Unpacked

There were two thought/questions that the Spirit whispered to me as I packed up the lil’ apartment. First, what if you packed all this up and you never had access to it again? Second, where does order come from?

It stands to reason that I am all “transferred” over to the new abode and now I am so sick I haven’t been able to unpack much since Sunday. I have had a fair time of it for the last 2-3 years and been healthy. This bug jumped out in front of me like a Mac truck and I was going the maximum allowable speed when we collided! The struggle ensued as I began to try to deduce what I had missed. Surely I could have prevented this one. Perhaps I left a piece of my battle armor off? I could have been more grateful. It amazes me how quickly I begin to assign blame to myself for something as simple as getting an illness. Should have wiped down that shopping cart, used antibacterial gel there, here. Ugh, God have mercy! You know how and why. In any case I am very sick, and its not a punishment. My head and parts of my heart know this.

So here I am literally in fetal position with high fevers and aches that resemble being plugged into an electrical socket! Along with all the other “Nyqil” requirements. Boxes need unpacking. Furniture needs arranging. Kitchens done praise God! Bathroom functional. Bedroom too. Everything else is detail…the thing I do well the least. Requires that order and involved the boxes of my book babies that was suggested perhaps I may never have access to. Hmmmm…guess He wants my undivided attention here! At the moment I could care less about those books, and hey, you can walk from one room to the other without stepping over anything! I have access to my tissue, medicine, herbs, vitamins, and a place to lay my head. Who needs more than that? As to order just a click to one side of chaos but it isn’t a reason for insanity! 🙂 I digress…order is not something we as humans can pull out of our hats. Only God can create order and chaos, and considering His Works they always exist side by side.

I have been able to read a Psalm or two each morning…other than that my reading eyes are on sick leave. I can’t focus right now. Sam, has been great. My Sister Joey, who went to the hospital with a bowel obstruction has tried to nurse me from her sick bed in the hospital! God has been so exceedingly good.
The order of the day right now? Rest, the Battle belongs to the Lord! Trust Him. I have been put off the front lines for His good purpose, and I must obey Him in retreat as well as launch! Ohh, launching is so much more appealing! Retreat sounds like defeat. Its not though, regrouping and rest are part of Gods order. When I am sick like this I realize what really matters is His voice inside me, His presence. Everything else fades. Be still, and know I am God. He moves me, packs me, unpacks me, stores me, orders me and cares for me at all times.

As I type, I am rocking with aches and praying for a window of sleep to come soon. Yet He said, begin…and His grace is sufficient. I shake my head….how was it I ever thought I could figure Adonai out? What I do know is astounding and inviting. What I don’t…I am learning…either I will in His timing or I won’t. Its up to Him, and I have more than what I need! My cup overflows!

So now I wait…
To be:
Unpacked
Unstacked
And reordered.
Restored healed.
It will come, and I am “still”

Rest in All Thy Goings (Spurgeon’s Faith’s Checkbook)

Rest in All Thy Goings
November 27

And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. (Exodus 33:14)

Precious promise! Lord, enable me to appropriate it as all my own.
We must go at certain times from our abode, for here we have no continuing city. It often happens that when we feel most at home in a place, we are suddenly called away from it. Here is the antidote for this ill. The Lord Himself will keep us company. His presence, which includes His favor, His fellowship, His care, and His power, shall be ever with us in every one of our marchings. This means far more than it says; for, in fact, it means all things. If we have God present with us, we have possession of heaven and earth. Go with me, Lord, and then command me where Thou wilt!
But we hope to find a place of rest. The text promises it. We are to have rest of God’s own giving, making, and preserving. His presence will cause us to rest even when we are on the march, yea, even in the midst of battle. Rest! Thrice blessed word. Can it ever be enjoyed by mortals? Yes, there is the promise, and by faith we plead it. Rest comes from the Comforter, from the Prince of Peace, and from the glorious Father who rested on the seventh day from all His works. To be with God is to rest in the most emphatic sense.

