Unstaggering Trustfulness
February 27

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. (Psalm 112:7)

Suspense is dreadful. When we have no news from home, we are apt to grow anxious, and we cannot be persuaded that “no news is good news.” Faith is the cure for this condition of sadness; the Lord by His Spirit settles the mind in holy serenity, and all fear is gone as to the future as well as the present.
The fixedness of heart spoken of by the psalmist is to be diligently sought after. It is not believing this or that promise of the Lord, but the general condition of unstaggering trustfulness in our God, the confidence which we have in Him that He will neither do us ill Himself nor suffer anyone else to harm us. This constant confidence meets the unknown as well as the known of life. Let the morrow be what it may, our God is the God of tomorrow. Whatever events may have happened, which to us are unknown, our Jehovah is God of the unknown as well as of the known. We are determined to trust the Lord, come what may. If the very worst should happen, our God is still the greatest and best. Therefore will we not fear though the postman’s knock should startle us or a telegram wake us at midnight. The Lord liveth, and what can His children fear?

Truth Established (Spurgeon’s Faith’s Checkbook)

Truth Established
February 26

The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment. (Proverbs 12:19)

Truth wears well. Time tests it, but it right well endures the trial. If then, I have spoken the truth and have for the present to suffer for it, I must be content to wait. If also I believe the truth of God and endeavor to declare it, I may meet with much opposition, but I need not fear, for ultimately the truth must prevail.
What a poor thing is the temporary triumph of falsehood! “A lying lip is but for a moment!” It is a mere gourd which comes up in a night and perishes in a night; and the greater its development the more manifest its decay. On the other hand, how worthy of an immortal being is the avowal and defense of that truth which can never change; the everlasting gospel, which is established in the immutable truth of an unchanging God! An old proverb saith, “He that speaks truth shames the devil.” Assuredly he that speaks the truth of God will put to shame all the devils in hell and confound all the seed of the serpent which now hiss out their falsehoods.
O my heart, take care that thou be in all things on the side of truth, both in small things and great; but specially, on the side of Him by whom grace and truth have come among men!

Contentment

February 26, 2012 at 12:40 pm (Remodeling the Mind)

From the devotional, Highroad of Surrender by Frances J. Roberts

Psalm 34:19
Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivereth him out of them all

Be patient in tribulation and I will minister My grace to you and your heart will rejoice. For when outter blessings are withheld, inner peace is deepened, for the soul turns to worship with less distraction.
Disappointment is foreign to the Spirit, for it has no part in faith. The trusting soul possesses all things in Christ and looks not to others for blessing: therefore he can never be disappointed. Joy and contentment crown his head, and peace reigns in his heart.

How does a Heart get Built?

February 22, 2012 at 1:58 am (WSGD Newes)

In this case the Word speaks for itself.

Proverbs 24:3-4
By wisdom a house is built, by understanding it is made secure, and by knowledge its rooms are filled with all kinds of costly and pleasant possessions.

So what is the house here? Is it a structure with bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms?

1st Corinthians 3:9, 16-17
For we are God’s co-workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
Don’t you know that you people are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? So if anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you yourselves ARE that temple.

Ephesians 2:20-22
You have been built on the foundation of the emissaries and the prophets, with the cornerstone being Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) Himself. In union with Him the whole building is held together, and it is growing into a holy temple in union with the Lord. Yes, in union with Him, you yourselves are being built together into a spiritual dwelling-place for God!

1st Peter 2:5
You yourselves, as living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be cohanim (priest) set apart for God to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to Him through Yeshua the Messiah.

2nd Corinthians 6:16
What agreement can there be between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God – as God said,
“I will house Myself in them…and I will walk among you. I will be their God, and they will be My people.”

So back to Proverbs 24:3-4. Where does one go to get wisdom, understanding, and knowledge?

Proverbs 2:6-11
For Adonai (the Lord) gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He stores up common sense for the upright, is a shield to those whose conduct is blameless, in order to guard the courses of justice and preserve the way of those faithful to Him. Then you will understand righteousness, justice, fairness, and every good path. For wisdom will ENTER YOUR HEART, knowledge will be enjoyable for you, discretion will watch over you and discernment will guard you.

Psalms 127:1
Unless Adonai builds the house, its builders work in vain. Unless Adonai guards the city the guard keeps watch in vain.

Did Yeshua say anything about this?

John 14:23
Yeshua answered him, “If someone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and MAKE OUR HOME WITH him.

THIS is how a heart is built 🙂 Consult the Architect! He starts in our hearts, then builds His family, all with the designs of His Kingdom.

Grace and peace in Yeshua the Messiah 🙂

Mixed Messages

February 18, 2012 at 2:25 am (WSGD Newes)

The message of the Word is NOT – You are lost, believe in Yeshua (Jesus) and you will be saved.
The message of the Spirit of God IS – You are saved, stop living/believing you are lost!

Yeshua never once said, now ask God to forgive you because you’re a sinner, then believe I died for your sins and rose again on the 3rd day, and then you will be saved. Which is to say He never told ANYONE what to say. The keys to our adoption lay in our heart and often have no words.

Lets consider the “infamous” John 3:16
(I mean no offense or diminishment of its importance by saying infamous)
Yeshua speaking…
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only and unique Son, so that everyone who trust in Him may have eternal life, instead of being utterly destroyed”

For the sake of completion I feel its nessessary to continue through to verse 21.

Vs 17-21
“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but rather so that THROUGH Him, the world might be saved. Those who trust in Him are not judged; those who do not trust have been judged already, in that they have not trusted in the one who is God’s only and unique Son. Now, this is judgement: the light has come knto the world, but people loved the darkness rather than the light. Why? Because their actions were wicked. For everyone who does evil things hates the light and avoids it, so that his actions won’t be exposed. But everyone who does what is true comes to the light, so that all may see that his actions are accomplished through God.”

Allow me to enlist a few more examples 🙂
ROMANS 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love for us in that the Messiah died on our behalf WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS?
John 6:39-40
“And this is the will of the One who sent Me: that I should not LOSE any of all those He has given Me but should raise them up on the Last Day.
“Yes, this is the will of My Father: that all who see the Son and trust in Him should have eternal life, and that I should raise them up on the Last Day.”

You see? Noone is lost to God, until the final shofar blow has sounded…He knows exactly where each child He has created is, and “knows their trust buttons”. Since its the trusting in Him that is key…only He can know and see all the facets of trust in each individual heart. Many a human has seemed “trusting”, and yet had no trust at all. Only God knows if we truly trust His Son or not.

The work of Yeshua is, was, and always will be the ushering in of a free Kingdom, found…now the work is to believe everyday, in spite of our failures and errors…that we are SAVED because of what He did. The emphasis is on Salvation, and a Savior who knows each sheep by name, even to the number of hairs on their heads!! – Not a Savior who can’t find His own.

Grace and peace in Yeshua the Messiah 🙂
