith to believe He is working in such detail while the over due notices are stamped out. It takes faith to praise God for accidents and floods. It takes faith to praise God for hiccups and delays. Faith is trust in action. A moving, living trust that moves our lips towards praise and our hearts, minds and bodies in line with them. Every single person on the planet has trust issues. Don’t claim that as special or unique to you. Hint, God never said to trust anyone but Him. Most the time we have trust issues, it’s because we trusted the people He made, or ourselves instead of Him in the first place. Trust issues are cured only by trusting only in God. Faith can only come from a living active trust in God. Sacrificial praise is the epitome of faith!
Trusting is being confident of what we hope for, convinced about things we do not see.
Through Him, therefore, let us offer God a sacrifice of praise continually. For this is the natural product of lips that acknowledge His Name.
Offer thanksgiving as your sacrifice to God, pay your vows to the Most High, and call to Me when you are in trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me.

I’m currently in Las Vegas, the city that never sleeps. I believe New York “coined the term”, I’ve no idea, I’ve never been there. We are here for a business trip planned months ago. It feels like a yank on my chain when I “should be home packing to move”, but alas God said go, and I obeyed. At the time I had no idea why, I assumed it was to provide a slight time of rest in a schedule that makes the most hearty tired. I wasn’t completely wrong, but I’m starting to understand a bit more now. This city really never does sleep! The hotel mall shops don’t close till after midnight, some till after 2am. At all times the casino has desperate gamblers, hoping – praying that one more round will be the big payoff. Dreams hinge on the pull of a handle, turn of a card, or slow dropping off a little white ball into a black or red spot on a wheel. You can sense the tension that the illusion of money gives, it pours out of their sweat. Then there’s the never ending flow of booze. So they can be happy to give their money and time away. Rings under blind eyes, that plead for rest. Inner rest, physical rest, spiritual home coming.
I must confess, I’ve always hated sleep. I felt life would get much more accomplished if it wasn’t required. I was born a night owl. I have often said God put me on the wrong side of the planet as I am best between the hours of 8pm-4am. I used to feel awful shame, like something was incredibly wrong with me because I couldn’t train myself to be a day bird instead of a night owl. God worked tirelessly to heal such thinking in me (no pun intended). I was born in a big city, used to things that had “open 24 hours” signs. Then we moved to Kalispell, MT. Oh how I resented the total shut down at 6pm. These people take their rest seriously! Just like Vegas takes its constant alertness seriously. Money can’t be made if people sleep. Rest provides sanity. It is a command to take one whole day to rest. God set the example at the beginning, and every time the order of rest is defied, bad things happen. Good things are missed, forgotten and eventually considered irrelevant.
So I sit out at the entry to this magnificent hotel at 11pm, reading Wayne Stiles book Waiting on God. A strange Vegas combination, I’ll say. I’m learning why He brought me here, besides the reasons we signed up to come. To watch with new eyes what I’m like at all times inside. Wanting (even pure and good things) so badly for things to line up perfect so I can “rest”. My idea of perfect and God’s has always been a contrast between light and dark. One must wait on the line of definition to see the difference. That is the line we avoid, we don’t wait well. And if forced to, our spirits of restlessness and complaint, often blind the thin line of light dawning in the darkness.
The sad illusion of this opulent place is that no rest – lack of sleep, prospers. Everywhere you look you see extravagant money. City of lights, for which its also called, drowns out the dawning of the sun. There are black out shades here such like you find in Alaska due to the lack of actual night in the sky. It’s a night owls dream. But I’m finding this night owl understanding the difference between function and frantic fretting. I don’t like it here. I want the rest God provides in quiet, solitude, everything shut down. Here, everywhere one goes there loud music, clanging and ringing machines, cell phones going off, cars coming and going with people happy to come and sad to go. Hung over on another sleepless search for – anything. Horns honking for attention or out of irritation. Bell hops whistling to serve the patron who likely just spent their mortgage payment so they could get paid to work. Restaurants serve delicious meals for outrageous prices. The illusion of getting full on food that keeps you hungry. All with a free drink, not soda, tea or water, but coffee or alcohol, they gladly pay to keep you restless and dumbed down in desperation. Everywhere you look one sees “the life that could be” if only, if only money rolled down like a red carpet to grace the fancy shoe that doesn’t fit.
