We pulled around the corner of the Civic Center circle and felt it…

Adonai Elohim had went ahead of us. His presence was inescapable.
We made burritos to hand out to the “homeless”. I say it with ” ” because none of those we met today were homeless, they were at home. We didn’t come out of pity, or to ‘give’ to unfortunates; rather we gave out of the only response of having received so much to be thankful for…God’s filling us with Him!!

image

Lives touched at the end of burritos exchanged with hearts full of level love. No one was below, no one was above, we all stood on the same ground flowing with the same Sun Light, the same breeze blown by the Author of all. We were fed by their smiles, banter and total at ease-ment inside their own full cups. Filled by the same Light. Others had come to do the same, free hair cuts, coats, scarves, mittens, shoes, attire, and food/drink. No one had to “prove” they were “homeless”; the requirement was…needs. Empty stomachs, holey garments, and the willingness to give by receiving. A band played music. Yeshua (Jesus) fed thousands…with the bread given to a few. His presence smiled so wide one could not doubt that another Kingdom had stepped through a hidden door and there we were in its midst. The only exchange was love, it born of gratitude to the King of this Kingdom.

Honestly (without minimizing our thankfulness for family and the many turkey dinners and love exchanged by tradition) this was the most AWESOME Thanksgiving ever! What was, was simply accepted, what was not…was not considered lost…just taken care of by the Father as promised.

image

The exchange of freedom unencumbered by dwellings, things, things, things… moved into our hearts as home. Perspective is everything. All, all things gain a higher perspective with a heart full of gratitude to the Giver of Life. Glory, glory glory to God!! Your Kingdom come, Your Will be done, on earth as it is in heaven…

Banner of Love ~ Marriage Reflections of Yeshua ~ Part 3 ~ B

Genesis 2:24

This is why a man is to leave his father and mother and stick with his wife, and they are to be one flesh.

This scripture is famous. Yet so often read and used without the verse prior, which gives a wealth of context to the ‘this is why’ part at the beginning. Let’s read verse 23.

The man-person said, “At last! This is bone from my bones and flesh from my flesh. She is to be called Woman (Ishah), because she was taken out of man (Ish).

Eve (Havah) was the only woman born of man and God! Every other human being aside from Yeshua (Jesus) has come from a woman’s womb in collusion with another man. Yeshua was born of a woman and God. The unity of God’s plans is simply staggering! He is full of these kinds of turning things back in on themselves; using opposites. And marriage is therefore shown in the very beginning its purposes. That God might be reflected in how He designed human interaction – ANY kind of human relationship, but marriage is special because it represents God’s love, commitment and power in His people.

Marriage usually results in more children. When we His people accept, trust and follow Him, so too, does this result in the adding to the Family of the Kingdom. This is the full goal of the Message we speak of and study. To add to those who are saved by our union with Messiah Yeshua. Now a days, this is not always true for a union between a man and woman; many desire no children. Some, painfully have not been given them. Yet most unions between man and woman sexually results in a child. (Even if there is no “official marriage”) God did not however, design marriage for procreation purposes only! Most of God’s designs have multifaceted purposes! Usually coincidently, in three’s! Marriage is for: procreation – adding to the family; teaching us about God our family Creator; and teaching us about each other – that which He prizes as His most precious Creation. The last two are key, obviously, because He does not always open the wombs of all wives, the third is not absolutely necessary. Marriages can reflect Him and His purposes without the couple having children born of their union. We will explore all the designs later…for now we focus on the unity of marriage as it reflects Adonai and His Bride.

1 Corinthians 11:3

But I want you to understand that the head of every man is the Messiah, and the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of the Messiah is God.

Malachi 2:14-16

Nevertheless you ask, “Why is this?” Because Adonai is witness between you and the wife of your youth that you have broken faith with her, though she is your companion, your wife by covenant.
And hasn’t He made them one flesh? in order to have spiritual blood-relatives?
For what the one flesh seeks is a seed from God. Therefore, take heed to your spirit, and don’t break faith with the wife of your youth. “For I hate divorce,” says Adonai the God of Israel, “and him who covers his clothing with violence.” Says Adonai Tzva’ot (Lord of Sabbath; Lord of Heavens armies, Lord of Host)
Therefore take heed to your spirit and don’t break faith.

