The Carpenter

O Lord, at Joseph’s humble bench
Thy hands did handle saw and plane;
Thy hammer nails did drive and clench,
Avoiding knot and humouring grain.

image

That Thou didst seem, Thou wast indeed,
In sport Thy tools Thou didst not use;
Nor, helping hinds or fishers need,
The labourer’s hire, too nice, refuse.

Lord, might I be but as a saw,
A plane, a chisel, in Thy hand!
No, Lord! I take it back in awe,
Such prayer for me is far too grand.

image

I pray, O Master, let me lie,
As on Thy bench the favored wood;
Thy saw, Thy plane, Thy chisel ply,
And work me into something good.

image

No, no; ambition, Holy-high,
Urges for more than both to pray:
Come in, O Gracious Force, I cry –
Or workmen, share my shed of clay.

Then I, at bench, or desk, or oar,
With knife or needle, voice or pen,
As Thou in Nazareth of yore,
Shall do the Father’s will again.

image

This fashioning a workmen rare,
O Master, this shall be Thy fee,
Home to Thy Father Thou shalt bear
Another child made like Thee.

Every Little Movement

For those who feel more now than they ever did before...

Liquid pleasure through my toes
A thread of hair the gentle breeze blows
The softest measure of Your sweet touch
I’m on the hunt for just this much

We take advantage, O God on High
Of the simple pleasure of Your passing by
Canvas making a world unseen
Holding sunlight on witness beams

The stoke of Genius
Forgiveness is
Unmaking bondage
While freedom gives

You art my Maker
Body and soul
Only Your touch
Can make me whole

Come Thou Lover
With Life’s caress
Enlighten my nerves
With nothing less

Than the trust required
To feel Your love
And never take advantage
Of Your precious nudge

Beyond the borders
Of this my frame
Color me in
With Your great Name

The Gift of Repentence!

August 12, 2015 at 10:21 am (Prayers) (, , , , , , , , , , )

image

From one glory to the next, God is shaping me. The glow of His glory cast a shadow over my unruliness, but I must remember that I, myself, have been brought into His Light. In union with the Messiah, I stand upon the precipice with only Him as an anchor. But what an anchor! He who calls the Light to reveal what doesn’t belong in Him, and therefore in me. Sending forth a shadow to highlight where the Spirit given as a gift can put my spiritual hands to the task of taking out the garbage. It’s this gift that changes everything. I, alone, can change none of it. Of myself, should I reach for it with the intent to throw it away without Him, I shall find myself playing with it and desiring to keep it. What a bizarre nature I have apart from Him! Oh, how I praise Him for breaking into my comfort and lighting up the room I often sit in, thinking a light is on. I praise His invasion, intrusion, and intervention!

image

I, repent, O Holy Father, never let me be unbroken over my stubborn heart to call the shots in the life YOU have given me! Cut me off in my futile attempts to paint Your name with a false piety of repentance! Let no untrue motive be allowed to make a home in my heart! For to truly LIVE is to know You, to fellowship with You without interruption! Repentence is the pathway of peace that opens my ears, eyes, and heart to receive You and let You cover me with all that You are! Yeshua, You are the gate I walk through, I acknowledge there’s no other way. Take my hand O Holy Brother, Savior and Friend and show me the way to die that You may live inside me! Take over this vessel and make it straight and unrelenting as You are for the work of the Kingdom of heaven! I have nothing, nothing without You.

The gift of is repentance precious, I set my heart of the pathway to peace. Not for myself, or for my fellow man, though You certainly grace us with these by-products of turning and returning, but that the Glory of the Source, which is You alone, may become known. Truly known, real, alive and full!

Behold what manner of Love the Father has given into us! The power to run from sin and into His arms!

The Voice of God

January 18, 2015 at 12:33 am (Poems) (, , , , , , , , , )

image

Purest sound – sweetest silent crescendo
How supreme You are to me
The splendor of my soul
Love in broken melodies and tones
Shaking my frame – aligning my bones
Break forth a mighty wind
Over, around and all the way in
Breath of Life vibrate my sin
Blow deep into my hollow aching need
Let me cease to pulsate
Allowing You to breathe

Voice of God
Ultimate Beginning
Promise-filled End
Never cease to resonate
Mysteries flow
My mind can never know
But You – alive within
Yes, You know all
So, now I contain You?
How?
This must be the universal question – yes?
But, “How?” Is a human question
Innocent as the dawn
Yes – childlike – open – free
But! Your “Why” is the finish
Because You can!
You delight!
Filling – Breathing – Shining Light
Into the smallest weakest vessel
Bright! Holding weakness inside Your might
Why? How?
There’s only the Now
Now, contains the Who
You – You – I Am!
Present, Now, Forever
Breathe, Speak!

