Psalms 119:25-32
I lie prostrate in the dust;
Revive me, in keeping with Your Word.
I told You of my ways, and You answered me; teach me Your laws
Make me understand the way of Your precepts, and I will meditate on Your wonders.
I am melting away from anxiety and grief; renew my strength, in keeping with Your Word.

Keep deceitful ways far from me, and favor me with Your Torah (the Law).
I choose the way of trust; I set Your rulings before me.
I cling to Your instruction; Adonai, don’t let me be put to shame!
I will run the way of Your mitzvot (commands/instruction), for You have broadened my understanding.

Hebrew letter/English – Dalet/D
Number – 4
Words that connect meaning by both:
Idea, information, move, hang, entrance, earth, division, one thing with 3 functions, door, foot

Interesting to note that the first 4 verses are “directionally” man to God. Starting with the mentioning of dust (earth). Also that the various ways of saying instructions or Torah is said 4 times in the first 4 verses.
In the second 4 verses, it changes “directionally” God to man. He alone keeps us from deceit, favors us, gives us the will to choose, keeps us from shame, sets His rulings before us, broadens our understanding. Also the various ways of saying Torah/commands/Law; are mentioned 4 times in the second half of this section.

I have bolded the words that all connect to what you learn in the following links for the Letter and Number. Enjoy!

What was the ORIGINAL written language of the New Testament?

October 25, 2012 at 2:40 am (The Shepherd's Words) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

image

Below is the 1st part of this series. Well worth your time. It did not take me long to realize why Adonai (the Lord) had so directed my path “into a Jewish persuasion” throughout my life.

Example:
At a young age my mother had Jewish decor about the house.
Her favorite movies were; Hiding Place, Fiddler on the Roof.
At the age of 15, we started attending a Messianic Jewish Congregation which is a Jewish Church that believes that Yeshua (Jesus) is the prophesied Messiah in the Torah (Law) or Old Testament. Orthodox Judaism is Jews who are still waiting for the Messiah as they do not believe Yeshua is the Messiah. Though most Orthodox Jews do not practice Torah (the Law) or the book of Moses any more. Hence they no longer sacrifice animals to atone for their sin.

As I became more and more invested in my own study of the Word of God (Bible), I quickly started to study the Hebrew/Greek words and their meanings. A common Bible study companion is a Concordance; which is where one tends to be introduced to the fact that English is a baby language and can be quite hindering in understanding what some words translated into English in the Bible mean. I “stumbled” onto Jeff Benner’s Youtube channel during this time. I found his videos so very helpful in understanding the Hebrew/Greek phenomenon. They are so easy to understand without actually attempting to learn to speak and read Hebrew.

Coincidence? No.
I believe it is so important for people who say they believe in the Word of God as the Truth and Yeshua (Jesus) as their Savior to understand why God made a Jewish nation, why He sent His Son through it (He’s God after all, He could have used the Roman nation or any other gentile nation), and if He spoke Hebrew, what is the difference in how that Bible one believes in, as the end and beginning of all truth, can be read from a Hebraic point of view. Does it change the basic message? No. God has been exact and faithful that ANY language it can be read in will introduce Himself to the seeker.
Yet to “study to show oneself approved” yields a huge reward in the depth of their knowing Him better.

Most of my life the “believers” I have known have at best only wanted to know about God/Yeshua, but not really know Him. The whole concept of going ” down the Jewish ‘road'” to study and follow Him has shocked me in their aversion to it. The attitude of “its not nessassary” is the prevailing wind. Much equivalent to the same attitude about reading the Bible daily as a source of absolute need; is today. I speak without judgement here, as I myself, was once the same. Life is demanding, who has time to study the Bible everyday? Not many, especially with children and work and activities, puh…most people don’t have time to sleep.

Why do I give this “press” time then? Simple. The luxuries we have today as a means to squeeze in a little “come speak to me, Lord” time is without a doubt overwhelming!
Have a smart phone? Oh, dear fellow-sheep, use it!! Listen to a teaching while you drive, watch a quick video just before bed! The resources at our disposal leaves us all quite without excuses! God’s command that we love Him with all our hearts, minds, souls, and resources is not impossible or even that hard now! Make the time, it is a matter of life and death. Oh, not physically maybe but then if you say you believe what Yeshua (Jesus) said and did is where your Life is; then you understand the physical is the least important aspect of Life. Make your “smart-phone” wise! Your computer capable of truly computing! If you live in a free country like America make use of the freedoms and luxuries we have to honor God in all we do! For those of us who have had such resources and luxuries, we will be much more without excuse one day. And its fast approaching!

What is the difference between the languages of God/Yeshua and English? Can it really make a difference in knowing Him? Its up to you to find out. I pray you do. It has made a huge difference in my walk with Him.