1 John 4:11-16

Beloved friends, if this is how God loves us, we likewise ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God remains united with us, and our love for Him has been brought to its goal in us. Here is how we know we remain united with Him and He with us He has given to us from His own Spirit. Moreover, we have seen and we testify that the Father has sent His Son as Deliverer of the world. If someone acknowledges that Yeshua is the Son of God, God remains united with Him and He with God. And we have come to know and trust the love God has for us. God is love; and those who remain in this love remain united with God, and God remains united with them.

Ephesians 5:21-33

Submit to one another in fear of the Messiah. Wives should submit to their husbands as they do to the Lord; because the husband is head of the wife, just as the Messiah, as head of the Messianic Community, is Himself the One who keeps the body safe. Just as the Messianic Community submits to the Messiah, so also wives submit to their husbands in everything.
As for husbands, love your wives, just as the Messiah loves the Messianic Community, indeed gave Himself up on its behalf, in order to set it apart for God, making it clean through immersion in the mikveh (purification), so to speak, in order to present the Messianic Community to Himself as a Bride to be proud of, without a spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but holy and without defect. This is how husbands ought to love their wives – like their own bodies; for the man who loves his wife is loving himself. Why, no one ever hated his own flesh! On the contrary, he feeds it well and takes care of it, just as the Messiah does the Messianic Community, because we are parts of His Body. “Therefore, a man will leave his father and mother and remain with his wife, and the two will become one.” There is profound truth hidden here, which I say concerns the Messiah and the Messianic Community. However, the text also applies to each of you individually; let each man love his wife as he does himself, and see that the wife respects her husband.

Ephesians 2:20-22

In union with Him the whole building is held together and it is growing into a holy Temple in union with the Lord. Yes, in union with Him, you yourselves are being built together into a spiritual dwelling place for God!

Philippians 2:5

Let your attitude toward one another be governed by your being in union with the Messiah Yeshua:

Colossians 2:9-10

For in Him, bodily, lives the fullness of all that God is. And it is in union with Him that you have been made full – He is the head of every rule and authority.

Romans 15:5-6

And may God, the source of encouragement and patience, give you the same attitude among yourselves as the Messiah Yeshua, so that with one accord and with one voice you may glorify God the Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.

Perfection

November 26, 2013 at 10:52 am (Remodeling the Mind)

image

Someone once asked me, “What’s the closest to ‘perfection’ you think a human being can get?”

Answer: Whenever one chooses to forgive.

For the Word of Adonai, Yeshua (Jesus) our Creator and Way said:
Therefore, be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48
These are the last words of a whole chapter describing our Heavenly Father’s Way of forgiveness and love.

There is no more absolutely beautiful thing, completely powerful, and transforming occurrence than when one chooses to receive His forgiveness and give His kind of forgiveness to another. The whole Kingdom of God is moved in this choice. This choice is what makes mankind FREE!

Romans 6:2-11

…Heaven forbid! How can we, who have died to sin, still live in it? Don’t you know that those of us who have been immersed into the Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus) have been immersed into His death? Through immersion into His death we were buried with Him; so that just as, through the glory of the Father, the Messiah was raised from the dead, likewise we too might live a new life. For if we have been united with Him in a death like His, we will also be united with Him in a resurrection like His. We know that our old self was put to death on the execution-stake with Him, so that the entire body of our sinful propensities might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin. For someone who has died has been cleared from sin. Now since we died with the Messiah, we trust that we will also live with Him. We know that Messiah has been raised from the dead, never to die again; death has no authority over Him. For His death was a unique event that need not be repeated; but His life, He keeps on living for God. In the same way, consider yourselves to be dead to sin but alive for God, by your union with the Messiah Yeshua.

Ephesians 2:6; 16

That is, God raised us up with the Messiah Yeshua and seated us with Him in heaven,

…in order to reconcile to God both in a single body by being executed on a stake as a criminal and thus in Himself killing that enmity.

1 Corinthians 15:22

For just as in connection with Adam all die, so in connection with the Messiah all will be made alive.