image

Voice of God
My foundation – Staff and Rod
Break in and through
Life-infused gale
Break upon my shores
Loosen the concrete barriers of my mind
Holding captive the song of “Set Free”!
Begin again and afresh!
Oh Beginning Refrain
Speak! And I will be spoken
Rippling Your Image upon the liquid glass of Your soul
See Your Son whole and complete
Despising my shame
Dispensing the sounds of Grace
Clear, pure white hot Sacrifice
Exchanging the souls likeness
Flesh for Spirit
Stars sing and dance this refrain
The Moon reflects this wax and wane
The Kingdom’s Trade
With that which only Your hands have made!

image

Voice of God
A tree offering shade
To the desert traveler – weary
Each step, dehydrated and bleary
Holds Your oasis of Wisdom
Making liquid action of Love
All blistering and bruising made a song
Voice of God – Sing!
Breathe such sweet suffering over me
Let the waters rush to create canyons
Where Your wind has swept them free
Carving waves of Your joy – undiminishible
Wings grow out of stone
To carry me – alighted on Your finger
Like a bird – perched and anchored to Your draw
Up, up, up – beyond the crumbling embers
Of distractions pointing forward and backward
Restlessly desperate to leave the Now
Speak! A Holy Halt!
Time does not exist to You
Instill my boundaries with Your Present!
Fortress my heart in Your hands
Claim me Father!
For I am Yours or I am nothing
Converse with my heart in tones of Forgiveness
Commune my soul in Mercy!
Making all of me Your witness
Your Kingdom come in me
Write Your instruction
Deep and penetrateing
Separating bone from marrow
Yes! Your Wisdom!
But More!
Your power to live it!
These are the drums and bass of Your rhythms
Obedience is a song
A sanctuary – a hiding place
Life pulsates there!
Hold me captive to these shores
Anchor me deep in the abyss of it
Mystery and unknowing
You fully know!
There I will grow
More like Your child instead

image

Voice of God
In the earth and sky
Rock and stone
Air and wind
In my ears and eyes
Heart and mind
Soul and spirit
Show me You and I will cease my striving
Give me all the Sound of You and the sense of Your arriving!
Voice of God
Live in me!

An Oath of Fealty to The King

November 6, 2014 at 11:33 am (Prayers) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

image

I will be a loyal traitor
To all that harkens from evil quarters
All things that turn even ever so slightly from Your Face
Apathy, inconsistency, double-sided degree
Untruthfulness, in any degree of less or more
A solid lie to me
Impurity of myself or any other
My face shall turn away
Degradation of original beauty flung far into the sea

I will be a loyal traitor
To all forms of self assurance
Pride, ambition, possession, importance
These will have my undying fight
Surrendered to You Jesus,
You have turned them into Your might
Self-protection, self-esteem, selfish motives, selfish provision, self-centered thoughts, self-obsessed involvement
Enemies for eternity to me
I thrust my hand upon Your own and anchor this self to Your throne

I will remain a loyal traitor
To ruin and rot of souls
That applaud and cheer of revenge
Of any form, as insult to Your Authority
Any degree of lack of mercy
Any disguise of blame
No exceptions, there is no such thing You can not forgive through me
I will actively reflect Your forgiveness
Absolute cleanness
Feet washed
Robes thrown over rebellious shoulders
Rings given to those who have squandered their inheritance
Feast thrown for the one returning
Simply returning
I will scorn the shame of unrighteousness
I will hold out these hands to the undeserving
I will reflect what You have done for me
By Your grace alone
So say I.

I will be a loyal traitor
To all that binds and traps and corrals
Any in fear instead of love
I will betray this natural flesh
At every turn as You give me eyes to see
I will not give in to empty threats
When You have so promised that I am free

I will slap away gossip and slander
As if they were the deadliest of diseases
I will not join in with any fun made of weakness in a brother or sister in sin
I will evict the garish brutality of man from my thoughts and emotions inside
They will be Your captives forever to slay
So long as You are alive!

I will be a loyal traitor
To the natural flow having been trained in sin
With training my feet to run swift
To You for every reaction and action
My tongue will seek Your Words
My mouth will remain shut until You’ve given them
And submit when You still it
My hands will look for Your movement and quickly join in
My eyes will “listen” and my ears will “see”
Only that which You have given to me
I will rely and have undaunted hope in the Salvation You provide
I will not relent until I see You face to face

I will be a loyal servant
Of Your Kingdom, Your Work, Your Ways
And keep my whole heart, whole mind, whole spirit trained in Your instruction
As You have made them whole and complete
Only Your glory will I seek
So say I

Falling to my knees I lay out
These vows and so swear my fealty to You
Jehovah, Adonai, God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, El’ Elyon, Elohim, First and Last, Son of David, El Shaddai, Shepherd, Teacher, Rabbi, Priest, Bright Morning Star, Yeshua the Messiah, Jesus Christ, Spirit of the Living God, Healer, Sustainer, True and Faithful One, Righteous Judge, Holy One of Israel, Beginning and End.
So say I
Your created, Your Child, Yours Forever
