Distinctives

Recently I embarked on a new way of eating. Diet is a concept set up for temporary experimentation; sadly. This concept of food; what’s good, what is not, is so akin to the concept of sin it quite frankly amazes me. Have you ever googled quotes about sin? How about quotes about animal protein? The main stream of Web-based information is strikingly simular. Weak and paltry at best in helping one get at the heart of the matter. As with all things God leaves plenty of room for us to formulate our own opinions or adopt His as He created all and knows best how to advise how life can be lived to the fullest. Man’s opinions are as countless as the stars. .. with plenty of options to choose from. God’s are simple. .. but not easy. The options are few in order to keep it simple; which we need in all honesty. In man’s mind God is marrow minded. Yet look what He has created! If that’s narrow minded. .. then perhaps man is projecting!?! The most narrow minded God can be comes from man’s mind dulled by his own intellect and pride. We are just lazy, pleasure seeking fools with comfort driven desires to kick God out of the very universe He creates. Praise be to God, we’ll never be able to think and therefore it becomes! Not like Him. In Him the possibilities are endless, apart from Him our thoughts produce vapor and mist!

So. .. this new lifestyle of food consumption has really revealed much in the spiritual nature of my condition. .. perhaps more so than my physical. I begin to understand why diets are so short lived. One cannot begin to deprive the body of the previous poisons it has called “food” without it revealing the true nature of its need and depravity. After a time it becomes a question of “Why do this, with all its ‘misery’ and die anyway?” Ahhhh. .. man’s logic, it stupefies the heart. .. or as God calls it. .. hardens. Discipline is hard. .. endurance with it is down right extenuating! When I began down this road it was exciting and new. I knew in my head that it would be hard but the newness of it for the first 30 days kept me from feeling the difficulties. 60 plus days and I’m still inspired because the body really does begin to reveal the amazingness that God created it to be by now, but the world has shrunk in its options! There are two restaurants we can eat at that adhere to this way of eating. Two! We make our own snacks, meals, condiments. .. everything. The shelves in my cupboards are bare. .. My frig. .. poor little thing, is about to burst at the seams! I miss quickie meals. I miss spending an average of 1-2 hours in my kitchen (including clean up) verses the 4 plus it seems I spend in it now. My forty plus years of living has plenty of recipes to draw from in the “old” ways. I love cooking and cherish creativity in meal making… always have. But the new way leaves me feeling like all the “old” experience helps about as much as if I only spent 10 minutes worth of experience before.  It’s humbling! Do you see the spiritual overtones in the language? The few options the world presents verses before the world was my oyster! The knowledge of the former way being useless to the new! The need to dig deeper to find the source of my discontent verses before the shelves of every aisle at the store held a temporary “fix”. The concept that everything God gives does not have a “shelf life”; its not meant to be kept but consumed and lived! Here’s a real big eye opener! Try to find a product in the grocery store with absolutely no sugar, oil, or dairy! Its like shopping in the store of the heart trying to find one motive without self-centeredness or  self-need! I find God never points me in a direction physically that He doesn’t intend to work most on my heart in His hands!

By now, you are likely either drawing conclusions about the eating style I’m referring to or dying of curiosity! Forgive my vagueness. I’m simply not trying to endorse my food choices with this piece. I’m happy to share if you want to comment/question below but the main ingredient to this dish is not “food”. It’s Life, in the hands of a God who even told us how to eat food for our physical best, as well as made sure that the meal He emphasized was at the heart of our minds and thoughts being emptied for Him alone to fill. .. With His Word. True food. .. is His every direction/instruction.

Do I crave the old stuff? Sure, from time to time. .. but do I really miss it?  No. I miss the ease of the former. .. but I’m learning to love the work of the new. Waiting for that part in the process when it will no longer feel like work. .. it’s joy now but Everlasting joy too! The danger is always how we balance the earn/reward mentality. I could still get sick and die. There’s no promise of cancer free living just because I’m eating right now. A plus B does not equal C in the Kingdom of Heaven. .. not the way we do it. If your physical life is getting your attention. .. God is drawing your real attention to your heart in His hands. Notice this in the parables Yeshua (Jesus) taught with! Its not what the eyes see, and body feels that grants us knowledge. .. it’s been given only to draw our gaze up to His “big screen” of Life! The true question becomes the distinctive: “Am I trying to glorify myself or is my sincere heart for God and His ways to be glorified?”

I praise Him with my whole heart these days that His ways and thoughts are higher and so much unlike mine, yet so humbled that He makes them accessible to me! In the smallest of things He is the biggest of all! And in the biggest of things His simplicity is astounding! I’m in awe of Him! What a mind blowing God we serve!

Battle Tactics from Yeshua

Mark 1:23-28

In their synagogue just then was a man with an unclean spirit in him, who shouted, “What do You want with us, Yeshua from Natzeret (Jesus from Nazareth)? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are – the Holy One of God!” But Yeshua rebuked the unclean spirit, “Be quiet and come out of him!” Throwing the man into a convulsion, it gave a loud shriek and came out of him. They were all so astounded that they began asking each other, “What is this? A new teaching, one with authority behind it! He gives orders even to the unclean spirits, and they obey Him!” And the news about Him spread quickly through the whole region of the Galil (Galilee).

