That is the Question…

***The following is a quote from the book Rift in Time by Michael Phillips. ***(all emphasis mine)

Many of Mrs. Wagner’s words repeated themselves over and over in her brain. She still did not understand all she had heard. But she understood enough to know that God’s Voice was speaking quietly to her.

“Do you acknowledge God intellectually, or have you made Him Lord of your life?” she could hear Erin’s mother (Mrs. Wagner) saying. Juliet smiled as she remembered the woman’s next words, “With all due respect to Shakespeare, that is the question.

“What does it mean to make Him Lord?” She had herself asked.

That’s the relinguishment,” Mrs. Wagner had answered. “To make another Lord means giving up your right to sit on the throne, to make decisions, to set your priorities, to determine your future. Who is in charge? Who makes the decisions? Who is Master? There can be only One Lord in any human heart. If you are your own master, there’s no place on that throne for the Savior of men. Its the decision who will be the permanent occupant of it that eventually comes to all. And upon that decision all the rest of life hinges.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I recall having watched the movie Invictus with Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman. The story is a small glimpse of the story of Nelson Mandela. The movie is “good”. Inspiring, clean, and rubs the ointment of God’s ways on fallen fleshly human beings. It wasn’t until a quote from Mandela came upon my ears that I became leery of its over all message. The quote?

“I am the master of my fate.”

It went with more words in the same vein but those words pulsated around my spirit and put the rest of the movie in perspective for me. Hearing again Yeshua (Jesus) say

“Not everyone who says “Lord, Lord, will be welcomed…many having said…but Lord, didn’t we do all the good things…”

Mandela did indeed do “good” things (if the movie has portrayed the truth) but if…if…Mandela was the master of his own fate??? Its questionable why anyone can take the credit for the “good” they do…albeit even if it was a “good” God would endorse.

The quote from the book above is Nail on the head truth! There is not an inkling of the Spirit of God in words that suggest anyone can master their own fate…much less a day of their life! Relinquishment must happen every day…to The Master of all fates.

What a gift to be given the choice to give up our lives that the Master of all Good can take what we do and make it all good! Glory to God!

Epidemic Symptom Relief

April 22, 2013 at 10:57 pm (Remodeling the Mind) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

I am going to post a link to an article below as the “body” of this post. But first I want to qualify a couple of things.

1. The blogger who wrote this is valued to me. I do not use his blog to “slam him“. His post is just a great example of the kind of “rabbit-hole” hyperbole that I myself have followed and if you are honest – you have too. So please don’t start lamb-basteing this blogger with judgement. My hope is that it will instead by the work of the Spirit of God cause us all to ask God to show us our own tendency to focus on the wrong things (typically with “pure” motives) and we forget what a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” looks like – in ourselves. I am not referring to the author of the blog…but the evil one whose work it is to get us to focus on symptom fixing so as to keep us from the very heart of God.

2. We live in a world that has bought…and when I say bought I mean we have invested everything into a lie.
Symptom treating is epidemic now. In our physical bodies…in our Spiritual diseases. Look at the latest pharmaceutical commercials. These are ALL to treat a symptom and not the actual problem. Everyone of them has this sort of dreamy music with spring and summer scenes pouring out as if a new pill encapsulates this “cure” that few and I mean few have possibly experienced. Towards the middle of each one, they start to list the symptoms that this new symptom treater can cause. Example: here’s a cure for smokers, take this and stop smoking BUT though now you may be “smoke free” you may now be: suicidal, have ulcers, bleeding of the stomach or intestinal tract, oh and in rare cases may experience heart failure or stroke!! I just love the word “experience” the way they so calmly say it…to the tone of a Disney “experience”…eyes rolling.
For us in the “christian world” it should be obvious…but alas it has invaded there too.
All the psychology of how, where, when, and why we sin…falls in the same sphere. Notice too, psychology also falls under a “medical licence” as well….hummmm…I began to get a hint here. Ahhh…the wolf has indeed found a sheep suit! People just want to feel well. Make a pill, give them a dose of “reason”…turn them into symptom treaters and they’ll feel like “at least they are doing something! Oh my dear brothers and sisters, I pray the Spirit of God move into this blindness!