2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Therefore, if anyone is united with the Messiah, he is a new creation – the old has passed; look, what has come is fresh and new! And it is all from God, who through the Messiah has reconciled us to Himself and has given us the work of that reconciliation, which is that God in the Messiah was reconciling mankind to Himself, not counting their sins against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors of the Messiah; in effect, God is making His appeal through us. What we do is appeal on behalf of the Messiah, “Be reconciled to God!” God made this sinless Man be a sin offering on our behalf, so that in union with Him we might fully share in God’s righteousness.

1 Peter 3:18

For the Messiah Himself died for sins, once and for all, a Righteous Person on behalf of unrighteous people, so that He might bring you to God. He was put to death in the flesh but brought to life by the Spirit.

Luke 9:23-24 ~ Yeshua speaking…

Then to everyone He said, “If anyone wants to come after Me, let him say ‘No’ to himself, take us his execution-stake daily and keep following Me. For whoever tries to save his own life will destroy it, but whoever destroys his life on My account, will save it.

Philippians 1:21; 2:5

For to me, life is the Messiah and death is gain.

Let your attitude toward one another be governed by your being in union with the Messiah Yeshua.

Colossians 3:1-3

So if you were raised along with the Messiah, then seek the things above, where the Messiah is sitting at the right hand of God. Focus your minds on the things above, not on things here on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God.

1 John 2:1-2; 3:5

My children, I am writing you these things so that you won’t sin. But if anyone does sin, we have Yeshua the Messiah, the Tzaddik (Righteous One) who pleads our cause with the Father. Also, He is the kapparah (atonement/accounting) for our sins – and not only for ours, but for those of the whole world.

You know that He appeared in order to take away sins, and that there is no sin in Him.

If you could count how many times a day you get “offended” how often would it be? Offense being anything from annoyed by another’s action or your own…to outright angered. Offense being judgemental of yourself or anyone else. Judgemental being…a type of rendering under your own perspective what is or is not “good” either towards yourself or anyone else. Who has time to attempt this daily accounting??!!

Yet the WHOLE of God’s message lay at the heart of this action. Forgiveness is only possible if God is the ONLY Judge allowed to take up an offense. And what do we know about God in His decision to render Judgement? First that He is the only One who can judge accurately. He see’s the million cuts in the prisms that cause a person to sin, He knows how and why…only He does. Second, He is the only One who can be “fair” or just in rendering His verdict. Third, only God is capable of complete mercy and grace in delegating consequences to us in our sin. Hence why we must let the Messiah Yeshua’s words of instruction be our guide in this department. (Matthew 5; Luke 6:20-49) Our union with Him is the key.

Every sin ever done finds its root in unforgiveness. Offense taking – the taking into ones own hands the judgement that belongs to God alone, whether applied to ourselves or another. The truth is discernment is needed. God gives us the choice to steal from Him the right to judge and feel offended. But He does not, can not and will never give us the right to. He purchased the rights to offense; to sin and all its effects when Yeshua was crucified for them. This act was the final payment on the mortgage of sin; He owns the Deed. The right to take up offense, call out judgement, condemn, criticize, chastise, shun, hurt, reject, or any other means of sins effects belong only to Him. There is a big difference between being given a choice and a right.

Too often we hear people use this phrase: “I have a right to….” It is the worlds biggest LIE! Whatever may fill in the blank to such a statement matters not. We have been given 1, yes 1 right by God. To be called His children. (Matthew 5:44-48; John 1:12; Romans 8:14-16) That right is fully loaded with essentially ones willingness to never feel or think they have a right to anything ever again! It will take a God to move one into this kind of thinking and living, no one can do it but Him.

Let’s look at the Cross. If we want to live it must be our dictator, indicator and directional choice. Yeshua died on the cross. He rose again from the tomb. What’s alive is forgiveness, grace, mercy – with the RISEN Conqueror of sin and every single microscopic effect of it.
What died was offense, its effects, its power; with the Sinless One who paid the price to keep them there – dead – nailed to a tree forever. If you and I live to Messiah we give every single moment of offense over to His work with them – inside where it counts and He lives. If we are dying to the self that would hold offenses we are living in union with His work. We are dead if we think we have rights to offense.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

May the God of shalom (peace) make you completely holy – may your entire spirit, soul and body be kept blameless for the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. The One calling you is faithful, and He will do it.