At first, the sadness of it all overwhelmed me. (A good thing – part of the process) Then, the gratitude for the ability to see how unsatisfying all this is compared to the sweet, soft, quiet presence of the God of the universe truly is. Now, as I wait on Him, to show me all this trip is meant to produce within my character, I’m leaning, leaning into His instruction, and even His silence (which often instructs more loudly).
The rest He so insistently encourages us to take is the definition of true prosperity. Wealth beyond opulence and decor. Hope beyond a dollar bill. Draining dreams that can’t give rest of all that appeals – entices. Sobering, hungry and full of strength to wait on Him. Him who owns everything, makes everything, chooses everything and gives more than we know to ask for. Haunting the heart for the realness – true reality of Life, Yeshua – Jesus. I say haunt because we are so very unsure exactly what it is we desire most the time. But it’s always Him, no matter what we think it is, it’s always Him. Our hearts, mind, souls were created to desperately want Him! What a gift! And how cursed we can live trying to grasp anything else.
Rest, inner and physical, is priceless. No one has ever painted an accurate picture of rest. Only God. He paints in active motion, real life, within moments that will never come that way again. Example? That place where you see a sunset or sunrise that takes your breath away. Or that moment of complete calm reflecting off of a lake, the surrounding creation reflecting the heart of its Maker, always at peace, sure, true – no trace of uncertainty. We blink and these moments are seemingly gone. At least to our physical eyes. But to our souls, when they line up with Him, they last a lifetime. Carry us into and out of chaos. They remind us why the Word speaks of all these times. ..to cry, laugh, die, live, love, hate, wake, sleep, war, peace, lie down, get up. ..you remember the one. All things are found in Him and Him in all things, without Him they are events to dread or wish never ended – always stuck in a state of slavehood. Chained to the moments themselves instead of the Timeless One.
The hour of my rest now calls, but the One of Rest has and will continue to be with me here. I require a compete shut down (where His work continues profoundly), but He will never sleep, His is the city that never sleeps. This city is dead asleep even though they seem to be awake around the clock. I’m counting on that contrast to build something of His architecture within the halls of my heart tonight. Even as. ..I sleep. Tonight I’m grateful to go to sleep, rest in His arms, let Him move in ways that my wakefulness resist. I’m reminded, I depend on Him, awake or sleeping for all things – and He will not fall asleep on the job.
Thank You Father, for rest. Rest of soul, heart and mind. Your rest. What a jackpot I’ve found this night. May it prosper me all the days and nights of my life!

Too often our spirits lean back, away from a scripture, for us to gain an accurate understanding. Mostly, when our pride is involved. Man’s pride can not be tested much higher than when we is in conflict. The scripture above has been notoriously misinterpreted and therefore taught wrong.
Lean in and note the key phrase that has often been reversed.
You remember there your brother has something against you.
Most of us read it…
You remember there you have something against your brother.
There is a huge difference between these statements!
Since the Temple is now within each of our hearts, and our gifts are often things such as our pride, anger, resentment, jealousy, rage, hurt, self-pity, self-absorbtion and so on. This reinforces what Yeshua (Jesus) said about the difference between cleaning the inside of a cup instead of worrying about the outside. (Matt. 23:26)
So…when we are in prayer, offering the Lord, all the things that don’t bring Him glory, and there remember that our brother or sister is angry with us, we are to leave off our offering and keep it at His feet, while we go seek out the person we know is angry with us and offer the olive branch of peace.
Why, I have often wondered, does this scripture so often get turned around? Well, for one it is far easier to retain some pride by going to someone we are angry with and confront them. But…it smacks pride right in the face to seek out someone we know is angry with us! Can your hear the refrain so often used by human wisdom?