So here is the post, and yes I commented but as I said before…my hope is that as God did for me, He will do for us all…
As you read…ask Him (God) to speak to you where you need sight restored. Where we tend to get side tracked by symptoms instead of the problem. For this is my hearts intent here, not to cause useless meanderings down “debate lane”.

John 17:14-19 ~ Yeshua (Jesus) praying to the Father for us all…

“I have given them Your Word, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the world – just as I Myself do not belong to the world. I don’t ask You to take them out of the world, but to protect them from the Evil One. They do not belong to the world just as I do not belong to the world. Set them apart by holiness by means of the TruthYour word is Truth. Just as You sent Me into the world, I have sent them into the world. On their behalf I am setting Myself apart for holiness, so that they too may be set apart for holiness by means of the Truth.”

Matthew 11:12 ~ Yeshua speaking…

From the time of Yochanan the Immerser (John the Baptizer) until now, the Kingdom of God has been suffering violence; yes, violent ones are trying to snatch it away.

Wonders of Wisdom ~ Part 1

January 5, 2013 at 4:44 am (Thoughts to Ponder) (, , , , , , , )

Wisdom; as defined by Wikipedia

Wisdom is the judicious application of knowledge. It is a deep understanding and realization of people, things, events or situations, resulting in the ability to apply perceptions, judgement, and action in keeping with this understanding.
It often requires “control” of one’s emotional reactions that “universal” principles, reasons and knowledge prevail to determine one’s actions.
Wisdom is also the comprehension of what is true coupled with optimum judgement as to action
Synonyms include: sagacity, discernment, insight
(The ” ” were added by me, as the choice of word can either be outright ridiculous or leave room for doubt as to wisdom’s ability to be gaged by it)

The Hebrew meaning for Wisdom is found on the link below. (Please take the time to click and read before reading further)

I included both “the most common” world-view and the Biblical view of the Word Wisdom. As you can see, one leaves room for question’s as to where Wisdom comes from. One does not…depending on…well…how wise one is :-).

I have chosen to make this a “thoughts to ponder” style post. Quotes from all throughout history by those who have followed Yeshua (Jesus). With a wrap up with the Final Authority…the Word of God. I do not believe anyone should or need go any further than God, Himself for their final definition for Wisdom. As, He is Wisdom, and can best speak to each of us about it better than all the cyber-searches, word studies, and other ways of seeking Wisdom that can be found. (In my humble opinion 🙂 )

Its says in the Word of God, that Wisdom was before anything ever existed and will be found calling out unto all eternity. Lets listen to some of what Wisdom has to say.

If we consult the scriptures about the stock into which we have to be grafted, and the kind of tree it is, we find this text concerning wisdom: She is a tree of life to those who hope in her and put their trust in her, as their Lord. This tree of life into which we have to be grafted is the Messiah (Christ) who is the power and the wisdom of God – the Messiah who by His death, that unprecedented gift of Divine Love, became for us a tree of life.
~ Origen – A Alexandrian Biblical scholar and writer from c.185 to c.254

Born if the virgin, He came forth from the womb as the Light of the whole world to shine on all. His light is received by those who long for the splendour of perpetual light that can never be destroyed by darkness. The sun we know everyday is followed by the darkness of night, but the Son of Righteousness never sets, because wisdom cannot give way to evil.
~ Ambrose – Bishop of Milan from 340-397

If wisdom delights you, ‘the very wisdom of God will show herself to them’. If friendship, they shall love God more than themselves; and God will love them more than they love themselves, for they live Him and themselves and each other through Him, while He loves Himself and through Himself them.
~ Anselm of Canterbury – Italian-born monk from 1033-1109

Every creature is by its nature a kind of effigy and likeness of the Eternal Wisdom, but this is particularly so of a creature which in the scripture has been raised up by the Spirit of Prophecy to image spiritual things.
~ Bonaventure – Italian Franciscan theologian from 1221-1274

O Wisdom of the eternal Father, lighten my mind, that I may see only those things that please You and may be blinded to all other things. Grant that I may walk in Your ways and that nothing else may be light and pleasant.
~ John Bradford – English Protestant Martyr 1510-1555

Knowledge is proud that he has learned so much; Wisdom is humble that he knows no more.
~ William Cowper – English Poet from 1731-1800

