Not Ashamed

July 18, 2015 at 1:55 am (Devotionals, Mile Stones, WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Romans 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of the Good News, since it is God’s powerful means of bringing salvation to everyone who keeps trusting, to the Jew especially, but equally the Gentile. For in it is revealed how God makes people righteous in His sight; and from the beginning to the end it is through trust – as the Tanakh puts it, “But the person who is righteous will live his life by trust.”

There are so many things that can be perceived as shameful. I won’t digress to dictionary definitions. The kind of unashamed we are too be in our Savior can only be defined by what He calls – healthy shame, placed within us from His hand in the womb. That nagging sense that we should feel a shrinking inside when we sin. Indeed is because we shrink from His presence, and it grieves Him, like a mother who’s arms reach for her child. The distance sin causes hurts the Lord because He loves our nearness to Him! We shrink inside because our souls were made for Him and the distance makes us small, alone, naked. Shame in this case is a grace given to us, that warns us, and attempts to teach us and guide us back Home.

The kind of shame that comes with being called a “goody-two-shoes”, or prude…ahhh, I remember this shame well! Do you? Yet if God is good, and I guarantee you in the world’s terms He is definitively PRUDE, then we know this shame is not the healthy kind! For God is good, and prude and love, kindness, patient, long suffering (in this world’s terms a glutton for punishment), forgiving, merciful, gracious, slow to anger (in this world’s terms – retarded); these things don’t just describe God in intellectual terms – they ARE Him! All that He is, all that describes Him – He IS! It’s His character those words describe, in Hebrew the word Name means character. So if I feel shame because some call me a goody-two-shoes, then in essence I’m ashamed of Him!

So how many different ways can being ashamed rear it’s ugly head in connection with the Good News that saves us?

To shrink back from:
What God says is right.
How God made things.
What God says about things.

Ahhh…these can cover everything in life.
God says that marriage is one man and one woman. Not ashamed.
God says that to do good to those who hurt you is His way. Not ashamed.
God says that lying is wrong. Not ashamed.
God says not talking about people behind their back is His way. Not ashamed.
God says not worrying about things is His way. Not ashamed.
God says that everyone’s primary purpose in life is to know Him. Not ashamed.
The list goes on and on.
So what does – not ashamed “look” like?

We look at the words of Paul. Trust! If I trust all that God says, the ways He does things, then I trust Him! If I do, then I do the things He does and says. Not ashamed. If I don’t, then I do not – ashamed. What makes you and I shrink back from goodness? Only God can be good. And anything called good, therefore, can only be God.

Speaking up when everyone in the room is joining in on gossip, saying “hey, let’s move on to talking about something less harmful”. Does the heat of conviction spread down your back in such a situation? Do you shrink or are you ashamed? To just stay silent, not join in, will not cut it. To be a light one must shine. Though to be fair it is always better to be silent than join with the tongue of gossip.

It’s a kind of “thing” to shout on Facebook and everywhere one goes; “I’m not ashamed of Jesus!” Maybe they are not, but truly only actions tell the story. There are people who say they believe in Christ, but their actions are ashamed of Him. As God said in His Book, even the demons believe in Him. So what?!?
Will they do good to those who hurt them? Will they turn their cheeks for more hits, will they step forward to say sorry first even if they feel they did no wrong? Will they tell the truth no matter the cost? Will they take each thought like a slave to Yeshua to have Him proof read them and edit them and so change them?
These are the signs of ashamed or unashamed.

What do we stand on? Pride? Self effort? Our opinions? Our rights? Here are the opposites
Humility, weakness, silence, giving up/over. Where do you see a banner raised for these characters?
Are they flying high in your heart so as to make you soar in your deeds? Who’s Spirit controls your life?

I remember well, my shrinking as a child from the taunting of my peers – “prude!” I didn’t know then, that my shrinking was shame for the One who makes me pure. I do now. I’m not ashamed to be called narrow minded because I follow the narrow way, but less because I do it; no! Because He does it first and enables me too follow! Unashamed!
Call me dumb, lame, boring, anything one can attempt to shrink me with, in the name of being God’s kid, part of His Kingdom, a follower of the Way, the Truth, the Life and I will stand to be counted and call it joy. Truthfully it only hurts when people I love do the name calling. Those I don’t know, I feel little about. I’m not God. He loves everybody! Like we love our loved ones, God loves all mankind! A strangers opinion makes little impact, a loved ones can create craters! Who can fathom love like God IS? That’s a love to be unashamed of! To run towards and hide in! Unashamed!

Don’t be ashamed of what makes you able to stand before the Living God! Do it! In secret, in front of everyone, do the unashameful things God sent His Son and His Spirit to enable you and I to do! Then, like Paul, and all those who have gone before us, we can say…

“I am not ashamed!”
With our mouths, yes – but with our every action and deed – here is proof of His touch, His ownership of our lives. I am not ashamed to be His slave! Slaves don’t have the option of living life however they decide. They must do as they are told! Live a life that says you are not ashamed, you do as you are told and delight to be in the service of the Master! No sense of morbid giddiness do we get from persecution – no. But we count it all as joy, because we see this as shaping our character into the likeness of the Name! The Name above all other names! Yeshua, beloved Son of the Father, Salvation, Author and Finisher of our Trust!