See here we can see a tactic of God and the enemy. What God wants for a time to remain quiet or secret the enemy’s tactic is to reveal and shout at the top of his lungs -even if it’s God’s very name! Likewise what God would have revealed, the enemy then seeks to submerge and distort! In this particular time. .. it was the Fathers will that Yeshua come in quietly and keep the focus on the work with His people before the “powers that be” took notice. So the enemy sought to reveal in advanced. Also notice, the enemy obeyed Yeshua, but fought all the way. Our enemy will not relent. .. but must at last yield… but he will go attempting to tear apart the room as he goes. This is a war. .. and the enemy is determined not to leave any “spoils” in his wake. Yeshua took this seriously. We must learn from Him. .. and all we need to do so is right in these four gosples… within each and every line of Yeshua’s works and words.

So how do we apply this to today, now, in our times. It’s quite simple. The enemy now seeks only to submerge. .. depress… distort that Yeshua is here, alive and King. So we are to shout like John the Baptist, given just a few short sentences prior to the Scripture above; shout. .. “turn to God from your sins! Be made clean by Yeshua’s blood!”  Our “tactic” is to make way to allow God to do His work. So. ..our shouting, speaking, proclaiming in effect “makes a way” for Adonai to enter in. How different that perspective can make us when we see that sharing Yeshua in all things with everyone we know makes such an impact on the front lines of Yeshua/God’s invasion across enemy lines!

Also note: an unclean spirit often gets defined as ‘demon possessed’. Caution. .. any spirit which is considered unclean is simply a spirit that has not been cleaned, washed, renewed by God. When I become argumentative and defensive. .. My spirit is unclean. When sarcasm and cynicism invade my thoughts first and then my speech. .. My spirit is in need of cleansing. We often make the works of the enemy far more powerful than they are and paint a picture of the worst debasement when in fact it’s far less complex and a simple need to turn from those things unclean to God is the ointment needed to heal the spirit within. David was never demon possessed yet he asked the Lord to renew a right or clean spirit within him. (Psalm 51:10)

So here is our basic training ground: our minds, our spirits within. Discerning, with the help of the Holy Spirit, where our unclean spirits need to be told to turn to God and claim Yeshua’s forgiveness and then we take action to do the opposite of what we were doing in the power of that unclean spirit. We take note of it and ask Adonai (the Lord) to renew a correct spirit within us. In essence we turn from our sins to God. Simple…yes. Easy…no. We have an enemy who will stop at nothing to dull our minds and spirits to the need for inner correction! If he can stop us there. .. then we can not shout to others in pointing to Yeshua. Know thy God and He will teach you how to deal with the enemy! For that enemy is first and last God’s enemy… this is why he is ours. Satan is no enemy but a friend to those who have no “turn signals” towards heaven!

God Sense

July 4, 2014 at 3:27 am (Mile Stones) (, , , , , , , , )

When I walk with God,  everything changes. In moments, in perspective, in perception, in reception and finally in definition. I have always found it interesting that God so honed in His communication based on our five senses. Touch, smell, taste, sight, and hearing. Our memories are acutely trained to follow our senses. .. the training ground of which none can describe or remember. Everyday as I walk with the God who created all things is different. .. unexpected and yet predictable in one way. .. always. ..He is Trustworthy, true. .. always 100% right 100% of the time. The training of our senses never ceases. On any given day He is teaching me to pull those five gifts back and ignore them completely one minute; the next He is turning me around to pick them up and play with them like a child with a toy. I like to say He orchestrates my being daily. A new symphony everyday. The theme of such extraordinary training is: balance. There are times when my sense of smell is dull and elusive. .. undependable. ..tricksie. 🙂 The same can be said of taste, touch, sound and sight. In the hands of the Living God my senses never fail me. When He says “ignore what you see” in one moment I am blinded. .. if I obey. .. for His good will. When He says, “look! Take in. Let your eyes take all in!” I am, if I obey,  given sight to see as though I was blind the moment before and now I see for the first time.

One thing I have learned most ardently is that my feelings are not, have never been, and never will be “a sense”. They are the responders to the five, but have no ability in and of themselves to “feel”. When I say feelings I mean the heart/mind responses, fear, joy, sadness, delight, despair, elation, anger, compassion etc. He has told me, “listen (discern) the spirit behind. ..x, y, z”. This is where I learn God Sense. When what I see is anger and division He trains my senses to see the truth and instructs me how to respond (aka; feelings get trained to respond to His sense not mine). He never guarantees that I’ll see with my eyes or ears or any other sense that His interpretation will be known right away. .. Simply that if I trust Him. .. one day I’ll know. So in a sense. .. My senses are constantly being rendered useful only for a day I have not yet encountered but useless in the one I’m in.

I find this training in all of scripture with every single individual in it without exception. .. even Yeshua (Jesus) the now “head of command” at this basic training camp. The Spirit is our special soul administrator of this camp. My Counselor, my Guide, faithful to point me to my Commander and Chief at all times.

Today I am shouting out a ‘GLORY’ to the God of senses. .. the God of sense! He is Holy in His ways! So unlike mine. .. so vast and full of perception and angles no human mind can comprehend without Him. I am free of the bondage to the flat 1D way of living. ..3D is full of the Father, Son, and Spirit. It yanks my chain and blows my mind but never let’s me lose it!

May you begin to ask Him to train your senses. .. tune them in. .. to the only “channel” that will get you Home.