Mere silence is not wisdom, for wisdom consists in knowing when and how to speak and when and where to keep silent.
~ Jean Pierre Camus – French Bishop from 1582-1652

Creation not only exists, it discharged truth…Wisdom requires a surrender, verging on the mystical, of a person – The Glory of Existence.
~ Gerhard von Rad – German Biblical Scholar (after the 1950’s)

It is an honor to believe what the lips of Jesus taught. I had sooner be a fool with Christ than a wise man with the philosophers.
~ Charles Spurgeon (1890)

The only true wisdom is to be always prepared to meet God, to put nothing off which concerns eternity, and to live like men ready to depart at any moment.
~ J.C. Ryle (1879)

For not that which is approved of men now, but what shall finally be approved by God, is true wisdom.
~ John Tillotson (1819)

Being wise and being knowledgeable are two different things. But when knowledge begins with an understanding of God’s character, our wisdom will continue to grow by merely acting on what we know.
~ Vicki Kuyper (2003)

Romans 11:33-36
O the depths of the riches and the wisdom and knowledge of God! How inscrutable are His judgements! How unsearchable are His ways! For ‘Who has known the mind of Adonai? Who has been His counselor? Who has given Him anything and made Him pay it back?’ For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen.

Romans 16:27
…to the only wise God, through Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ), be the glory forever and ever! Amen.

1 Corinthians 1:20-30
Where does that leave the philosopher, the Torah-teacher, or any of today’s thinkers? Hasn’t God made this worlds wisdom look pretty foolish? For God’s wisdom ordained that the world, using its own wisdom, would not come to know Him. Therefore God decided to use the “nonsense” of what we proclaim as His means of saving those who come to trust in it. Precisely because Jews ask for signs and Greeks try to find wisdom, we go on proclaiming a Messiah executed on a stake as a criminal! To Jews this is an obstacle, and to Greeks it is nonsense; but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, this same Messiah is God’s power and God’s wisdom! For God’s “nonsense” is wiser than humanity’s “wisdom”.
And God’s “weakness” is stronger than humanity’s “strength”. Just look at yourselves brothers – look at those whom God has called! Not many of you are wise by the world’s standards, not many wield power or boast noble birth. But God chose what the world considers nonsense in order to shame the wise; God chose what the world considers weak in order to shame the strong; and God chose what the world looks down on as common or regards as nothing in order to bring to nothing what the world considers important; so that no one should boast before God. It is His doing that you are united with the Messiah Yeshua. He has become wisdom for us from God, and righteousness and holiness and redemption as well!

Proverbs 3:19-20
Adonai by wisdom founded the earth, by understanding He established the heavens, by His knowledge the deep burst open and the dew condenses from the sky.

Proverbs 2:6-11
For Adonai gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He stores up common sense for the upright, is a shield to those whose conduct is blameless, in order to guard the courses of justice and preserve the way of those faithful to Him. Then you will understand righteousness, justice, fairness, and every good path.
For wisdom will enter your heart, knowledge will be enjoyable for you, discretion will watch over you, and discernment will guard you.

ALL of chapter 8 of Proverbs!!!
If someone were to ask me the best chapter in the Bible for Wisdom’s description, character, and method’s of operation…Proverbs 8 would be it. I would only add that you can replace the word wisdom for Yeshua (Jesus) throughout the chapter. For the sake of not typing this into a book, I strongly recommend reading this chapter as the wrap for this post. Going the extra mile to seek wisdom is never a waste of time, for in seeking Him, we shall be found by Him, anointed with His presence and find our true sense of “it is well” with our soul!

We are all bound up in the cross and the tomb, until our “unhiding” brings us to the heart of Yeshua (Jesus) and His Father

Then we are no longer bound to the cross or the tomb, but ever ALIVE!
Never to be touched again by the torture of not knowing the Heart of Salvation
Ever alive in Him, whose heart never dies
Never again prone to hiding – only Discovery!

Quicksands of Grace

September 14, 2012 at 12:33 pm (Thoughts to Ponder) (, , , , , , , , )

For the one who believes in the Son and has been brought to the Father;
And there, having known, heard, and obeyed Him;
His Grace is as quicksand
Every move we make going towards Him
“Sucks us up” deeper into that Grace and holds us in the grip of His Love.
