Testing, Testing…

The above verse is one I started to put to memory around 6 months ago. I taped it written out to my bathroom wall, front door, cupboard in my kitchen, and started tattooing it on my heart. At the time, we had just launched our own business. I was sure I’d need to be reminded I was seen and known by God, (both Sam and I) and even more sure that it would stretch us with testing. Little did I know the extent of such testing! One month after our launch into S Corp-ship, God pointed His finger at a different geographical location for us. We blinked and blinked, shook our heads to attempt to clear our eyes in case we were “seeing things” and said “okay, Lord, we’ll knock on the doors – Your will be done.”
What else could we do? Doors flew open, and we got the message.
So in the midst of an already crazy schedule with huge adjustments being made already, off I went to find a house in Rio Rancho, NM. It took 4 days longer than planned (nothing really in perspective) but here sat a house that seemed to have been literally set aside specifically for us. No interest in the property for months and open houses unattended…ours was the only offer. This house was so nice it was rather odd it hasn’t just screamed off the market, lesser houses had but this one just sat there. The owner and I both remarked that it seemed Someone had this place in mind for us. The contract was signed, inspections passed with flying colors and off I went back to Denver to pack. Meanwhile, all the stuff of life still needed tending to and the holidays were about to converge on the calender.

Busy became a newly defined word for us. Stretched? Huh, we were as maxed out as a human could get on every level. The verse on the various surfaces and constantly rolling over my mind was being tattooed every second of the day. I leaned on it, and joy bubbled within. Oh how we had been praying for God to move us out of Denver! An answer came, though the direction was not what we expected, nor hoped. It was around the beginning of December that Wayne Stiles book Waiting on God fell into my hands and I began to traverse it’s pages with much desperation. The legistics to buying the house were solid, but it seemed that we picked the one house that could not be sold as it was due to a new city zoning ordinance that was enacted right about the time I first laid eyes on it. It had to have a garage. The owner was in a real bad spot now having to deal with a huge hit to the pocket book. The search to find a way out of it began as my boxes filled up and our nerves began to be tested in extreme.

Then began the whole “everything that can go wrong will go wrong” motto to EVEYTYHING we did. Our truck got vandalized, computers for the business crashed, parts went out, answers about the house vasselated going back and forth with no real answers, Sam’s grandpa died. Continuing to “head south for the winter” became impossible. Limbo is and has been the motif since mid November. Living out of and surrounded by boxes has lost its excitement. Do we doubt what God said in the beginning or wonder whether we heard Him? Yet He wouldn’t release us to pull out of the deal. No clear shut doors would occur no matter how hard we pressed for one. Limbo drags on, and our back is sore. “What in heavens name?”

The house has lost all and I mean all its appeal. We just want to empty boxes and return to a state of “normal”. Here – there, we don’t care. God’s will be done has been our prayer, fingers off the whole thing!

We wait and ask only that our eyes stay tightly tuned into the process, the lesson being taught, the wisdom to be gained and light to be shared. The light grows dimmer in our vision, limbo is starting to feel like torture. Still no release.
Then I come across this treasure of words from Abba, Waynes book.

Psalms 105:18-19
They shackled his (Joseph) feet with chains, and they bound him in irons; until the time when his Word proved true, God’s utterance kept testing him.

Is it ironic that that verse in Jeremiah became a project for memory back in June? I don’t think so. I’m not big on coincidences, cause I don’t believe God considers anything such.
Here’s a quote from Waynes book.

image

The whole book centers on Joseph’s story. Wow, what I’m learning! Its clear the testing we’ve encountered is no accident, and just like Joseph, we do not see what all God is doing, most of what He’s doing, in fact! Somewhere behind hidden doors, God’s moving fast and furious, solidifying His will, not just for us, but every single person that has been and will be effected by all this. We’re not the only ones waiting. ..everyone connected to this is waiting, family, friends, realtors, lenders, neighbors, everyone! Waiting and watching very closely because God said to us to go and now He’s held us for a time at the crossing. People are weary of the prospect of saying “goodbye” to us where we are, others can’t wait for us to arrive. What a strange turn of events and the circumstances just lay in front of us, waiting for God’s green light. Whichever way He gives it, all will welcome the release. Stay or go, it doesn’t matter.