Still Reflections

November 24, 2012 at 2:59 am (Thoughts to Ponder) (, , , , , , , , , )

Reflections take absolute stillness. No movement. Its not an activity. Its complete inactivity. Total willingness to “stay” until God moves. Like the wind, breeze, vibrations, hums, stirring of creatures and creation, only God can with one word calm and wreak havoc with that which was created to obey Him. Mankind is a wind only God can still or set into motion. That which makes His greatest art, one moment in time, a captured stillness, seeps in without notice into peace unknown to be asked for or wanted in His beloved creation.

Peace, be still…and the wind and waves obeyed Him…

Acquiring Perseverance (Spurgeon’s Faith’s Checkbook)

Acquiring Perseverance
November 23

The Lord thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little. (Deuteronomy 7:22)

We are not to expect to win victories for the Lord Jesus by a single blow. Evil principles and practices die hard. In some places it takes years of labor to drive out even one of the many vices which defile the inhabitants. We must carry on the war with all our might, even when favored with little manifest success.
Our business in this world is to conquer it for Jesus. We are not to make compromises but to exterminate evils. We are not to seek popularity but to wage unceasing war with iniquity. Infidelity, popery, drink, impurity, oppression, worldliness, error; these are all to be “put out.”
The Lord our God can alone accomplish this. He works by His faithful servants, and blessed be His name. He promises that He will so work. “Jehovah thy God will put out those nations before thee.” This He will do by degrees that we may learn perseverance, may increase in faith, may earnestly watch, and may avoid carnal security. Let us thank God for a little success and pray for more. Let us never sheathe the sword till the whole land is won for Jesus.
Courage, my heart! Go on little by little, for many littles will make a great whole.

Book Review – 7 by Jen Hatmaker

November 19, 2012 at 11:27 pm (WSGD Newes) (, , , )

Ok, I am going to attempt a quick book review for my new book club ladies. I am presently sitting in a 550 foot apartment surrounded by boxes in various stages of packed, being packed, and “trust me cardboard baby, you’ll get your “fill” pronto”. Moving day starts tomorrow and due to the holidays, the fact that we have one vehical, and work until Thursday, its going to be nothing short of a miracle if I feel anything by Friday! So I hope no one holds it against me for my briefness. (Lol, I’ve already hit my word limit goal) The clock is presently staring at me tapping it tick ticking “foot”.

About the Author:
The writing is good. Jen is down to earth and as transparent as can be. I love that in an author. Funny, and able to fill up a paragraph with lots of info packed into as few words as possible. I give her 3 1/2 stars out of five (five being excellent).

Content:
The book is styled like a diary. Taking the reader day by day through various modes of “fasting”, not just food in fact its only one small part. There is more I agree with than not on the subject matter that each 30 day fast represents. As with most things I take some and leave some. I began doing a similar thing years ago, though not quite the same. I think the Spirit was/is moving deeply in this way. Where we begin to see how spoiled we are here in America, usually that doesn’t happen till we are moved to take action; both in research and a fast of a sort (knowledge that takes action). It was so good of God to confirm and refine through Sister Hatmakers book (she’d likely cringe at the title).

Negatives:
I was often put off by the level of sarcasm and inappropriate references and comparisons. This is likely just my virgin “ears” mentality but there it is. I took a star off because of it. It reeked of the “do/say what sells” verbiage that has slowly leaked into “christian markets” over the last 50 years. Some of it is obvious, the rest may just be my perception. Do I believe Jen loves Yeshua (Jesus)? ABSOLUTELY 100%! You don’t write with the passion to be a doer not just a hearer like she does unless you love The Word! Again I am giving a quick review here, so going into the details of all that I came away with would definitately come across as my heart beats here, but hope this will do.

I have not put this on the Recommended Reading page not because I wouldn’t say “Read this”; but rather because I only put books on there that I can give 5 stars. Its not an affront to the book, its just that I could have takin it or left it. Its worth a read, but not a book I will feel the need to read again. It will get given to a good friend, sister, neighbor and I think Jen would approve :-).

My dear Sister and Friend Pam, invited me to this book club and I love these ladies! I will miss you guys this week! Much love, hugz and prayers to you all! Mwah!

Overall I am blessed by Jen Haymaker in 7. Its witty, fun, revealing, pointed, and worth the time spent with her :-). May Adonai continue to bless this beautiful woman in all she does!