Who Stands for Who? ~ Part 2 ~

December 19, 2012 at 1:56 am (WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Matthew 5:38-48
“You have heard that our fathers were told, ‘Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you not to stand up against someone who does you wrong. On the contrary, if someone hits you on the right cheek, let him hit you on the left cheek too! If someone wants to sue you for your shirt, let him have your coat as well! And if a soldier forces you to carry his pack for one mile, carry it for two! When someone asks you for something, give it to him; when someone wants to borrow something from you, lend it to him.
You have heard that our fathers were told, ‘Love your neighbor – and hate your enemy,’ But I tell you, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! Then you will become children of your Father in heaven. For He makes His sun shine on good and bad people alike, and He sends rain to the righteous and unrighteous alike. What reward do you get if you love only those who love you? Why, even tax collectors do that! And if you are friendly only to your friends, are you doing anything out of the ordinary? Even the Goyim (Gentiles) do that! Therefore, be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Wow! I was raised on the quoting of scripture. And I can tell you NO ONE knows what to do with these verses. They have been cut up, inverted, rearranged, and exempted. These words are among the hardest Yeshua (Jesus) ever taught. Right up there with eating His body and drinking His blood!

In our society today these stand as a road block to the progressive movement of “believing in oneself” and “standing up for what’s ‘right’. All of the “movements” against violence, abuse, crime, and phobia’s use language that is directly opposite of Yeshua’s here in Matthew. The language…hesitates…with human logic.

“God said that but He can’t mean its okay for people to be abusive! Shall we tell a child being molested to continue inviting their abuser into their bed!?! Shall we tell the abused spouse to ‘just offer the other cheek’?!? This scripture must be missing something…perhaps God meant…….”

But there it is in black and white, no matter the translation, binding, language; “if someone hits you on the right cheek offer him the left also”.
Let someone sue you, and for more than they have a “right” to. Give if asked, not give if you have, or want. Lend if asked, not if you can. Hmmmm…these words stand in direct opposition to even the christian teachings of yesterday and today. They are so directly opposite of how a human thinks we “adjust” their meanings and invent forms of tolerance. (There’s that word, did you look it up?) But let’s clarify nowhere does Yeshua say, “It’s ok, for abusers to abuse, persecutors to persecute, suer’s to sue, no He doesn’t say its right to do these things. He is telling us a truth we must trust, but don’t see easily. That offering both cheeks, is not saying its okay! We think that way. God is telling us to decide Who to let think for us! Us or Him.

But here’s the thing! Ready? Yeshua then exampled those exact words all the way to His last breath on the cross!

He didn’t just say it, He did it, exactly sentence for sentence, word for word, action for inaction! He showed us how, what we get stuck on is the why. If we could just understand His logic here, perhaps if He would clarify, then we could obey! If you begin to see the danger here, keep reading.

The point is this: the Father in heaven is at His throne and He will not, does not miss a thing. Let Him stand for you. The illusion is that we don’t see immediate results so He must be sleeping! Oh, my dear fellowsheep, don’t believe that! Our Father sees and His justice is immediate, we are not on or in our timing! How else could Yeshua and our Brother Steven have prayed that God not hold their persecutors abuse against them? (Acts 7:60 & Luke 23:34) They must have known something most do not! That in heaven time is now! And if we loose something here on earth it is loosed in heaven. (Matthew 18:18) That our trust is powerful when placed in God’s hands! Our lives become extraordinary instead of ordinary. As Yeshua said, “Even the Gentiles do that!” Gentiles at that time were people who lived and had never heard from Jehovah God. Never read the Ten Commandments. They were “Bible illiterate”. They had had no guidance from the One and Only Living God.

Today, there are so few of these kinds of people, they are the minority not majority! God has kept His promise, the Whole World has easy access to Him now! I don’t mean easy as in those who pay with their lives to live for, study, walk and love Jesus is easy. I mean the accessibility to God, His Word and His voice has never been easier than it is today.

Yeshua is telling us here Who to stand for! And its not ourselves, our things, our rights, our “truths”. But HIS! Because He stands for us, and we are being asked to trust that its enough. Oh, how we must die to ourselves to do what He asks! What He showed us. We become less He becomes more!

Here’s the most common definition to the word tolerance:
– a fair, objective, and permissive attitude towards those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality – differ from one’s own.

You can not read the Bible without understanding 2 things about our little definition to this word where God stands.
1) God is the most tolerant of those who differ from Him.
2) He is not permissive of those ways that differ from His.

One day the world over will see both His extreme patience towards those who opposed Him and His lack of permissiveness to it! What evil seemingly “gets away with” now, will be reconciled one day. All will see, nothing was “gotten away with”. We either live everyday as if that’s absolutely true, or we don’t. This is trust/faith in God.

Final note:
Notice verse 45 from the scripture at the top?
“Then you will become children of your Father in heaven.” This can not be understated. To do, as Yeshua says, is to become a Child of God. We are not asked to do only what feels right or seems logical to us. We are asked not manipulated, not pushed, asked to trust only what God says, just because He said it, if we believe He is truly God.