Have my eyes stayed on You, my God and King? Is my devotion to You the brightest light? Oh, how my heart truly hopes so, dear Lord! May Your honor continue to stretch out my weary and waiting soul. Not for a house or for empty boxes, but Your Salvation displayed for all to see. Your beautiful timing and amazing will! Your strong protection and constant presence, no matter the situation! What a promise! Just like You were with Joseph, You are with us, through all. There is no greater gift! Test me, Adonai, and make true my devotion to You!

I love squirrel watching in the morning. (I always have nuts handy to feed)

I guess you could say I like to nature watch, really. To go outside first thing and connect with the only thing living that answers to exactly what God either designed it to do by instinct or answers to His heed with undelayed obedience. The sky, wind, clouds. Teaching my eyes to see what waiting without complaint looks like. The trees, shrubs, and grasses that wait for water. Or for the drying of the Sun. The ground that knows it’s useful without any evidence necessary…waiting for the show of its slow and unappreciated nurture. The birds and squirrels play then eat then forage then fight then play then rest then eat. .. repeat. It’s their work. Living. Just living. Yet all unique and with personalities intricate and unashamed. The creatures of the morning don’t compare themselves to each other. I’ve often been tempted to think they know a thing or two about jealousy. Fighting over who sits by the pile of nuts and who has to dash in and evade the “pile master”. To us its cute to assign human characteristics to animals. Disney would be out of business if people didn’t have a driving need to understand things only as we understand them. But if you look. .. and listen to their Creator tell you about them; you see its a grave identity error.

I come away with a heavy heart at times at how we as humans don’t think we can “relate” without making everything like us. It limits the souls ability to really know what relating is. It’s why all the “match-making” companies have succeeded. Note: I said the companies succeed NOT the matches! Some do, but not because of the company (or method) they used to come together. We are bent to find common ground. Deluded by the concept that simular thinking guarantees longevity. Perhaps in nature but not in human relationships. (Iron sharpens iron…so one person sharpens another)  One operates without choice by the program that has been assigned to it. We do not. Everyday, every hour of every minute we have the ability to decide our programming is wrong and invent a new one. Or rather our Programmer is wrong. Most walk through life never having the slightest desire to know the Who behind our existence. And hence the who we are. The earth and it’s creatures of instinct don’t have a choice. We do. It’s a gift and a curse.

So I wake up and introduce my senses and mind to the world devoid of human likeness to set the pace for the day. To remember that when I encounter another person to really look at them as if I’ve never seen “a them” before. Tuning my ears to listen to the Who who made them. Just like with the squirrels and birds and earth and sky. Learning not to place my likeness on anything but to train my mind to go immediately to the true Likeness by which they were made for the what, how, why, where and when of each thing I encounter in each moment as it comes. The squirrels are master’s at living in the moment. All creatures of instinct are. I envy them this ability.
They are never counting down minutes to a future moment. Biding their time. They are never “clocked in” and waiting to “clock out”. They just LIVE each minute without any concept of the next or their last. What freedom!

My human perspective runs to Abba and asks Him. ..
“How can I do this Lord? The whole world exist to beat the Clock, get off work, wish for more time, look forward to an event, a vacation, a time outside the moment we are in. It seems almost impossible for human beings to only take each minute into consideration like these creatures do.”

His answer?
“Nothing is impossible with Me! The key to staying in the moment isn’t in focusing on staying in the moment. It’s in staying with Me.”

Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness…and all these things shall be added unto you.

My response?
“Teach me!”

And He is. You’ll not find a class or seminar or school or program that can teach this anywhere in the human kingdom. It’s only at His feet, like Mary, forsaking time and human custom to learn how to LIVE!

