Winter

Frosty breath

Crisp blue skies

The hush of winter lullabyes

Drawing down to warmer protective interiors

Where Adonai reigns supreme

The season of rest

His ruling breath

O coat my soul

With Your fire

Color this inner chamber

With Your desire

Plant the permanent flowers of peace

That no earthly changes can cease

Shelter me in Your radiant will

And teach me the wisdom

Of Peace, be still.

(2017- by Lisa VanValkenburgh)

 Isaiah 55:8-13

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways,” says Adonai. “As high as the sky is above the earth are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. For just as rain and snow fall from the sky and do not return there, but water the earth, causing it to bud and produce, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so is My Word that goes out from My mouth – it will not return to Me unfulfilled; but it will accomplish what I intend, and cause to succeed what I sent it to do.”

Yes, you will go out with joy, you will be led forth in peace. As you come, the mountains and hills will burst into song, and all the trees in the countryside will clap their hands. Cypresses will grow in place of thorns, Myrtle will grow instead of briars. This will bring fame to Adonai as an eternal sign, imperishable sign.

Job 37:5-7;9-13

God thunders wonderfully with His voice, He does great things beyond our understanding. He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth!’ – likewise to the light rain, also to the downpour. He brings all human activity to a stop, so that everyone He has made can know it.

Out of its chamber comes the storm, with cold out of the north. By the breath of God, ice is given and wide waters freeze over. He weighs the clouds down with moisture, and they flash forth His lightning. He, by His plans, turns them around, so they do what He commands them anywhere on earth; He brings them forth on the earth sometimes to punish, sometimes to express His grace.

✡ May the season of rest and shalom be richly poured out into you by the power of Yeshua the Messiah, and for His namesake! ✡

Word-in Study

February 8, 2016 at 11:29 am (Mile Stones, Remodeling the Mind, Thoughts to Ponder) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

It is one of my greatest joys to study the Word of God. Indeed the substance of it is found in the study. It’s powerful, on the surface, but we come to know that power from within when we put our fingers into it – like soil, dig around, smell it and take in the endless wonder it is – when we study. In the Hebrew is where we find the context to all the symbolism in the Bible. When studying the Old Testament, the Hebrew is the primary dig for meaning. This is true for the New, but it has the flair of Greek to run along side it. Yet when reading Revelation one cannot escape the profound importance of the Hebrew, since it is full of the Hebraic symbolism that eliminates so very much misinterpretation. In Hebrew God is communicating to a finite people in the finite world He placed them in. So He uses His language to form solidarity in everything they could see, touch, smell and observe. Everything means something to God. It’s our delightful (hopefully) duty to to find out each nuance of its meaning. There are two words in the above scripture that are full of huge significance in their meaning. Here is the symbolic meaning to those words.

♡♡ I will almond-tree it (shaked), i.e. I will be upon them speedily, in a short time, and suddenly, ere they are aware; or, I will watch, and be ready to accomplish (shoked) this in due time. ♡♡

You see back then there were no climatologist, weather forecasters, almanacs, and the like. People watched closely the landscape and it’s signals for the changing seasons. The almond tree was the first to begin to awaken in the Spring. Spring time is the season where all things reawaken from a cold and seemingly suppressed or dead time. The landscapes in winter look barren and dying. Then spring comes and everything begins to prove that God works especially and powerfully as much below the surface as He does where we can see. There’s alot going on in the sapping down of the trees, the soil. The elements of earth are tended to in the winter. Most of the year we see the tending up on the surface. Winter is faith/trust season. Where God works deeply where none can see, deep down.

The season here for Jeremiah was significantly detailed to him and his call. Yet, it carries over to us in this time as well. Here is where we begin to be watchful for all the Lord has done in the underlying surfaces of our hearts. It comes with the promise given in various ways, God is watchful to fulfill His Word and purposes in the world and in us individually (Is.55:11). He is with us in all seasons (Matt. 28:20), He will accomplish what He has set out to do (Phil. 1:6). Spring is the season of HOPE!

Are we watching? Are we waiting with hopeful antisipation for the Lord and all He is and will do, both in the larger picture and in us? It’s only obvious to say, when God is watchful, we must join Him. He is watchful at all seasons, but Spring is significant to Him for this particular watchfulness (fulfillment). Our God delights to reveal Himself to us. We can only be unified in such delight when we join Him in what He is doing. The world (as in its business, it’s habits) distracts us. The earth joins Him without fail.

I don’t have almond trees where I live, but I watch with full antisipation for the buds and blooms at this time of year. Watching for His promise of new life, and life that is being renewed after a season of cold and seeming dormancy. Winter is the season of waiting, forced inside unlike the rest of the year, to live. God works the earth alone in winter, He doesn’t require our help. The wonders of what He alone can do is powerfully displayed in Spring.

This winter taught huge lessons about waiting for us this year. We wait still. Watching, watching for the fruit of this work to give its blossom. Not yet seen, but soon! Just like His return! Being watchful, and ready is springs call upon us! Answer the call!

Harkening Winter Storm

February 22, 2015 at 11:41 am (Poems) (, , , , , )

Crispy cold this February morn
The light comes down in little flowers, cloud born
They fall and stack upon the ground
Ancient wisdom, liquid sound
Your Holy hands keep safe and warm
Through the harkening winter storm

I let the flake float down and land
Upon my nose like Your kiss so grand
And all my heart rises up to You
Creator of snow, Creator of dew

Tis Your amazing Love piled everywhere
I sit and ponder and simply stare
At the soft heavenly wakening
Sent down to hold
Our second chances within the fold

Dive deep down in me
Crystallize Your love
Making rainbows refract down from above
Pulling earthly gazes back up to You
Even if we can’t reckon You through and through

I hear the message loud and clear
Sent to my eyes though they can’t “hear”
White as snow, so clean and pure”
“I’ve made you all, I woo, I call, I allure “

Singing softly the snow sweeps down
Reminding us all the fall has found
A sacred place within Your will
Nothing falls outside Your will

So lean your head out and let it take
In all the cold and crispy flakes
Don’t cover up or shelter yourself
Tis His anointing favor, His heavenly wealth

Crispy cold this February morn
The light comes down in little flowers, cloud born
They fall and stack upon the ground
Ancient wisdom, liquid sound
Your Holy hands keep safe and warm
Through the harkening winter storm