Obedience Vs. Obligation

November 17, 2013 at 10:50 pm (Devotionals)

image

***Taken from Make Haste My Beloved by Frances J. Roberts. Page 63***

*** Christ Requires Obedience

When Christ was here, He was looking for disciples…He is still looking for them today. Man searches for leaders; Jesus seeks followers. Man elevates the educated; Christ blesses the teachable. Man struggles for power; Christ teaches submission. Man strives for prestige; the Holy Spirit produces humility. Man labors for achievement; Christ requires only obedience. ***

John 2:5

His (Yeshua’s/Jesus’) mother said to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.”

John 3:33-36 ~ John the Baptist speaking…

Whoever does accept what He says puts His seal on the fact that God is true, because the One whom God sent speaks God’s Words. For God does not give Him the Spirit in limited degree – the Father loves the Son and has put everything in His hands. Whoever trusts in the Son has eternal life. But whoever disobeys the Son will not see that life but remains subject to God’s wrath.

John 8:31 ~ Yeshua speaking…

So Yeshua said to the Judeans who had trusted Him. “If you obey what I say, then you are really My talmidim (disciples/followers)

John 10:4 ~ Yeshua speaking…

After taking out all that are His own, He goes on ahead of them; and the sheep follow Him because they recognize His voice.

John 10:27 ~ Yeshua speaking…

My sheep listen to My voice, I recognize them, they follow Me

John 14:15 ~ Yeshua speaking…

If you love Me, you will keep My commands;

John 14:23-24 ~ Yeshua speaking…

Yeshua answered him, “If someone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make our home with him. Someone who doesn’t love Me doesn’t keep My words – and the Word you are hearing is not My own but that of the Father who sent Me.

image

The difference between obligation and obedience is the difference between religion and the born again, Spirit led trust, that makes one a Child of God. To know that difference requires discernment which is a gift of the Spirit to every child who answers to the Voice of Yeshua. Obligation is duty bound to a set of rules that mankind perceives as Gods will based on mankinds ability to reason. Obedience is as different to the last sentence as black is to white. Abraham had no ability to reason out in his own mind what God told him to do. Nor did Jonah. Nor did Noah, Moses, David, Isaiah and the list goes on. Most of these folks were given orders to do things that baffled their minds and made little human-born sense. Noah had never seen rain…much less a flood! Most didn’t recognize Yeshua because He didn’t fit a human-born idea of a King, Savior, Messiah. So much religious obligation happens today because people interpret God wrongly by what He has given us as His Word; by the human-born reasoning explaining the meaning of His Words instead of the Spirit. Hence, God the Father, Yeshua are made into a religious morality of making “good little humans” as humans interpret goodness. It is a dead end road.

image

Obedience to Yeshua is and can only be done as the Spirit gives us the ability to “see” way beyond our ability to understand…even the simplest of things. Hence we become like children…knowing nothing. We hear His voice and obey…especially when it makes no sense to us. That last statement alone borders on complete absurdity to a human mind without the Spirit! As one obeys under these conditions, the trust and love and awe of a God that is constantly proving Himself to dwell in the impossible becomes more real and the confidence in obeying again and again develops into a walk with a God that breaks the barriers of any prior thought to God having boundaries; meaning He is and can do, be and transform ANYTHING, in ANYWAY. This is why Yeshua said, “Blessed are you who have seen and trusted, but more blessed are those who have not.” (I’m paraphrasing) (John 20:29)

George MacDonald said an incredible thing, sent straight from the Spirit; “Discernment is not about knowing right from wrong. Its knowing the difference between right and almost right.” The gift of discernment is from the Spirit, it is drawn from the well of Wisdom, which only comes from God.

Obedience is both a delight and a sanity checker. The sanity checking is simply asking the question repeatedly…”What Kingdom are you becoming part of? Who are you going to trust?” In a world that pressures so intensely for one to conform, even in the Bible-believing world…sanity is at a constant state of renewal. For those whose minds are being transformed by Yeshua the Messiah this is HOPE!