I shouldn’t have to approach someone if they are angry with me, they should come to me. After all, they are the ones with the problem. Why should I go and say, “hey, I know your mad at me, let’s make peace.” I mean isn’t it their responsibility to come to me?
I know I’ve said something along those lines. This scripture seems to be backwards, counterintuitive, nonsense. Kinda like, offer the other side of your face if someone smacks you. Truth: Almost everything Yeshua taught goes against our thinking. Just read the gospels again and lean in, you’ll see it everywhere! To us this scripture must have been interpreted wrong, so we reword it to suite our wisdom. Otherwise it seems that we should expect a dentist to come find us when our tooth is infected!
Trust me, the Great Physician does indeed seek each one out, often before they even know they are sick, to offer a cure. Did not God send His Son before anyone knew they needed Him? Did He not, knowing we had issues with Him, seek us out to rectify the problem. We certainly did not seek Him first, with our offense. Left up to us, God would still be waiting for us to come to Him, and say, “Hey, I’ve got issues with You!” In other words, God never asks us to do what He, Himself, does not, has not, and will not do Himself – and first – so as to teach us how to do it!
Perspective in the Kingdom of Heaven means, we are righted to conform to God’s way of thinking. Not that we all the sudden understand scripture in the light of our own rationalization. Isaiah says, “My ways are not your ways, nor My thoughts your thoughts.”. (Isaiah 55:8) A good rule of thumb for studying to show yourself approved, knowing you are beginning to “get it” is that we are ever being put out by the difference between the way we think and how God is teaching us He thinks. Our first instinct to truth will always be resistance, in our flesh. If, Gods Word is not brushing up against our sensibilities, we are gaining nothing. I love the truth, but I wrestle with it before I appreciate it. I’ve yet to meet anyone any different. Even when the truth doesn’t butt up against our pride in correction. For example: God says He loves us. This truth may not correct like the one above, but if we are honest, we can’t reconcile why God would love us the way He does. There is a resistance to this truth, albeit, with a different hue than our resistance to go seek out an offended party against us.
Leaning in close…what does this mean? A well respected pastor usually starts out his sermons with this phrase.
“Holy Spirit, make the Book live to me, show me myself, and show me my Savior, and make the Book live to me.
In other words, we lean in close by asking for His perspective not asking for Him to make our perspective make sense with His Word.
Leaning shows us our bent. I remember the first time I rode with my husband on his motorcycle. When he would turn or go around a bend, I instinctively wanted to lean away from the ground or direction of the turn. He had to teach me, that I endangered us both by doing that. On a motorcycle, you lean into the turn or bend which meant that often you lean towards the ground! That was scarey. Also, too much, and we would crash! So he said, “Just stay with me, let your body become one with mine, no more, no less. What a beautiful picture to the unity we are to have with Yeshua the Messiah as Paul so often spoke of, and Yeshua, Himself in John chapter 17. Leaning in close can feel humanly scarey and wrong. But our feelings lie! In Matthew 5:23-24, we must lean in close to the One promised by our Savior to reveal all truth to us.
Leave your gift, go seek out the one you know is angry with you, make peace and come back where I hold your gift in trust to be offered from a pure heart.
A pure heart is attained by obedience, conforming our actions and lives, to what God says is right. It proves that the gift we would offer with just words, will indeed be true with our actions. Words are easy.
God forgive me for being unforgiving.
Leaning in close, the Spirit reveals where indeed we have been, and where we justify it because the person is angry at us, and we have no idea why. Do you not know? Only the Spirit of God can remind you of any such thing that would bring about peace? Inwardly or outwardly, this does not come from us. So in this scripture we see that when we come to Him with our gifts, if there is anything that makes that gift unable to truly be given, He reminds us or reveals to us anything that taints our offering. And not only that, but shows us how to make the gift worthy.
Those two scriptures say a whole lot more than what the mere English words printed on paper say. They are alive and active, cutting marrow from bone, breathing life into our own dead bones, making a new life thrive inside!
Lean in Close! You’ll be transformed, you’ll experience the whole ‘new creation’ we are made into when we lean in as one with Yeshua. Lean in Close!