I Am the Resurrection and the Life

John 11:25-26 Yeshua (Jesus) speaking…

Yeshua said to her, (Marta – Martha) “I AM the Resurrection and the Life! Whoever puts his trust in Me will live, even if he dies; and everyone living and trusting in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”

I love that Yeshua asked Marta if she believed Him. What patience and love is displayed in such a question. The former statement being the truth was unquestionable. Whether Marta believed it or not – it is truth. Yet, Yeshua is reaching for her heart here, beautifully intimate and full of safe invitation. The statement of who He is is full of hope even cloaked in a world of mystery.
How many of us know what Resurrection means? Vaguely we may know to some degree in connection to the Resurrection of Yeshua after three days in the tomb. A coming back to life. But what the word Resurrection means in His statement to Marta, can not be based by any known experience yet. He has not yet called forth Lazarus from his tomb, nor has He Himself been raised. So Resurrection here must mean more. Here in the Oxford Thesaurus are the many ways to view to the word.

Resurrection – verb – restore to life; revive; regenerate; revitalize; breath new life into; bring back to life; reinvigorate; resuscitate; rejuvenate; stimulate; reestablish; relaunch.

So which of these is the meaning of Resurrection in the verse above? I believe the word regenerate is the closest link. Here is Oxfords definition of regenerate.

Regenerateverb – to make something develop and grow strong again; to grow again; to make something grow again.

It’s akin to breathe new life into. In so many words: anything with Life grows; anything without Life does not. So how can a human being’s body, who does not know Yeshua grow??
I believe that anything that comes from the mind of God; His invention knows its master. So in essence our tissues and blood obey their Master and so we grow. The heart beats in accordance to His will. That we can enter into this same will with our own will is the pivotal point to our souls growth or retardation. Thus Yeshua asked Marta…what will you believe?

Yeshua = Life
Yeshua = Resurrection – growth

We see this beautifully explained in John the fifth chapter.

John 5: 19-40

Therefore, Yeshua said this to them: “Yes, indeed! I tell you that the Son cannot do anything on His own, but only what He sees the Father doing; whatever the Father does, the Son does too. For the Father loves the Son and shows Him everything He does; and He will show Him even greater things than these, so that you will be amazed. Just as the Father raises the dead and makes them alive, so too the Son makes alive anyone He wants. The Father does not judge anyone but has entrusted all judgement to the Son, so that all may honor the Son as they honor the Father. Whoever fails to honor the Son is not honoring the Father who sent Him. Yes, indeed! I tell you whoever hears what I am saying and trusts the One who sent Me has eternal life – that is, he will not come up for judgement but has already crosses over from death to life! Yes, indeed! I tell you that there is coming a time – in fact, its already here – when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who listen will come to life. For just as the Father has life in Himself, so He has given the Son life to have in Himself. Also He has given Him authority to execute judgement, because He is the Son of Man. Don’t be surprised at all this; because the time is coming when all who are in the grave will hear His voice and come out – those who have done good to a resurrection of Life, and those who have done evil to a resurrection of judgement. I can’t do anything on My own. As I hear, I judge; and My judgement is right; because I don’t seek My own desire, but the desire of the One who sent Me.
If I testify on My own behalf, My testimony is not valid. But there is someone else testifying on My behalf, and I know that the testimony he is making is valid – you have sent to Yochanan (John), and he has testified to the truth. Not that I collect human testimony; rather, I say these things so that you might be saved. He was a lamp burning and shining, and for a little while you were willing to bask in his light.
But I have a testimony that is greater than Yochanan’s. For the things the Father has given Me to do, the very things I am doing now, testify that the Father has sent Me.
In addition, the Father who sent Me has Himself testified on My behalf. But you have never heard His voice or seen His shape, moreover, His word does not stay in you, because you don’t trust the One He sent. You keep examining the Tanakh (scriptures, Old Testament) because you think that in it you have eternal life. Those very Scriptures bear witness to Me, but you won’t come to Me in order to have Life!

Not all things that breathe have Life! Except where the living parts are submitted to the will of all Life. The body may grow but the heart, mind, soul is dead without Yeshua, the Resurrection and the Life! For those with ears to hear…this may be mysterious and hard to grasp but it somehow is understood by the simple accepting it as truth and trusting Yeshua who said it. With the will turned towards the One Will that is constantly being done, the soul becomes alive in the newness of Life that this world can not give even a small view to.