This is a six part series, each video is about 6 to 12 minutes long. All of his videos are short and open a wealth of knowledge and renewed understanding in our Shepherd, Yeshua. We take more time to read an email than it often takes to watch one of these videos. Make your computers, smart phones, and other tools for life, really seek The Life, use them instead of them using you!

If you seek Me, you shall find Me!
These words spoken by Adonai in the Old and Yeshua in the New Testament, these are a promise He keeps. Test it, see if its not true.

Oh the depth of riches one can find in seeking the Lord of Life! I pray He blesses your every little effort to do so, and mine!

George MacDonald

It cannot have escaped anyone’s notice that Brother MacDonald has shown up in almost every area of my public view; my Blog, my Facebook, in my hands as books, and in my speaking. It is not because I consider him above my Lord. Just that without a doubt he sat with Him often and if Yeshua (Jesus) ever had a Commentary, I believe he gave it to MacDonald. That’s a huge thing to say, I know. Yet its the best way I know of to “paint the picture” if you will.

I “met” George MacDonald through another author, Michael Phillips. Brother Phillips has made it a passion to bring back so many of George’s books in his lifetime. I cannot begin to thank Brother Phillips for the undertaking! Many of my favorite Authors have quoted MacDonald too. C.S. Lewis was also a huge friend of his work, going so far as to say he regarded MacDonald as his “master” in relation to his writing. Lewis also leaves no room for doubt that through Brother MacDonald’s writing he came to the feet of his Savior, Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah. George has never failed to show up in quotes in EVERY one of my favorite author’s books, pastor’s sermons, and even “unbeliever’s” works in deep thinking and philosophy. George would not, of course, be delighted to be thought of as a philosopher. He considered himself a poet first, author last, but would loath to be found under the heading theological or philosophy. The “head cannot keep up with the hearts pursuit of its Maker” would be Brother MacDonald’s chief response to such classifying. That Brother MacDonald was highly intelligent and could sit with the best of intellectuals is not disputable. Though he would make them feel small at heart by the churning of the mind. Much as Yeshua (Jesus) did and does. 🙂

I have found no error in his writings as they reflect and bring to life the very written Word of God. My guess is that even now Brother Paul who wrote so much of the New Testament and Brother MacDonald take long walks discussing the mind verses heart, works verses faith (trust), and belief verses obedience. All the while, like those men on the road to Emmaus, Yeshua, Himself walks along with them.

If, like so much of Brother MacDonald’s style in fiction writing, I could have a brother “interpret” or narrate my daily goings and comings; I would without hesitation choose him. Him, being my second choice, as Yeshua, Himself, and no other will suit me! But given the choice of another human being such as myself (fallen yet saved by the Shepherd Yeshua), Brother George would be my choice.

I know many great authors and men of God. I say without hesitation, I don’t own a “bad” book. All of which would do as a replacement to MacDonald, but chiefly I say his are the most irreplaceable! To be clear; if some crisis were to send me fleeing from my house, my Bible would be the most important book in urgency in my mind to “grab”. In no way would ANY other book or it author take precedence over the Book of Life!

A very respected author and pastor I frequently “sit with” once said “Scripture is no longer being written”. For which, I will say “I emphatically do not agree!” Going so far as to say that every author of every book on “my shelves” has been inspired by the same Spirit that wrote the very Scriptures. That “God has not decided to include them” is mans opinion. Since it was man who decided what to call the Bible or not. Though I do not believe ANYONE but God has/had the final say! God will not suffer man to be in charge of His Word!

If the God of the universe is speaking in a flower, bird, tree, or person, He is speaking still from every avenue and in every “audible” good to be found! He will never be anything but found! If the heart of His creature is truly seeking Him, that is!

George MacDonald books can be found today, thanks in large part to God through authors that still reflect his works. Though they can be very hard to acquire. I found one of his priceless children’s book’s at a used book store for $10, the same book is being sold through Amazon for upwards of $600. Michael Phillips in partner with Bethany House Publishers has made his books quite accessible. I will say if you pick up a George MacDonald book, you will: have made a friend, chew each word as if you have never read one, and want more than anything to know Yeshua (Jesus) in the same way he did! What better legacy can one who lives, walks, writes, paints, ….breathes, what better can one leave than the Carpenter’s invitation to “Come, follow Me”?

Brother MacDonald has an open invitation to post on this blog. I pray his legacy be found within those postings…that you and I will hear, see, touch, and smell the fragrance of the Spirit that inspired his work. This Yeshua, Jesus, Son of the Father who delights to take us ever closer to Him and whose work is to unite us to Him!