Proverbs 19:11
People with good sense are slow to anger, and it is their glory to overlook an offense.

Proverbs 25:21
If someone who hates you is hungry, give him food to eat; and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.

Romans 12:14, 17-19, 21
Bless those who persecute you – bless them, don’t curse them!

Repay no one evil for evil, but try to do what everyone regards as good. If possible, and to the extent that it depends on you, live in peace with all people. Never seek revenge, my friends, instead, leave that to God’s anger; for in the Tanakh (Old Testament) it is written, “Adonai (the Lord) says, ‘Vengeance is My responsibility; I will repay.'”

Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.

John 17:9
I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world, but those You have given to Me, because they are Yours.

Heaven Counts the Ballots

September 21, 2012 at 12:22 pm (WSGD Newes) (, , , , , )

I will shine my light, the only way to do so is to hold mine up to THE LIGHT.

This will be my one and only personal perspective and view on the upcoming elections and the vote. Here only will I say what I alone think about it. Yet, I must be clear, I am always looking to my Father for new insight and His direction. So what you read here is likely to at the least be “broadened” at the most “changed”. Everyday I live and breathe Yeshua (Jesus) becomes more alive to me, and His mission to show me the Father and His will is secured.

What I think about all the issues concerning politics is less than nothing in the light of what my Master does. So I will attempt to be brief here.

Abortion: when I go to the poll to vote, the issue of Life; where it comes from and Who it belongs to will be my only motivating factor. If the “candidate” says they don’t agree with abortion means NOTHING to me. What do they believe is the source of Life does. Period no exceptions. One can say abortions wrong but not believing in Who Life is opens the door for “a change of heart” on any issue concerning it. Noone can have the “little” issues right if the “bigger” issue is wrong.

Money – (i.e. taxes, economy, health insurance, gas prices etc.)
There will be absolutely NO money related motive in how I vote. God alone is my “economy”. He fed 5000 with a few fish and a couple loaves of bread. He rained down outta the sky manna, then sent quails. He told Peter to go get “their tax money” out of a fish’s mouth. I will “bank” on no human promises for my provision, nor rely on my own “apparent” control in it.
Health insurance is an oxy-moron. There’s no such thing in reality. I could have the BEST insurance benefits known to man, and my health is no more insured than if I have none. Its all about money and power…insurance of ANY kind. If 90% of those who have gone before me lived without it, so can I. My “health” is in Gods hands as is my provision for it. This “bill” need not even be a point of attention or contention. So no vote of mine will focus on it.
As to the economy…I do my part in contributing to it, as for me I am held to honor and integity with it and fully submit to Who holds my feet to that flame. There is no way I can know what candidate does what with their integrity or honor. Again what they say means NOTHING to me. History alone can teach enough for anyone to know that the words that come from lips, especially when someone is speaking for mans approval, renders what they say at the very least – skeptical.

Do I agree with their economical “plan”? No. There are more holes in every one of them than a net for fishing! So how can one vote rightly? I leave that between you and whoever you call Master. It ends and begins in clarity there. That’s the Truth, I can speak no other.

Voting “your conscience”;
This term gets used alot and it seems to me this is why things are all fumbled up in the first place. To one person their “conscience” votes in favor of abortion, to another against. Man/woman’s conscience is unreliable at best and completely screwed at the worst. I will not vote my conscience in November. That God gave us one is a blessing indeed, but without His we are all cooked. We are made in the image of a perfect conscience in Him. So again the issue comes back to Who directs both yours and the candidate in question. Since I cannot know theirs God leaves me with mine and His for the all sufficient and able “decision making” power.

I will say one thing. There is this tendency and/or opinion that if you don’t vote for Romney or Obama then you “cast your vote” to Obama anyway. Wrong! Why are you voting? Who gave you the gift to do so? Is it your “duty” to America that sends you to the polls? Or is it because God has given you the gift and honor of having a way to say “yes or no” to those things that either promote Life or promote Death?  If you vote in the light of the former, then vote your conscience and believe what “everyone” else tells you. If the latter, your vote is for the eyes of your Maker and none other and you believe His opinion is paramount and trumps whatever “power” the vote you cast sends in the human wind of influence. Vote as if only Heaven is counting the ballots! Again, this is the Truth, however uncomfortable or far fetched it may seem.

I will not say who I am voting for. Its between myself and God. If you have no confidence in my “vote” because I will not shout my decision here that is not my problem. I have said enough to gain the confidence of those who call themselves my brother and sister, AND enough to differentiate those from them who would not claim themselves as such. Which is more than enough. I claim no “right” to know anyone else’s vote, nor would it change my opinion of them. There are people headed in God’s direction who are going to vote for Romney AND who are not! God cares less for politics than He does their hearts! No “wrong” vote or “right” will keep Him from His own! If this is not true, I would not know Him now.

May the Way, the Truth, the Life be all our guide in every decision we make from the least to the most, may His grace and mercy, His Love and justice be the anvil upon which our hearts “pivot”, with the Spirit of His character and conscience as our guide, our hope, and our confidence! To God be the glory, now and forever!