We are all essentially dead but with living bodies that carry us towards the new life Yeshua set forth into motion long before He set Himself into the human mold of containment. He began His Resurrective work far beyond the echoes of King Davids prayers and the resounding folds of the Garden’s gate’s that closed behind Adam and Eve’s exit. Indeed! Regeneration began even as the perfection of the World was formed in the mind of Him who created all living things.

“I Am the Resurrection and the Life! Do you believe this?”

Every word echoes out to every heart with beloved patience and intimate invitation…from Marta to you and me…to all – according to a Promise Keeper who has never; ever broken His word or promises.

Amidst the after glow of the enemy’s dedication to submersion of Yeshua’s arising work on the cross. Past the easter eggs and bunnies…beyond the candy and new fancy attire. Even beyond the refrain of every church service’s sermon…Resurrection and Life blows out like the breath that stirred the dust into a human. Its awakening power is done inside the impossible (to man), shaking awake new life into the will of each man, woman and child. Enabling human minds, wills and hearts to hear the voice their physical bodies have obeyed since He formed them in the womb; and REAL Life begins!! Fully alive we become in Yeshua’s body and blood! What power! Yet it only comes in the acknowledgement of utter weakness! They who have ears…let them hear!!

HE IS RISEN!

Purpose and Provision ~ Part One

March 5, 2013 at 12:47 am (WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

***For Linda, I promised this series awhile ago; knowing Abba was stirring my “pot” about it. As usual my timing was not His, indeed, I wondered if He was going to have me blog about this at all! Yet here it is. To God be the glory!***

Matthew 6:9-13 – Yeshua (Jesus) speaking…

You, therefore, pray like this:

‘Our Father in heaven!
May Your Name be kept holy.
May Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us the food we need today.
Forgive us what we have done wrong, as we too have forgiven those who have wronged us.
And do not lead us into hard testing, but keep us safe from the Evil One.
For Your Kingship, Power, and Glory are Yours forever.  Amen’

Luke 11:2 – Yeshua speaking…

He said to them, “When you pray, say:

Father
May Your Name be kept holy.
May Your Kingdom come.
Give us each day the food we need.
Forgive us our sins, for we too forgive everyone who has wronged us.
And do not lead us to hard testing.‘”

There is not a more controversial subject in all of those who follow Yeshua (Jesus) than the highlighted words above. First one must ask the Father to send His Spirit on a mission to open our ears to the meaning and intention that formed these words at the heart of Christ as He taught them.

We are addressing God, the Father.
Asking for His will, stating with agreement that His will is our desire. The words ‘do not lead us into hard testing’ suggest that perhaps He does. Why ask for Him not to do something He would never do? Unless…unless He does, indeed. Yeshua said many things that seemed contadictive, but only to those who stay focused on what the flesh reads on the surface. All of Gods words need the Spirit to interpret and lead us to the language of God’s heart. Which holds deeper meaning and more clarity than any human being could possibly come up with.

It can NOT be over-stated that any language other than the original stands to lose something in translation. Here’s where I may “rub up” against so many scholars sensibilities. HEBREW is THE ORIGINAL LANGUAGE, first spoken by GOD to man, back in Genesis in the Garden. This is one reason why Yeshua (Jesus) was sent to the Hebrew culture, to learn His first words in Hebrew. Any other language stands the risk of misinterpretation. Greek is no exception, for from it many other languages have flowed including English. Paul, a HEBREW and Hebrew speaker, learned Greek as a second language, and labored hard to translate Hebrew to Greek; often expressing the hardship of doing so. What does this have to do with the above verses?? Because the famously misinterpreted scripture in James and in Matthew, has unpacked the Power of the Father as spoken of by Yeshua in what we call the Lords Prayer.

James 1:13
No one tempted should say, “I am being tempted by God.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, and God Himself tempts no one.

Mind you, the word tempt in James is accurate. So is the word test in Matthew and Luke above. Yet, many a translation has put temptation in where testing is the more accurate word in the Lords Prayer.