There is no book I would exclude from recommending one read either written by George MacDonald or about. I cannot say this about any other author I have ever encountered. As Daniel in the Bible, I have not found any ill or disreputable thing written about him. Even C.S. Lewis had his critics! Sadly Yeshua Himself, has been written in more contradiction than any one who has ever walked the face of the earth! And by many who call themselves His child! You will find the real Yeshua in MacDonald’s work, 100% of the time. Only the Word of God can boast such a statement, hence why I have taken the time to write this recommendation and reason for this Brother’s work showing up in every crack and surface of the clay pot of my own writing. I am but one very small voice that shouts his work. It is no consequence that I do. As always, the burden of “proof” lies within your own experience. I pray you will give MacDonald “a go” and see if my praise rings more highly than it should :-).

Where the Heart Is? ~ Part 2

May 30, 2011 at 2:59 am (WSGD Newes) (, , , , , , , )

Where the Heart Is?

Part 2

Remember where we left off? Asking God to show us where our minds perhaps “take over” the heart? I think that “going there” is the most challenging and often most avoided aspect of our walk with our Shepherd. For if the heart is all those things that our look into the meaning of that word is…well it can be over-whelming to say the least! In fact – I was a bug-eyed doe with my jaw on the floor when He told me what He wanted me to write about next! “Really Lord?? How can I even begin to write about the heart? No one knows it but You!” His answer??

“Well then Child, perhaps you’ll have to just write down what I say?” (Sensing His smile…)

Oh yeah, it’s not about me!!

At the beginning of Part 1 – we focused a bit on the physical heart. Remember the most important component? Blood. In Hebrew the word blood is – dam – and is first used in Genesis 9:4 – blood is synonymous with life. In Greek its – haima – and is the same as the Hebrew word dam. The heart can not function without blood, and just any ole blood won’t do. We all know that we all have a specific type of blood. Type O is the only blood type that can be donated to any blood type. Why would this be important in looking at the heart mentioned almost 900 times in the Bible? Well, lets see…

Leviticus 17:11

For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for yourselves; for it is the blood that makes atonement because of the life.

**A note about atonement: The word – cover – in Hebrew is  – kaphar – means “to cover over” but is often translated as atonement. The word atonement is an abstract word and in order to understand the true Hebrew meaning (which is the language Jesus, Yeshua, used) we must look to the concrete meaning. If an offense has been made, the one that has been offended can act as though the offense is covered over and unseen. We express this idea through the word of forgiveness. Atonement is an outward action that covers over the error. (Ancient Hebrew Dictionary by Jeff A. Benner)

Exodus 12:13 – God speaking – emphasis mine

“The blood will serve you as a sign marking the houses where you are, when I see the blood, I will pass-over you – when I strike the land of Egypt. The death blow will not strike you.”

John 6:53-57 – Jesus speaking – emphasis mine

Then Yeshua (Jesus) said to them, “Yes, indeed! I tell you that unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life in yourselves. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life – that is, I will raise him up on the Last Day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I live in him. Just as the living Father sent me, and I live through the Father, so also whoever eats me will live through me.”

Notice verse 60

On hearing it, many of his talmidim (disciples) said, “This is a hard word – who can bear to listen to it?”

Ephesians 1:7

In union with him, through the shedding of his blood, we are set free – our sins are forgiven; this accords with the wealth of the grace he has lavished on us.

Hebrews 9:12, 22

…he entered the Holiest Place once and for all. And he entered not by means of the blood of goats and calves, but by means of his own blood, thus setting people free forever.

In fact, according to the Torah (Law), almost everything is purified with blood; indeed, without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

So now we see – that the heart mentioned in the Bible – our center – our home of trust – is as dependant upon blood as our tickers. 🙂 No blood, no beat, no breath, no life. The blood of the Lamb now covers us and death will pass-over where we are! In our hearts is where we are to live (see John 6:53-57 reference). I believe the blood that pumps through our hearts is the Word both in our Bibles and spoken by our very much alive, very much active Voice of our Shepherd whose blood it is that was shed for us all. The drinking of that blood – is the allowing Him to change our hearts with it, the transfusion – donation of His blood for our own. The Ultimate type O of the soul!

I said earlier that centering on our hearts is the most challenging and often avoided thing we do. Remember verse 60 of John 6? They felt this way too! Thinking of a physical eating and drinking of Yeshua’s flesh (the Word) and Blood (Living water) was mind boggling! Read this chapter in its entirety – the gift we are given to translate the physical into the spiritual is spoken of. The gift was given for our HEARTS alone!

God speaks in the language of the heart. If we are to hear Him – we must learn this language…Amen?

Where the Heart Is? Part 3 coming soon! 🙂