Tempting is translated in Hebrew not by one word but a concept conveyed by many words. The best definition would be baiting or inciting.

Testing likewise is not simply translated in Hebrew. God does test, but does not tempt. He does instigate, motivate, train. The very heart of using evil for good. Always saying like in Job to the devil “Do your best.” All the while knowing his (the devil) “best” can’t, won’t and never shall ever subdue HIS (God’s).

One must only read on in James 1 to see the difference.

James 1:14-16
Rather, each person is being tempted whenever he is being dragged off and enticed by the bait of his OWN DESIRE. Then, having conceived, the desire gives birth to sin; and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death. Don’t delude yourselves, my dear brothers.

Temptation is far into the stages of conception, where our will is desirous of something not Gods will. Of which, having been given into, leads to a “death”, but not an unprofitable death! For anything that leads to the death of our seeing benefit to our will over Gods, has Kingdom potential to bring Life. Remember God is the expert at bringing Life out of death! Indeed one could say this is His M.O.! (Method of Operation)

Lets look at the complete confirmation of this important truth in Yeshua’s own human walk.

Matthew 4:1
Then the Spirit led Yeshua up into the wilderness to be tempted by the Adversary.

The correct word should read tested not tempted. The Spirit led Yeshua to be tested. Just like Yeshua suggested the Father does in the Lords Prayer. Tested not tempted. Hence why I am so pressed to be clear, that if you want to know God and His meanings, His heart, behind the words, you must find the Hebrew interpretation of the words. The Evil One tempts, God tests. The Evil One tries to use our weakness for evil, the Father knows He will be our strength, whether we give into temptation or “pass the test”. His glory alone, will be the glory. His Will, alone is being done, always. Yeshua is saying we must trust this, agree with it, and give glory where its due, not to us, but our Father, who keeps His Name holy.

Pay attention to how careful James was to distinguish tempt from test in this verse. And see how he, in the Spirit, pulls the entire prayer Yeshua taught into it.

James 1:2-6
Regard it all as joy, my brothers, when you face various kinds of temptations; for you know that the testing of your trust produces perseverance. But let perseverance do its work; so that you may be complete and whole, lacking nothing. Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all generously and without reproach; and it will be given to him. But let him ask in trust, doubting nothing; for the doubter is like a wave in the sea being tossed and driven by the wind.

Yes, the Father aids and abbeds our coming to “death”, but His testing produces LIFE. His will hardened Pharaoh’s heart, blinded many an eye, deafens many an ear…but ALWAYS His will is being done for the best. God is not some imp sitting around watching evil wills subdue His will. This is utter blasphemy! If God created everything, then who created the Evil One?? You can’t “get around” this point. Too many people simply cannot understand that God, Himself made Satan, and He so made him to be evil perfected, that we may know the pure goodness of God. It makes no sense to us as humans, but it is not important that so many things “make sense” to us, just that we trust the only One capable of making sense of evil. We are never asked to do this, just to trust the One who does.
Trust what He said, that He will make all things right and good; we just need to believe Him.

There is one very long and detailed prayer Yeshua prayed in John, chapter 17. The entire chapter was His prayer for all man-kind just prior to His walk into the ultimate Will of His Father…His death and resurrection. Listen to one part…

John 17:15
I don’t ask You (the Father) to take them (the Chosen) out of the world (full of temptation), but to protect them from the Evil One.

Sound familiar? but keep us safe from the Evil One.
We to often think safety is being kept out of “harms way”. This is a human concept, not God’s. Obviously, because we are most definitely here, in “harms way” in a matter of speaking. Then safety must mean something other than we naturally tend to make sense of it. For from our perspective God should never have put Adam and Eve in a garden with the Evil One; thereby “keeping them out of harms way”. Yet there He put them, there He put the Evil One and there His will was done. The safety being spoken of in John and Matthew is that we are being kept in His Will! And we always are, even when our own will’s yield to temptation. God provides the sacrifice, solution, and protection to His entire creation. He made it, and He IS protecting and perfecting it. The testing is part of His purpose. We are encouraged to ask that we not be put to hard testing, but not no testing. Growth does not happen without resistance.

There is so much to see and learn about God, the Father in this prayer. I am unsure how many “parts” to this series there will be. That they could go on to infinity, there’s no doubt, for the Father is infinity beyond this prayer and the words I am capable of. He is the subject of Life, we will never graduate from. Likely why eternal Life is crucial to any who desire to know Him :-).

Man dreams and desires; God broods and wills and quickens.  ~ George MacDonald

I begin to understand how complex and mysterious the call forth to a certain task by Adonai (the Lord) can be with each passing day. I am grateful I only live one at a time! For so very long my heart has cried out, “Come soon Lord!” That as I prayed today and the words were different, I stood “agape” at the change. Though I still look for Him, with a passion that keeps the lamps filled; today I see two things a bit clearer.

1) I am not looking for Him as if He’s not here already.

2) I find a “waiting” hidden inside that encapsulates a “mission”. Daunting in its largeness, and profound in that He would give it to me! No worthiness on my part has sanctioned its commission!

I would love to expound on the nature in detail of this call…but alas He “zips my lips” in giving a detailed description. Lets just say I am flabbergasted to find an arena someone hasn’t covered in the simplest and most important aspect of walking with God! With all the resources out there and years of accumulations to them; this seems nearly impossible to me. Add to that, I can think of no less than a hundred others that are or would have been both “more qualified and more “listenable””! Of whom I feel His “audience” would both be broader and more inclined to heed. I find myself, more than once a day saying, “Ya sure Ya want me to do this!?”  Mind you, this is how I learn to question Him and He teaches me the answers in new ways each day. He calls, He qualifies, He does ALL the work and can use anybody He wants, but wills that it be me!

As I look at those He has called and commissioned before me, I realize a great deal more the inner “comings and goings” at Yeshua’s feet. How important a more private and out of the “lime-light” He needs His child to be at times. Seemingly hidden and un-noteworthy to a world with eyes that stage a worthy show in smoke and flashes, loud music and dancing…bent for…entertainment. I am grateful the timing is His, the effect is His, and most especially the result.

I hear, I obey. That is so preciously simple…and likely…if I stick close to Him 🙂

I look forward each day to how He will lead me! What new color He will introduce to a canvas of a dream I didn’t even know I had! Indeed it was there all the time, but my dreams and desires without His will and quickening didn’t even scratch the surface of the impossible we are each called to believe in! Every single tiny thought and idea He gives feeds the larger picture; a picture I can’t even see all of but I know its there! There, you see I am unable to find the words to describe it effectively, but there again I know some will know exactly what I am “saying”. This is the whole sale beauty of living in the Kingdom of His will! The riches are so far removed from what this world considers valuable! There’s no doubt that as Emily Dickenson wrote (one of my favorite quotes)
“I dwell in possibility.”
Yet at the same time I dwell in Impossibility! Only in God and God alone can two polar opposites exist in the same flux of a soul!

This passage from Ezekiel comes ALIVE to me!

Ezekiel 16:8-14

Again I passed by you, looked at you and saw that your time had come, the time for love. So I spread my cloak over you to cover your private parts and entered into a covenant with you, says Adonai Elohim, and you became Mine. Then I bathed you in water, washed the blood off you, and anointed you with oil. I also clothed you with an embroidered gown, gave you fine leather sandals to wear, put a fine linen headband on your head and covered you with silk. I gave you jewelry to wear, bracelets for your hands, a necklace for your neck, a ring for your nose, earrings for your ears and a beautiful crown for your head. Thus you were decked out in gold and silver; your clothing was of fine linen, silk and richly embroidered cloth; you ate the finest flour, honey and olive oil. You grew increasingly beautiful – you were fit to be queen. Your fame spread among the nations because of your beauty, because it was perfect, due to My having bestowed My own splendor on you, says Adonai Elohim.

May it be as You will my God! Though I care not a wit about fame, or even beauty as such as this world would recognize, but oh how I desire that YOU become famous and seen as beauty incomparable to anything we have ever known! Be glorified my King, You who burns in the bushes of Truth! Light the fire again my Light and Salvation! LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!
